The whole premise of the Mitchell Commission was fraudulent. The point was not to uncover Barry's misdeeds, it was to find as many other names as they could to lump in with Barry, thereby protecting him on the simple grounds of "Well, everybody did it, so we can't punish just one player". That was always Selig's intent. That's why he dragged his ass for more than a year on the Bonds Issue, even when it was clear (factual testimony) that Bonds did steroids. But Selig needed more time. He needed to find a way to protect Barry. His solution was to engineer a situation where the 'Steroid Era' could be blamed, and not just one person. That allows Barry to keep his records and Selig believes he looks like a prince to the minority baseball fans.

Perjury? Pffft what does that mean anymore, Clinton perjured himself and it cost him nothing, he could run for President again and get elected in a landslide.

Surprisingly, most of my co-workers seem to think Bonds will get jail time. I, on the other hand, expect probation and community service if he is found guilty at all.

I agree about the Mitchell comission. Still, this is a start, and it makes life unpleasant for Bonds--which is good. He now has his record, and *his last days in baseball are days of disgrace.*

The interesting thing about black pro atheletes is that at some point it seems the best of them go crazy. I don't know what it is, but the more successful they are, the more crazy they are. It may take some time to come out, but in the end, it always does. They just can't lead a normal life and not get into some mess. Bonds is only the latest example of this.

Bonds' perjury trial is underway, as he pleads not-guilty. However, the judge on the case is on the verge of throwing out the positive urine tests, as there is no one to authenticate them. Hopefully the trial will continue.

Since Bonds' perjury trial has been delayed, he could in theory play in 2009. While channel surfing, I came across ESPN boosting Bonds for this year. They reluctantly concluded that if no team wanted him in 2008, none will in 2009.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Home run king Barry Bonds said he is "proud" of slugger Mark McGwire for returning to baseball as the St. Louis Cardinals' hitting coach and for admitting his use of performance-enhancing drugs.

"I have a really good friendship with Mark McGwire. I'm proud of him," Bonds said Sunday. "We've had a great relationship throughout our entire lives and throughout our career. I'm proud of what he did. I'm happy for him."

While Bonds didn't rule out also going into coaching one day, his six-minute session with the media was stopped after the question about McGwire.

In January, McGwire ended more than a decade of denials and evasion and finally acknowledged he used steroids and human growth hormone during his career, including in 1998 when he hit 70 home runs and broke the single-season record.

Bonds, who topped that mark when he hit 73 homers in 2001, has long denied ever knowingly using steroids or performance-enhancers in his pursuit of the career home run record - arguably the most prized record in all of American sports.

Bonds was indicted on charges he lied in 2003 to a federal grand jury investigating BALCO, the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, and obstructed justice.

McGwire was told of Bonds' comments in Milwaukee, where the Cardinals were playing the Brewers.

"It's very cool. Barry is a great player, was a great player in this game, many MVPs," McGwire said. "The guy could do it all. It makes me feel really good. It's really cool to be back in the game. ... I'm a big boy, I understand that things happen in your life and you've got to confront them, and you also have to move on from them and learn from them."

The 45-year-old Bonds, back in the Bay Area for a reunion at AT&T Park of the Giants' 2000 NL West champion team, said he doesn't believe now is the right time to retire. Though he also insists he's not in shape to play immediately if an interested club came calling.

Blacks will always try to let other blacks off easy. I experienced this first hand when I served on a jury a few years back. The man being charged was black and he was accused of 3 different counts. He had been beaten up and fired a gun (he claimed fell from his attackers) in self defense as well as fleeing the scene and holding up in his girlfriends apartment for awhile before turning himself in. While I believed as well as the other jurors that the attackers were the true scumbags, it was clear the defendant was guilty of some attempt at retaliation. The most serious charge of the 3 we all agreed not-guilty. I felt the other 2 lesser charges he was guilty of. Well of course the 1 young black woman on the jury wanted to let him off on all 3 counts. A few liberal types who were wishy-washy either way had her back to an extent and just needed some leadership to set them straight. I'm proud to say as a 22 year old White man I stepped up and convinced the jury to find him guilty on 1 charge. This I would not budge on and the black woman came around as she did not want to be responsible for hanging the jury. While this is just one person and one example her sense of protecting her fellow "brother" in the face of the evidence was obvious to anyone with any sense.

No, the dirty four and others should be banned forever, as not to tarnish America's past time. McGuire is the most pathetic, testifying before congress and crying like a little b**ch. And telling all who would listen he was not taking PEDs.

I clearly remember that season he and Manny "blue eyes" Sosa were battling to to break Ruth's record. McGuire breaks it, I was so happy only to find out later he was like Bonds or Bonds like him. F**K!

I think he started taking them the year he got huge. Which was roughly around 2000. If Mcgwire and Raffy aren't getting in why does Bonds or Clemens? I saw some writers arguing that Sheffield deserved to get in to. If both of those guys get in all conspiracy theories are out the window.....
