best chances for white QB takeovers

In terms of a white quarterback replacing a previously starting black QB from last year, I'm thinking that Baltimore offers the best chance, with Flacco or Boller having decent chances of winning the starting QB spot.
Outside of Baltimore, I'm thinking Washington, Philadelphia or Minnesota. One place where this won't be happening is Jacksonville.

Philadelphia is a no-go. Assuming McNabb gets injured, we will have Feeley or Kolb step in for a few games and play, but that's how I see it playing out.

As McNabb goes, so does Reid. As long as they are both in Philadelphia, there will be no question about the starting quarterback whatsoever, barring injury. Even then, Reid is often evasive. He doesn't like saying that McNabb is not going to play, even if he is seriously injured.

Washington and Minnesota are interesting because both QBs are essentially unproven. Tavaris Jackson is one of the worst passers in the league (albeit not helped by his less-than-stellar receiving corps) and has a lot of growing up to do. It would take some really bad games to get him replaced but it is not out of the question.

Jason Campbell was injured last year, and the 'Skins opted to stick with the hot Todd Collins rather than put him back in. This was an interesting "vote of no-confidence" for Campbell, which is interesting because he is obviously a black QB. I'm hopeful here.

Good analysis I agree. Tarvaris Jackson has only been starting for a year and a half. He will get this season to show signs of improvement, but if he is God awful again, he will be replaced. He wasn't helped by their God awful WRs. Tarvaris should be adamantly campaigning to get Mike Hass in Viking town to help him.

Hass could be a great Issac Bruce type WR! Jason Campbell will be duking it out with veteran Todd Collins for the starting job, but they may go with youth if Campbell shows any signs of improvement.

As far as Baltimore goes, Troy Smith has as good or better a shot at starting than Boller until Flacco is ready to take over. All other black QBs are safe for now and deservedly so, but if McNabb keeps getting hurt every year he might have to go! The Phili Fans won't put up with it. They already have cut McNabb tons of slack compared to Curtis who was pretty impressive in his first season to the blind eye of their drunken fans! Sorry Phili fan!

It's refreshing to enter a new season with no blacks a threat to take over an existing starting job. The closest would be Troy Smith, but I think Boller will get the nod there until Flacco is ready. At most Smith would be a stopgap.(He was drafted basically as a nod to his senior season at OSU and will never be more than a backup in the NFL.)


Jackson in Minnesota and Campbell in Washington still have a lot to prove. Both seem to have trouble readingdefenses and making decisions quickly enough other than on the 3 yard throws offensive coordinators are so fond of having black QBs make. And of course Vince Young still looks like a girl when passing.


Injury prone McNabb and Garrard are the only entrenched black QBs. And Garrard has only done it for one season.


All eyes will be on Oakland's 300 pound "phenom" this year. Tip to fantasy football players -- don't use any early draft picks on Raiders receivers!

Minnesota could replace Tarvaris in the middle of the season if they don't have a good start. He is terrible and really doesn't have much upside. He is like a 40 year old veteran with a bum shoulder. I still think Campbell has some potential, but I don't think he will ever be star in this league. He could become competent but nothing more.

I agree. Todd Collins isn't really competition as he was an aging journeyman who just happened to be a lot better than Campbell when he took over after Campbell was injured. Campbell will get his full black allotment of time to succeed, but I think he'll be average at best and probably less than average, so odds are he will eventually be replaced. Though given Washington's demographics it wouldn't be suprising to see the Redskinsembark on a prolonged black QB era.

Ill be pulling for Colt Brennan. He was picked up by Zorn and should be a good fit in that offense, Campbell was a Gibbs pick and Zorn will probably let him play barring injury but if he does not improve I would not be surprised if they bring Brennan in late in the season.

I actually think that Colt Brennen will eventually become the most successful QB of this year's draft class. I think he will overtake Campbell within 1.5 seasons and become a young star in the NFL despite getting drafted late and written off after a bad bowl performance.

I think Brennan is Washington's future. It's obvious Zorn likes him, and if not for his injury, he'd already be the #3QB. As it stands, if his hip keeps bugging him, he'll go on IR or be scout team this season, at the very worst.

I think a lot of people are discounting Booty in Minnesota. Reagrdless of how many sacks Jared Allen racks up and how many yards Adrian Petersen runs for, eventually, the Vikes are going to have to throw. Booty has the brains, and a strong enough arm, to run the Vikes' offense.

If Tavares Jackson (AKA the biggest QB reach in draft history) continues to start at QB, the Vikings will never win a playoff game against a team that can actually score....if they ever make the playoffs.

Booty should overtake this worthless QB by next season, and possibly make a start towards the end of this season. Then blubbery Jamarcus will be the next bust to be exposed.
