Despite of his withdraw for the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, Christophe Lemaitre keeps his spirits up. This week, he worked on the swimming-pool for his physiotherapy. He had decided to stop train on the track until Monday, doing only weight training and jogging.
« Monday, I will train again on the track, says Christophe. I’ll seek to make gradual progress and we’ll see how will react the muscle. I don’t know when I’ll can go fast but I keep my spirits up. I always think I can be in good shape for the world championships if I still work hard. »
And Christophe remembers when he was junior world champion in 2008. His préparation was upset because of adductor muscles problem. But he won the 200 m.
« I do my utmost for medical care. If it’s not okay for the world championships, it means it was impossible, explains Christophe. I have twenty days before the world championships. We’ll work hard and we’ll get the resources to succeed. »

A very emotive video from Daegu 2011 that I haven't seen before. At 01:25 can watch Christophe's parents reaction to his race.

[h=2]Christophe runs without pain[/h] August 9, 2015 at 11 h 00 min

Christophe Lemaitre was coming back on the track Monday evening and this session was good. “This week, I could run without pain, there was no problem, it’s a satisfactionâ€￾, he explains.
The medical examination on Tuesday shown a good development: the muscle injury is almost finished. “There’s always a little thing on the picture but it’s better than the last examination, says Christophe. It’s reassuring.â€￾
“I always have a little apprehension to run a hundred percent but I go faster and faster, it’s good.â€￾
Today, Christophe’s got a training session with sprints on short distances. “We’ll wait for some days before running a hundred percentâ€￾, he explains.

under the watchful eye of the Great Master Trainer CARRAZ!

Christophe will run 9.9 and 19.7 in the WC, if he dosen't, they can always blame the pimple on his ass, cause you know thats coming....rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat

I've seen it. But: The intention is another ! I think CL is running with high velocity with cones to change(?,nearer to Center of gravity) his normal stride length.
It also could be to practice tight roping the lane. Pietro Mennea was always known as a tight rope runner who was accused of stepping on the outer lane by his competitors.

If you step on the lane you are running less than 200 meters. In the 200 meter final in the 2008 Olympics both Wallace Spearman and Martina were disqualified for lane violations and the 4th and 5th place finishers were upgraded to medalists because of this.

Stepping over cones is often done to reinforce lifting the knee to concentrate downward power to the track. And doing this in the corner is to discourage overstriding which is poor form in general, but disastrous while trying to power through a curve. We used to teach a drill called the "fast leg" which is essentially the same in that it focuses on lifting the knee, forcing power to the track, and quickly recovering the leg behind the buttocks.

[h=2]Christophe ok for Beijing[/h] August 12, 2015 at 10 h 46 min

Christophe Lemaitre’s got an important test Tuesday evening to know if he could race on the world championships in Beijing, at the end of August. He ran several 30 m, 50 m, 70 m with Pierre-Alexis Pessonneaux for the relay and three 100 m on 10″20. “It was ok, Christophe ran faster than the last training sessionsâ€￾, says Pierre Carraz, his coach.
Christophe explains it wasn’t perfect technically mais he was satisfied to feel no pain and run faster and faster.
Thursday and Friday, two big training sessions are planned in Aix-les-Bains before his departure for Beijing Saturday.

IF Lemaitre is running 10.20 in training with no one to push him and not at full capacity, that would be fantastic...doubt it, but would be fantastic

Really, it would be fantastic .... but I think it was no electronic time measurement. There are different ways to take the time/of time measurement especially in training. (I can't explain it in english)

I think Lemaitre misses 1 or 2 weeks of training to be in top form. I think in 100m he can be better than french championship, close to 10 secondes. But i think he will not go in final in 100m.
For me the final will be: Bolt, Gatlin, Powell, Gay, Rodgers,Vicaut. Bromell and Ujah are young so they can be edgy, and fail in semi final. I think Carter run 10.05, Ashmeade was not in a really good form last race. De Grasse has a big big saison so for him it will be hard to run faster again. Ogunode we don't know if he has is level (9.91) again. Bledman always run 10.10 in big compétition...
So rest 2 lane, (think for Ashmeade and Bromell) but we have a little chance if the semi final of lemaitre are :
Carter, Bromell, Lemaitre, Kilty, Hyman, Jobogwana, Martina, Adams. He can finish in the top 2 place.

Christophe Lemaitre left Paris Saturday evening and he arrived in Beijing this morning.
He was next to Renaud Lavillenie in the plane.
This week, Christophe’s got three good training sessions before his departure to China.
Tuesday, there was a decisive test to know if Christophe was able to race on the world championships. He felt no pain and ran three 100 m on 10’’20. « I feel it’s not yet perfect technically but I was more impatient to run fast than run well during this first real sprint session since a long time», he explained Thursday evening.
He recognized a feeling of apprehension before the session on Tuesday. « The injury came back twice while it was unexpected. It was logical I got a feeling of apprehension. But it’s all in the past, now. »
Christophe also said he thought to withdraw at some point. « When I relapsed and I waited for to run fast again, I thought to withdraw for the world championships. I was tired to be injured while I thought it was okay and I got good feelings. »
Thursday and Friday, the four-time european champion continued to increase in power. « He’s better and better, said his coach Pierre Carraz. During the last training session before departure to China, Christophe worked his start, ran relax some 150 m in a complete turn and fast three 150 m, in 15’’2 with 10’’20 on the 100 m. « There’s always work to do, explained the coach. Perhaps Christophe wasn’t yet one hundred per cent. He was also tired by three big sessions in four days. We’ll see next week. »
Christophe’s got three training sessions in Beijing Tuesday to Thursday, before his first race on the world championships, Saturday on 100 m.

It sounds encouraging, but I'm surprised that Christophe is running the 100m.
First of all, it's not his best race - the 200m is.
Second,he's coming back from an injury and the 100m will only strain him more than the 200m.
Also, by his coach's admission, Christophe was tired after 3 training days. Running rounds of the 100m will only tire him for the 200m.
I wish him well, but as always, I question his coach's thinking.

he was a better 100 guy than 200 in the beginning; he ran more sub 10's than sub 20's ....he could of been great in both events.

At this stage in his athletic career, he should not be exhausted to run both the 100 and 200, stop with the Carazz influenced excuses

I never thought we would see him regress for this many years. Coaching has been the biggest factor along with climate and inadequate training partners.

Regardless, I'm hoping he still shocks us all and makes the finals of the 100 and 200 meters. I can't see him medaling in either to be honest but a finish in the top 5 in the deuce would still be ok considering all of his injuries this summer.

Good luck Christophe. I hope you make France and your family proud.

I'm not too sure of that. While he does have more sub 10 times than sub 20's, but that could be a function of the track circuit having many more 100 meter races. He has consistently had higher places at majors in the 200 and his best 200 time is much higher on the all time list than in the 100. Plus his body type is more like the classic Mennea build than the classic 100 meter build of say Bob Hayes or the white equivalent of Bobby Morrow.

"never thought we would see him regress for this many year" NO REGRESSION FOR LEMAITRE IN THE LAST YEARS except 2014 !
"Coaching, climate and inadequate training partners." WHAT ?
" but a finish in the top 5 in the deuce would still be ok considering all of his injuries this summer." TOP 5 in 100M in World championship with "bad training", "bad coach", "regression", injury etc, etc

a elite sprinter with a bad coach, bad training runs in 10.30, he 's not in TOP TEN or TOP FIVE in the world.

For me, christophe in TOP 12 in 100M and TOP 5 in 200M would be correct after his injury, he's not 100%

Well, that was awful. Christophe made it through, but he had the slowest qualifying time of any runner in 6 heats. In fact, 7 runners ran faster than him and didn't qualify. His time was the 32nd fastest of all runners. I'm stunned. I've been trying to be more optimistic this year, but that's just awful unless he was a) Jogging or b) fell down.

His time was an abysmal 10.24.

In other news Kilty and Reuss are through.

It was not awful! Look at the wind! One of Christophe's Shoe Spike was .0001mm too short, his hair was parted a little to the left! He was running backwards, AND HE HAD A LARGE PIMPLE ON HIS ASS THAT JUST HEALED!!!!
YOU KNOW NOTHING OF SPRINT!

In all seriousness, I am surprised he even qualified past the 1st heat, I feel bad for him the 200, his supposed strong event; he may not make the final. But Carraz knows how to fix this, its a 5 year Gold Plan by the Master Jedi Trainer Pierre Carraz!
