Detroit will be thanking Jacksonville for next 10 years for passing over Hutchinson for a 1 year wonder!

Agreed. That was one of the stupidest decisions the Jaguars could have made. Also saw that the Lions picked up John Cominsky off waivers. Would be nice if he got a fair shake in Detroit.

Not sure if anyone caught the article on ESPN, but ahead of the Lions-Jags game, Hutchinson makes a sarcastic remark about how he thought he would selected by Jacksonville for months and then in the last week it was noted his arms were not quite long enough to be worthy of the number 1 overall selection. A bit of tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement of the absurdity of general managers. For what it is worth, he is really outplaying the Jags’ pick Walker as rookies.

I’m not enough of an expert but I’m not sure why arm length would matter so much. Does it matter in NCAA wrestling to the point where anyone talks about it? It matters in boxing but I agree. I don’t get the obsession

Football people want their players to look like gorillas and outsized arms are part of that. They also want them to have the intelligence and attitude of gorillas. In fact some day when the gorilla liberation movement gets going they will recruit actual gorillas (college admissions are now low enough for them to pass).

I would say that Aidan had a darn good rookie season despite a few games (mostly earlier in the schedule) when he was a non factor. Total of 52 tackles (34 solo), 9.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 3 passes defensed. The 3 interceptions is incredible for a defensive lineman and shows his athleticism.

The Lion’s lucked out that the Jaguars made a foolish Caste decision with the 1st pick and now are in possession of a defensive star to build around the next 10 years.

Aidan is out for the remainder of the season with a compound fracture of the tibia. He went down sacking Prescott for NFL leading 7.5th sack (Lions record through this point of the season).

Full recovery shouldn't be an issue, hopefully!

This is a real shame. The young star was on pace to challenge the sack record and also had to be the front runner for Defensive Player of the Year. Hopefully he heals in full and is back to his dominate self next year.
