Congrats to Andy. I think he has paid some dues and been put in tough. He worked hard for this and glad to see him get it.

Korobov can come back too.

Great win for Andy Lee!

Would love to see him VS David Lemieux! A real 50-50 type battle. I honestly wouldn't know who to favour. Head says Lemieux heart says Lee may catch him with a welltimed hook.

Again Andy's power bails him out. Congrats. A hard knock fighter that never gives up.

Congrats to Andy Lee and I don't mean to rain on the parade, but I did feel the stoppage seemed a bit premature. I would have liked to see Korobov have more of a chance to fight out of the situation. He wasn't even dropped and was really just caught with the one big shot. He did seem to have his senses about him. He should have been throwing back.

Mind you, I don't think Korobov protested the stoppage so maybe he felt it was right. Looked to me that he could have fought out of it though. Why wasn't he throwing back, he didnt seem that hurt? He should have taken a knee, recovered then got up and resumed.

In any case, great win for Lee, congrats to him and I guess its better to stop a fight too early than too late. But it did feel like the stoppage was too soon.

Yes, he still had his hands up.

But he was unwise to not take a knee or try to hold at that time.

I feel great for Andy. During his career he has had several bumps in the road. His loses to Vera and Chavez Jr. Funny, Vera really beat Chavez Jr as well before their rematch. It appeared that Andy was a bit more relaxed in this fight. He still fights with a bit of nervous energy against good fighters. They say Booth has taught him to relax more and roll with the punches. I saw some evidence of that tonight. If Andy really improves his jab he will be handful for any top 160 lber. Andy has been to the deepest valleys and now is on high mountain top. Congrats to him and his belief in himself.

Korobov, needs to learn how to hold when hurt, or take a knee, it possibly caused him this fight.

Now its time for Andy to makes some money. He said he wants his first defense to be in Ireland. I am thinking about an opponent that has a name but not too much of a risk. anyone have an idea? Quillin?

I see Andy beating Cotto and even Alvarez but not GGG.

Korobov wasn't doing anything and had blank vacant look in his eyes. If I was the referee I stop it too. I feel bad for him because of the length of time it took him to get a shot at a world belt but with all of the recent tragedies in boxing we didn't need a potential one on the eve of Christmas.

As for Lee it looks like his power is his great equalizer, you just can't count him out with big power shots that he can fire from the hip out of the blue. He reminds me of a western gun fighter who while struck in the upper torso fires off a salvo that kills the villian in a shoot out to end the movie.

Ps Lee is a traveler and is related to Tyson Fury so the extended Fury clan have won their first world title. :clap2:

Before the fight i was rooting for Korobov as i thought he would have more upside as the champion but then come across a very nice picture of Lee's wife and young daughters settling down in front of the television to watch him fight and i changed my mind.I'm very happy this humble family man has become a champion. No matter how good Korobov is Andy Lee was never going to be an easy fight as he's a very experienced pro, still fairly young has a good chin and is punching harder than ever so it was always a 50/50 fight despite Korobov being the overwhelming favorite.

I think it's a 50-50 pick 'em fight, and it's on a Haymon event so the officials may ten to favor Quillin.

But I'm hoping Andy Lee comes through with another one of his right hook KOs on Saturday.

If Andy improved on his balance from this last 2 fights, uses his length and jab, then he has a great shot to win. Andy needs to pump his left jab to the head and body. After doing this for 2 or 3 rounds and forcing Quillian to press, unleash the right hand to Quilian's grape. Should be an explosive fight.

Solid 50-50 type fight between Lee and Quillin.

Lee has a knack for scoring incredible one punch KO'Sand hhis lead hook can be devastating, see his KO'S over Daniels, Jackson, and Korobov. So in terms of power you'd have to say Lee has the advantage.

Lee also has a deep amateur background (more than 100 amateur fights) which is notable compared to Quillin who took up boxing later in life and only has 30 or so amateur fights. This should also give Lee a technical and defensive advantage.

The fight is in Quillin ' s home country and home city so expect the officiating to favour him.

Prediction: Lee KO 7

My worry is that Lee isn't that great a boxer. He does have knockout power and can end this fight that way. Korobov easily had a better skillset and would have beat Lee had it gone to the cards. Then Quillin would have been crapping his pants again. Quillin knows he has a 50-50 chance of beating Lee. Korobov would have outboxed him.

Guys I remember back in 2012, Lee was giving Chavez Jr a boxing lesson and led in fight until he got KO's by 190 lbs Chavez the night of the fight.

So Andy keeps his WTF title or whatever belt it is win or lose. That might actually help him relax more. I didn't think Quillen looks like that big a middle. Quillen is good, but maybe not as good as he's been built up to be. He's the one moving up a level. I have to agree with Specialist that this is about a 50-50 fight.

Definitely a caste match-up. A lot of dumb asses who think Mike Tyson is still the HV champion and haven't gotten the memo that white fighters are back will stumble across this fight. A Lee win here would do a lot of good.

I knew Lee would start slowly, but yikes.

Then in the third he comes on, and of course a slip is called a knockdown. I hope that Lee continues to come on the way he did in the third. Even the ref commentating with the semitically approved crew at ringside said it wasn't a knockdown. We'll see how things go.

I will add that I was more than a bit alarmed when I saw that there's a chimp as referee. If that offends anyone, I don't care.

Don't like the way Lee leans in to throw his straight left. But maybe he knows just when to do it. Quillen has just missed with some counters.

Lee clearly won the 11th and Farhood gave it to Quillen.

Wow a draw. I thought Andy was going to get destroyed after the 1st 2 rounds. I caught them at work but raced home to catch the main event. Andy has to correct his balance. He chin is glass. Does anyone have an assess of the total fight by Andy?
