I know Uncle Teddy is persona non grata here. But what if Povetkin looks explosive next fight against a top contender? Will we re-evaluate him as a trainer? I know I am open to see how this works. Uncle Ted did make a light heavyweight the heavyweight champ of the world with mal content Michael Moorer.

I hope it works for both. Maybe Ted can put some of the perceived anti-white bais behind him. I think Uncle Ted knows that Povetkin is a winner and has hitched on his coattails. We'll see.

Povetkin vs Nolan or Boswell on December 5; Beck is Out

Trainer Teddy Atlas has apparently decided Owen "What the Heck" Beck isn't a good fit for Alexander Povetkin's December 5th ring return in Germany. The ink was supposed to be "all but dried" on the contract but as is often the case in boxing, nothing is ever a done deal until the opening bell actually rings. A source not affiliated with Sauerland Event said that the German promotional company approved Beck as an opponent for the IBF mandatory contender and that everyone else with Team Povetkin was on board with the fight, except Atlas. The fight is only two weeks away and Povetkin's opponent is still to be determined.

Editor's Note: A source close to Povetkin's team advised BoxingScene.com that Leo Nolan (27-1, 10KOs) and Cedric Boswell (31-1, 24KOs) are in the running to face Povetkin on the 12/5 date.

Good ole' Teddy.  Boy is he going to screw up Povetkin.  You can't have a moron as your trainer.
For Povetkin's sake, let's just hope for the best (or worst).

Atlas.. "at best".. Will turn povetkin in to a jab and hold fighter! So they can say he is a boring heavweight.. "Just like all the east euro fighters"....They will say.. So povetin needs to dump atlas!

So Povetkin will be facing Leo Nolan instead of Owen Beck on Dec 5 according to boxingscene:

Povetkin vs. Nolan

Beck is actually a better fighter than the inactive Nolan, but for some moronic reason Teddy Atlas didn't want Owen as the opponent. I don't see the point in choosing Nolan. He's like a lesser version of Jason Estrada and Larry Donald. However like Donald and Estrada, he isn't easy to stop, so Povetkin will likely get some rounds in.

I don't know much about Nolan (beyond the fact he has a padded record), but I do know that Beck is terrible. It's not like Povetkin has been sitting on his laurels since has gotten the IBF mandatory. Why have fear of Beck?

I think he will try and teach him the Tyson peekaboo style. I just don't think that it will work beyond Povetkin learning the basics of that style. At 30 years of age you really can't change a fighters style. Plus that style was perfect for Tyson but, really wasn't that great for Rooney and others that tried that style.

Weights: Nolan 230 Povetkin 221

Povetkin appears to be in better shape for this fight

Atlas appears to be a very unhappy person.

I think Povetkin will have to wait a while to be champ lost. After the Klitschko's retire it's his world at heavyweight.

Dude why do you want to see the Klitschko's beaten? They are the flagships of the white boxing resurgence.

Sometimes I think you really are lost.

I like the klitschko's a lot.. But they are past their prime.. And if fighters like povetkin or boytsov could beat a vitali or wald. It would show everybody that the heavyweight's are not just the klitschko division......And i am lost most of the time!

Thanks for posting the video, Blue Devils.

Alexander Povetkin showed what we expected: superior athleticism and boxing skills to the black fighter.

It appears that Uncle Teddy has had a good influence on Povetkin. He looked to be in great phyiscal condition and his punches are more fluid and more snap on them. So far this partnership has been good. I was impressed.

Have you been watching them fight? Vitali has looked basically as dominant as he has looked since the late 90's. Wlad is clearly better than he was pre-Sanders to the Peter fight. They both are at their peak or marginally past it for Vitali.

Alexander Povetkin is now scheduled to fight Dominick Guinn (BoxRec #31) on March 13 in Germany.

Guinn has never been stopped or even knocked down in a fight, and is a strong puncher who has scored many early round KOs. He's a very good "stay-active" opponent for Sasha.

Guinn is a good workout fight. Guinn does enough to not be a total pushover. But never does enough work in the ring to win a decision over an iron chinned opponent. When Guinn was viewed as prospect Ronnie Shields used have to light a firecracker in his pants and even then Guinn didn't want to fight...

Alexander is now scheduled to face Javier Mora 22-5-1(18) in Germany on March 13.

Mora, if you remember lost inside a minute to Sultan Ibragimov...the only time he's been stopped.
