Cushing is going to get screwed with his awards. If he passed a lie detector test he shouldn't have to go through this. Cushing played his high school football right here in Jersey and the hate for him is just incredible especially now. The comments from the DWF's are terrible. Never do they question any affletes only white players.

This is unprecedented in any sport, except the Olympics where they strip medals. All the message boards are coming down hard on Cushing for using "steroids". We still don't know what he used; however, it might be a substance used to mask steroids. Anyway, its a slippery slope...are we going to strip the Pittsburgh Steelers of their 4 steroid fueled 1970s Super Bowls?

Definitely a sticky situation and it really is dissapointing if he did use steroids. I hope they don't go after Clay Matthews now and accuse him of roiding up..

The DWF's will come down on Cushing harder than ever now. He'll be known as a "cheater" regardless. When I was on my local paper's website, Northjersey.com, a DWF made a comment about DeFranco's Gym. That's the gym here in Wyckoff, NJ where Cushing apparently trained. He said that the police needs to raid that place because they have a bunch of women who bench 300lbs at that gym and plenty of Brian Cushing clones. If anyone wants to see that comment I'm providing a link to the article. http://www.northjersey.com/sports/050810_Park_Ridges_Brian_Cushing_suspended_by_NFL.html

A lot of this is Cushing's own fault. All he had to do is tell the press what drug he tested positive for"¦apparently the "non-steroid"Â￾ list is the size of the phone book and includes simple medicines used by everyday people for headaches, fever reducers, and decongestants.

If steroids is actually the drug he tested positive for in September 2009 (and then never again throughout the season), then he's just as bad a Merriman, Peppers, etc.

apparently he tested positive for an unusually high hCG in his blood. hcg is produced by body naturally but more often is used as a post steroid testosterone regulating drug, even restoring testicles size.

to add to what backrow said, apparently Cushing's "positive" test for hCg was so incredibly low that it wouldn't have been a positive result LAST SEASON. good grief.

Cushing is listed at 260 pounds on his ESPN page, but NO WAY is that his playing weight... Cushing was a healthy 245-250 on the field last year.

I can understand an athlete taking some painkillers and such, but Cushing IS NOT a roider. He didn't need any juice. This is simply an insidious conspiracy against an athletic White man. Now, we are going to have to hear about him having "shriveled-up" balls... Really funny, NOT.

Cadillac Williams, Ray Lewis and Peria Jerry - on the other hand - look like roiders. Did you guys also notice that Mario Williams was a lot bigger a few years ago, compared to last year? There have been rumors about B.J. Raji as well.

i'm not at all surprised to hear Cushing juiced. i also wasn't surprised when Merriman got suspended for the same thing. this isn't some anti Cushing conspiracy. the only conspiracy here is the general public's apparent awe at the fact that football players juice.

i look at rivals or scout.com and i see profiles of 17 year old kids that are 6'3'' 240 pounds and run a 4.6 forty. to me thats all the proof one needs. i don't care what race the kid is, i see those numbers and they're immediate red flags. look at the average weights and heights of football players now and compare them to the weights and heights of players just a generation ago. the difference is huge. are we supposed to believe that humans just evolved into these super freak athletes in such a short time? i'm not drinking the kool aid.

DWFs will continue to hate Cushing. but it won't be because he juiced. it will be for the same reason they have always hated him. because he's white AND he's successful at a sport normally dominated by blacks (atleast in terms of sheer numbers). this fact bothers DWFs bc it tears away at their safety blanket. their safety blanket being their devotion to the idea of black supremacy. a devotion sprung forth from a coward's fears of having to compete and fight in athletic endeavours.

greatness in sport,as in life, requires sacrifice. DWF's don't have the stomach or stones for that and instead they choose to sit back and talk about how naturally athetic black athletes are and how there's no way white guys like themselves could ever compete with them. they use that as a "logical" excuse to explain away their own athletic inadequacies. it's the only way they can justify spending so much money and time on a sport that so clearly excludes them. just think about how many DWFs you know that can name every player on their favorite football teams' roster, yet are so inept at the actual sport that they're 35 yrs old and still throw the football like a f--king girl. these cowards gave up on themselves and on their dreams, a long long time ago. now in their thinly veiled bitterness, they use mockery, the only weapon that the meek have, to destroy anyone that doesn't conform to their cowardice. they attack any white athlete that refuses to quit on his sport, on himself...on his dreams.

This is indeed yet another conspiracy, which reveals the glaring double standard in pro sports, which grows bigger every day. Does anyone really thing that there would be a campaign to take away the Rookie of the Year award and/or Pro Bowl status of ANY black player?

I heard some ESPN jock sniffers discussing this, and while most were (shockingly) in favor of this unprecedented move, they thought the comparison to say, Lawrence Taylor, and whether his Hall of Fame membership should be taken away if he's convicted of rape, was not appropriate. I guess we went through that already with O.J. It's clear that these lame, wannabe comedians, and the DWFs who make their huge salaries possible, would not strip any honor from any black afflete, no matter what he did off the field.

I wonder how the jock sniffers and the DWFs would react if even the biggest white star athlete was discovered to be, let's say, a holocaust denier. Or maybe seen at a KKK rally. How long do you think it would take them to demand he be stripped of any and all honors he'd achieved in his career?

The average DWF thinks that blacks are so superior in sports that they don't need to take steroids. They are already "supermen" without them. Even if they do use steroids and there is compelling evidence they will just think that it was just to give them an edge and they are superior anyway. When they see a situation like this with Cushing, a white athlete, they feel cheating is the only way he had such a good season. Mark my words if Cushing doesn't at least perform as good as last season, or better in upcoming seasons, the DWF's will dismiss his incredible season as steroid produced. He won't get selected to any more Pro Bowls.

And although it's probably a moot point, there is NO evidence that Cushing "juiced" at all. Sure, hCg is sometimes used by the "roid" community to help the body transition off of steroids and get back to normal. However, it is also used in the weight loss community as a means to metabolize fat faster, and is found in many supplements, sometimes as "homeopathic hCg", which may, or may not have any significant amounts of the chemical.

Cushing has stated that he did not take hCg, but has had a supplement routine since he was in high school. Knowing how athletes are with their supplements, it's likely that he's been taking the same supplement selection since the early 2000's, when hCg was at it's height of popularity in the weight loss/get cut and ripped segment of the population.
All of that said, it doesn't matter a hill of beans to the DWF haters. But Cushing will still be the same player when he comes back from his undeserved suspension.

to be honest, i would not think that Cushing is definitely innocent of juicing. then again, he's innocent for the lack of evidence and hCG is NOT a clear proof of roids, even if it is suspicious. still, 4 games is nothing and he will be back to prove everyone that he can play, steroids or not.

Another article about Cushing's positive test. If I didn't know better

I would almost think that he might have been set up. But no, the NFL and their testing methods/sample security is above reproach. Enough to cost some WHITE player million$ of dollar$.

hahaha, check this out:

Texans SLB Brian Cushing has retained his Defensive Rookie of the Year award after a re-vote by 50 writers for the Associated Press.

The outcome is surprising, but over the last two days it became increasingly evident that voters were bothered by the idea of a re-vote. The re-vote count, though, was much closer. Cushing received a whopping 39 first-place votes on the January 5 ballot. He garnered 18 votes this time. Bills S Jairus Byrd again finished second with 13 (he got six in January). Clay Matthews (10), Brian Orakpo (3), and James Laurinaitis (1) rounded out the re-vote's top five.

It looks like 21 of these "knowledgeable" members of the AP voted for affletes this time around. I figured that would happen but at least he keeps the award.

even rotoworld disagrees:

Though he retained his Rookie of the Year Award, the AP stripped Brian Cushing of his second-team All-Pro status for 2009.

This makes sense. Not. In January, the AP gave Cushing five first-place votes for All-Pro to rank second among all outside linebackers. Upon re-vote, he got just one. It's unclear who will replace him on the All-Pro roster.

We all know who will replace him. It will surely be an overrated afflete.

conspiracy theory? that's reaching.

a better defense of Cush is to bring up the fact that a lot of elite players, the MAJORITY of which are black, have tested positive for PED's. Julius Peppers and Kevin Williams come to mind. if these two super affletes are so genetically superior to us mere mortals, why are they using PEDs? could it be that they owe their athleticism to something else? better living through chemistry i guess.

Laurinaitis should have received more votes...

Animal Jr is a beast! he will be a lot more confident this year and i think his performance will be pro bowl level. he won't have the distraction of always seeing Mel Kiper on ESPN, calling him slow.

what to say when a DWF won't stop attacking Cush...

if the DWF still won't stop...then his daughter is probably dating a black guy.

cheers to all

I find this kind of funny especially considereing the talent level of the player speaking out.

James Jones sounds off on Brian Cushing
Posted by Mike Florio on May 13, 2010 8:40 PM ET
Most NFL players are inclined either to support Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, or to say nothing. One of the exceptions is Packers receiver James Jones.

In a Thursday segment with WSSP 1250 in Milwaukee, Jones made his views on the situation crystal clear.

"Do I have to comment on that?" Jones initially said, laughing. Later, he spoke his mind.

"If it was me, I probably would have just stripped [the AP defensive rookie of the year award]," Jones said. "Obviously, you're basically saying it's OK to cheat and still get by. I mean, I don't think it was the right thing to do. I think [if] you cheated and used steroids you shouldn't be able to hold that award."

Surely, other players feel that way. We hope more of them follow Jones' lead.

By the way we are always talking about overrated wide recievers, well James Jones had 2nd worst set of hands in the NFL

Below are the lists of the players who had the best and worst hands during this past season.

Here are the players who dropped the lowest percentage of passes last year:

1) Greg Camarillo (MIA) - 50 receptions, 0 drops - 0%
2) Robert Meachem (NOS) - 45 receptions, 0 drops - 0%
3) Jason Avant (PHI) - 41 receptions, 0 drops - 0%
4) Kevin Walter (HOU) - 53 receptions, 1 drop - 1.85%
5) Mike Thomas (JAC) - 48 receptions, 1 drop - 2.04%
6) David Anderson (HOU) - 38 receptions, 1 drop - 2.56%
7) Eddie Royal (DEN) - 37 receptions, 1 drop - 2.63%
8) Chris Chambers (KCC) - 36 receptions, 1 drop - 2.70%
9) Vincent Jackson (SDC) - 68 receptions, 2 drops - 2.86%
10) Reggie Wayne (IND) - 100 receptions, 3 drops - 2.91%

Here's a look at the player's who dropped the highest percentage of passes last year:

1) Mark Bradley (KCC) - 24 receptions, 8 drops - 25.00%
2) James Jones (GBP) - 32 receptions, 9 drops - 21.95%
3) Ted Ginn (MIA) - 38 receptions, 10 drops - 20.83%
4) Bobby Wade (KCC) - 37 receptions, 8 drops - 17.78%
5) Justin Gage (TEN) - 28 receptions, 6 drops - 17.65%
6) Roy Williams (DAL) - 38 receptions, 8 drops - 17.39%
7) Louis Murphy (OAK) - 34 receptions, 7 drops - 17.07%
8) Bryant Johnson (DET) - 36 receptions, 7 drops - 16.28%
9) Dwayne Bowe (KCC) - 47 receptions, 9 drops - 16.07%
10) Jacoby Jones (HOU) - 27 receptions, 5 drops - 15.63%
