Here's a great example of another white kid who should get an opportunity to run the ball at a major program butis already being groomed for his "racially correct" role in college. This is from today's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette describing Billy Bair, a tailback from Mars High School who led the WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) in rushing in 2006. Read this and then see how his own coach undermines him at the end of the article with some sheer b.s.:
Billy Bair (Mars RB-DB): Bair traps didn't work much last year against Mars, but this Bair might leave even more tracks on opponents this season. Mars' Billy Bair is a 6-foot, 180-pound senior who led the entire WPIAL in rushing during the 2006 regular season. A repeat performance would presumably be satisfactory. But Mars coach Scott Heinauer believes this Bair season could be better than last.
"I would think we could expect more," Heinauer said. "We've talked to him about it. He's going to have to take an even bigger role this year because we have an inexperienced quarterback and five of the six people up front on the line are gone. How much more can we expect than last year? I'm not sure, but he can do more."
Including one playoff game last year, Bair rushed for 1,928 yards on 205 attempts and scored 28 touchdowns. Not bad for someone who always played on the line until ninth grade.
"He's fast, but his vision of the field is his biggest thing," Heinauer said. "We've had kids here before who were fast, but he probably sees the field better than any kid we've had.
Bair also will be a full-time player on defense this year at cornerback. Heinauer believes defensive back might be Bair's best position for college. "He's fast, but he doesn't have that 4.2 or 4.3 speed to be featured back at a place like Pitt or Penn State," Heinauer said. "But some lower Division I schools want some video of him at cornerback. They might want to take a look at him there." [end of article]
So, he led the WPIAL in rushing last year with tremendous stats, and his coach expects him to be even better this year, but at best he'll be playing DB (and probably safety at that)at a lower-tier I-A school. Nothing like having your own coach limit your future opportunities -- and by spewing pure nonsense at that, with the claim that Bair needs "4.2 or 4.3 speed to be featured at Pitt or Penn State". Tony Hunt, last year's starter at Penn State, ran a turtle-like 4.68 at Penn State's Pro Day this year, while this season's starting tailback at Pitt, La-Rod Stephen-Howling, is a 5' 6" midget who according to his biography runs the 40 in 4.48.
How many starting tailbacks anywhere run 4.2 or 4.3? Bair's coach is either a know-nothing or a liar.
Western Pennsylvania is a football hotbed that has spawned numerous all-time great football players, most notably quarterbacks. But standout white running backs and wide receivers have no chance after high school. If you're white, your opportunities are limited to quarterback, offensive lineman, and the occasional linebacker. That's true everywhere in the country, but nowhere more true than here.
And digging back in the Caste Football archives, we find another star tailback at the same (almost all-white) Mars High School who received the same racist treatment. I don't know if Scott Heinauer was Brad Mueller's football coach back in 2002, but it hardly matters as white coaches are interchangeable when it comes to holding back white players and denying them fair opportunities. This is from8/28/02 and mentions the travails of Mueller and another star white tailback who was screwed by the Caste System:
I'll tell you what it's like where I live, and I'll bet it's not much different where you live either if you live near a city of any size. I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pa., where the Steelers are king and where high school football is extremely popular, perhaps not quite on a par with how popular it is in Florida, Texas and much of the South, but pretty close.
Here, when the mostly white suburban schools from what is called the Quad A division of the WPIAL play the mostly black schools from the City League, the suburban schools usually win, and often by routs. The statistics show that there are an approximately equal number of standout white and black running backs and standout white and black receivers in this region.
The standout black running backs and receivers often are recruited to play those same positions by the major college programs (Curtis Martin and Kevan Barlow played high school football in Pittsburgh public schools) â€â€- while the standout white running backs and receivers, who played against the same competition, are never recruited to play those same positions by the major college programs.
Trent Wisner, an excellent high school tailback who had aspirations of making the NFL, created a very minor stir in these parts several years ago when he claimed that the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Penn State would not recruit him because he is white. The controversy was quickly forgotten however, and Wisner disappeared into one of the many small college programs in this area.
Wisner was right, of course. Take another tailback at a local high school who will be a senior this year. Brad Mueller is a star for Mars High School (yes, Mars), who ran for over 1,500 yards as a junior last year. He also runs a super-fast 4.3 40, which is what he ran at the Nike Football Training Camp at Penn State this spring, which is a one-day event which attracts more than 300 top prospects from 16 states. Mueller, who is also a champion state sprinter, ran the fastest time of any of them; in fact, I doubt there is a starting tailback in the NFL that runs a 4.3 40.
There have been several newspaper articles about Mueller and the fact that he is being recruited by some major programs, including Penn State, Syracuse and Boston College. But what is absolutely mind-boggling is that every single big-time program that is recruiting Mueller is recruiting him to play wide receiver or defensive back. Not a single one wants him as a runner.
Why not???? Could you imagine a star black tailback who already runs a 4.3 40 as a junior in high school not being recruited by a single college to play tailback, but only to play some other position? It's insanity. And this is exactly why there are no white starting tailbacks in the National Football League. And why the very few white wide receivers, almost without exception, were either walk-ons at major programs or played at a small college and had to fight and claw their way to get into the league.
If a kid like Brad Mueller cannot get a chance to run the ball in college, what would it take? A white running back who is 6'3" 250 lbs. and runs a 3.9 40 and has moves like Barry Sanders? Even then he would probably be recruited as a fullback who gets to run now and then (check our profile on Rob Konrad). [end of archived CF article]
