Yes too bad Cooley got that injury. But look, sometimes things like this can happen. All a player can do is prepare the best possible to prevent injury, other than that it can still happen at any moment. Let's just hope he and other injured white players get better soon and get back out on the field. Look what guys like Tom Brady and Jeremy Shockey have been able to do coming back from injuries. It's not a death sentence!

news from rotoworld:

Updating a previous item, Adam Schefter is reporting that Chris Cooley (fractured ankle) may play again in as soon as four weeks.

Cooley confirmed via his Twitter account that he had three pins inserted and hopes to be back in four weeks. He visited a foot specialist who determined that the injury was not as serious as first believed. No longer in danger of being placed on injured reserve, Cooley is worth holding onto in fantasy leagues if you can spare the roster spot.

ES, you're right. Thanks, and I'm glad there are people here to help keep me on track when I evaluate how we're doing in this league. Check out backrow's article beneath yours...I hope Cooley is right@

I just found this gem on Chris Cooley:

Redskin TE Chris Cooley is a tough watch. He looks like he should be playing in the 1950s, given his sluggishness.

Yes, thosepitiful 1950s when the NFL was filled with sluggish players. I wonder how Cooley would have done in 1912, which is when Crissie Collinsworth thinks Peyton Hillis should have been playing.

Good point, Don! Cooley is the ONLY receiving threat on the team other than "Santana " Superstar Moss". Even afflete Galloway has been demoted, I think down to #4 receiver.

I know we've been joking about the "1800s player" the last few days, but as insane as the caste talking heads are it might actually happen.

In a league absolutely filled with affletes who regularly drop passes as if they were live ferrets, Yahoo! Rivals Chris Chase has to single out Chris Cooley for a very rare drop, and then has the audaciousness to suggest that it is the single worst dropped pass for the entire season! I guess that if he were to look into drops by the supa affletes, he would have to invest weeks in film watching just to see a significant percentage.

Yeah, that's bull, singling out a guy with great hands for a rare drop. The worst drop of 2010 was Steve Johnson dropping a perfectly thrown ball in the endzone in overtime that would have given the Bills a road victory over the Steelers.

The media almost never mentions hand-eye coordination as an element of athleticism. The only one repeatedly mentioned is speed, which by the strangest of coincidences is the only advantage blacks have over Whites, and even that one is greatly exaggerated.

I didn't see the game, but according to this article on Bleacher Report Cooley had four drops yesterday. That's certainly rare for a guy like Cooley with great hands. Did anyone see the game? Was it really four drops?

Chris Cooley would love to hit the rewind button and erase yesterday's performance from his memory.

In Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Washington Redskins tight end had one of his worst games as a pro.

Cooley was targeted five times but had just one reception for 10 yards.

If this was a competition for drops, though, Cooley would have taken the cake.

He dropped four passes, including a gimme' touchdown, which is double the amount of passes he had dropped all season.

Cooley described his performance in one word: "Embarrassing."

Pick your chin up, Chris. Unlike Donovan McNabb, at least you got a chance to be on the field.

From Weenieworld: Chris Cooley revealed that he played the entire 2010 season with a torn meniscus in his knee. Cooley also revealed that the injury occurred when ex-Redskins TE Todd Yoder's wife kicked him in a limo. "She's ruthless," said Cooley. "She kicked me. I was falling asleep on the way home. She didn't want me to fall asleep." Though Cooley's never been a burner, he did seem especially sluggish this season. Still just 28, he'll be better off after the knee scope.

Stockholm Syndrome?

(FFToday) Forget Donovan McNabb or Albert Haynesworth for a minute. What are the Redskins going to do at wide receiver? "I'm sure we'll try to sign Santana Moss back, but we need a big-time receiver," tight end Chris Cooley said on Tuesday's "Cover Two Podcast". "We've got to have someone step in and fill that position." Cooley said: "It's tough when you get guys like T.O. or Chad, who have been what they are in the NFL for so long. In my opinion, Plaxico Burress probably is a guy that's humbled such as Michael Vick was, a lot, in the same situation. If you were going to take a risk on a guy that's a good player, he's probably the guy you're going to take a risk on."

Dang, what is up with some of these White athletes? First Jimmer's self-putdown and now this from Chris Cooley.

from rw, even if he meant it sarcastically, why do they feel compelled to do so?

Chris Cooley revealed that he's down to 234 pounds, 20 fewer than he's ever played in his football career.

"I think I’ll be completely fine in the run game," he insisted. "I think I’ll feel better when I’m running routes. I’m assuming I’ll have more endurance taking 20 pounds of weight off. I'm a slow white guy, so we'll see." Cooley runs about a 4.7 or 4.8 forty at his normal weight. Listed as questionable for Week 1 with a knee injury, he can't be in fantasy lineups against the Giants.

Wow, Cooley self-denigrates once again. This is disappointing to say the least.

It’s becoming more and more difficult to support these ignorant little white p-ssys. Cooley reminds me of Texans receiver, David (“I’m just a white boyâ€) Anderson. You know, a wanna-be comedian wigger who uses his race as the “running joke.†I remember a few years ago when Cooley used to constantly “tease†his hair into a rat’s nest of an “Afro.†I’m certain that hysterical laughter was shared by all within the Redskins organization…

They're making fun of themselves like modern day stepin' fetchits; its part of the planned reversal of the dominance roles of the races, back in the day blacks would get laughs by saying "I'm just of poor ole n*gger" to howls of laughter, now whites are expected to say "I'm just a poor ole white boy" to get laughs. It was embarassing when blacks did it and it is also the same when whites do it.

Personally I don't get it. I'm the type of person who never denigrates himself, in fact I'm in complete denial about my shortcomings, of course I don't have any, but if I did I would deny them. I don't understand what anyone gets from self denigration. At the very worse take a negative and spin it like: "I don't have to run super fast, I run super hard, which is better for what I do". At least say something positive. I cringe when these white athletes volunteer that they are inferior. It's poor marketing and negative reinforcement.

Citing team sources, Chris Russell of ESPN 980 Washington reports that Chris Cooley (injured reserve, knee/finger) has "most likely" played his last game as a Redskin.

Cooley is due $3.8 million next season, turns 30 in July, and will have missed 20 games to injury in the last three years. With emerging stud Fred Davis in a contract season, there won't be room for two high-priced tight ends. Cooley's knee woes also appear chronic, making it doubtful he ever returns to the form he showed while becoming the Redskins' all-time leader in catches by a tight end.

Has anyone talked to a legitimate prospect for the NFL that was bitter towards what we call the caste system? I would think that after decades we would find someone who could care less about the "system" and would at least start a blog.

Fred Davis appears to be in better shape this year, but it seems that defenses' are simply "losing him" for the most part.. which is odd, considering Washington's lack of weapons to focus on.

They aren't the New Orleans Saints' offense, which has greatly benefitted Jimmy Graham. Per the script, White TEs are "fading" this year. Jason Witten only gets 35 yards (on 5 catches) against St. Louis?

I remember Cooley's comment about him saying that he's a slow white guy.

Good to see that he's possibly out for the entire year.
