I’m already seeing articles crop up about how the 49ers need to cut down on McCaffrey’s touches, that is he highly effective as a decoy. The author seems worried he will cut into Deebo Samuel’s touches.

Were the shoe on the other foot and a black man came to a team with a white star, the media would have no issues saying they should take some reps away from the white star player.

I’m convinced that a lot of sportscasters make statements like that because when they see talented white athletes like mccaffrey they are reminded of how dorky and unathletic they are.

If however they slobber all over a black athlete’s jock then they can feel reassured that the reason they sucked is just because they are white and it’s not really their fault.

I think it bears repeating after seeing how Sunday unfolded for CMC. Garbage runs up the gut with no fullback, on the sideline in key situations.

San Fransisco has so many playmakers it is going to highly cut into his touches. I remain steadfast that Buffalo was the far better option.

McCaffrey seems to be the same as he was before the injuries. He's averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season which is exactly his career average despite running dive plays up the middle with no blocking. The young man is very strong and usually makes something out of nothing. I've rarely seen him tackled for a loss. He's averaging 8.6 yards per reception, again is right on his career average. If anything, the time off has given him time to heal and he's well rested. He looks great, especially when used properly.
To me. he's the best all-purpose RB in the NFL!!

He has looked pretty good this season, all things considered. It amazes me his coaches don’t run more off tackle and tosses in the run game and wheel routes, slants and screens in the passing game with him.

He is succeeding despite rather atrocious playcalling for him.

The 49ers other RB, Elijah Mitchell, is out with a knee injury, and may be out for 6 to 8 weeks.
So that may mean an increased touches and workload for McCaffrey.

It may but it may not. Shanahan is good at finding running backs who can work in his system. Behind Mitchell on the depth chart are Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price. And they still have veteran Tevin Coleman on the practice squad, who was with Shanahan in Atlanta. There's been some speculation that Coleman will get carries this week.

The bottom line is McCaffrey has to get healthy or at least effectively fight through whatever knee issue he has.

Man I sure hope Cmac can still find a way to continue playing. Many of us have touched on this as his career legacy is at stake, He is
finally on a good team and now he has the injury problems return. Just crazy bad luck. When healthy he is the best rb in the NFL. I
really am rooting for him to get another 1000 yard season. He is not getting any younger and we don't know how many seasons he
has left. Many guys just retire early if and when their bodies keep breaking down. Let's hope he can turn this around quick or as Don says
to play through the pain.

I think Christian is primed for a big week against Miami. They give up 109 yards rushing per game (on average) and I can see SF wanting to limit the amount of time that Miami offense is on the field.

To me this means SF wins in the trenches. I honestly have expected far more from CMC and he needs to get his going because the calls for a slot move keep increasing amongst the DWFs and media pundits.

I’ve said many times before, he is the most important person to illustrate the fallacy of the caste system. Running back is the premier position (excluding QB) from the standpoint of visibility. WRs are a dime a dozen… each time has 3-4 on the field at all times. They typically only have 1 running back (maybe a fullback too) on the field and seeing white men carrying the ball and succeeding is immensely important for white male psyche and, extrapolating, white culture in general.

He needs to be able to play through pain and swelling. You will know if he is sat in the middle of the game or sat out that he can't play even with a pain killing shot which I am certain he is taking for this swelling. Taking a shot is a mere formality if you want to play a 16 game season.

He could have possibly had 100 yards rushing yesteday but they pass to him almost as much as he carries the ball. It's understandable
as he is such an all around running back and a great weapon for any team to use in a variety of ways. It's fun to watch but the more
receptions he has comes as a negative to his yards rushing. Most running backs don't get half of the passes he gets. I personally would rather have him carry the ball more but continue to use him in space as much as possible. Yes I would still have him as a receiver but I would
let him run it 80 percent of his overall touch's between carries & receptions. This isn't gonna happen but that would really help his yards
per game and rushing yards in a season numbers. At least he has a legitimate chance to do it and he is finally on a playoff team.

Absolutely. 75-80% of his touches should be rushing. Almost as much as quantity of rushing attempts is quality. They simply need to give him the ball in better situations and with less predictability. He will bust a long one eventually.

But 10 passes thrown his way to 17 rushes is not a good ratio. It is more important to our cause for him to reach that 1k mark as he is only the second white man to reach it in the last three decades (Hillis in 2010, James in 1985). Alstott got close a couple of times.

But CMC need 3 more 1k yard seasons to have a chance at potential all-time great status.

The Shanahan offense, for whatever reasons, has not been kind to Christian McCaffrey. He has looked like a lesser player than he was in Carolina.
