Frankly, I think it might happen first in a smaller race where he might not be so psyched-out about his start. There's nothing pie-in-the-sky about anyone's predictions here. Even the 9.8's are achievable. Remember, he would already be WELL under 10 if his reaction times and starts weren't so consistently dreadful. Lately, he's so psyched out that he'd be left in the blocks by a competent high school girl. He's reacting to the gun as much as 0.10s slower than he did in the winter. It's just a mental block he needs to overcome. Of course, I shouldn't say "just a mental block," as those sorts of impediments can be really tough, but he's only 20. He'll get his confidence back.

Look for 9.96 in the French championships.

I think if everything came together, this kid could go sub 9.90. Its a far shot, but he's got a better chance of pulling that off than me winning the lottery. I truly believe he will break 10 this year, and he doesn't need to stars to align to do it.

i see him running high 9.8s somewhere sometime in the next few years but I will never talk "medals" since that hinges too much on any one race and is fraught with possibilities of something going wrong.

Just in case you guys forgot, July 3 and 4th which is today, are the 2010 French National Championships. I strongly feel a sub 10 is about to happen. I'm so pumped up right now. He will be pushed by his teammate Mbandajock who is very fine form as well. Got my fingers crossed that he can get his best start of the year and never look back.

Time for the real "White Lightning" to show all of France what he is made of! Good luck.

Any links? Usually you guys manage to find a television feed somehow (or at least live results). If he races today, he'll do it.

come on Lemaitre! I feel a 9.98 this weekend. this season needs a sub ten to redeem it from being the worst season ever.

here's a copy of the JULY calendar for Europe. Many countires are having their nationals around now but the French seem to have been recalcitrant (how unusual)

Euro meets

No guys, he will race next week.

This week it's "just" the national championships but the 2d league at Albi.

It's going to be very exciting this weekend. Christophe will be racing in both the 100 & 200 meters. He will be pushed very hard in both races. I just hope he does well and doesn't get hurt with only three weeks until the European Championships. This will help him continue to build his speed endurance however so I agree with the strategy by his coach. Good luck to "The Master" this weekend. I am as excited to watch this as a kid on christmas morning!

To read the words of his coach, Peter Carraz in L'Equipe on Wednesday, Christophe Lemaitre, the young hope of the Sprint Tri, has hardened. In this context, it will match the 100 and 200 meters at the Championships in France which begins Friday in Valencia."Since there are not many 200 m this summer is to allow him to play. And then she'll two races per day and it can only harden the view of the European Championships (27 July-1 August) But Lemaitre did not intend to overtake on both tartan Spanish. It will only 100m and 4x100 m relay at the European Championships.Edited by: white lightning

Did he ease up to the line or did he run through the line?

Way to go PepeLeFlew! I'm so pumped and I didn't even get to see the race. His 5th sub 10.10 of the season with zero wind. The guy makes it look so easy. Will we finally see history tommorow? My bet is yes. He doesn't want to lose in the finals and that is possible. I think the extra adrenaline will help him to dip under 10 seconds for the first time in front of his fellow countrymen.

Good luck Christophe! Go out than and represent France with pride tommorow!Edited by: white lightning

I have to admit that it is refreshing to finally see a white sprinter put up these times over and over but it's also agonizing to be so close and yet still not there. If he could just get a good following wind in a couple of these races, this discussion would have been over already.

It's like were being teased but I guess that's why they call him "The Master".

I will say this. It is very difficult to run a sub 10. It is even a higher degree of difficulty to run rounds like at a major or national championship and still get it done. Will he have enough energy left in the tank tommorow after two races today?

My prediction is yes he will. The man is on a mission and nothing will stop him. It's like if the 10 second barrier is a brick wall and he will smash through it tommorow in the final. Come on Christophe, the champagne is chilled and ready. I want to make a toast in your honor.

It's time for the real"White Lightning"to take his place in history!
