Gemili is a A sprinter who ran a 10.29 100 meters with a 2.4 tailwind. Not exceptional except for the fact hes only 17. He could be a decent 10.35 guy with that kind of time. Maybe one to look for in the future. <div>I am surprised 20 year old Andrew Robertson hasnt improved much in 2 years since taking 3rd behind Lemaitre and Guliyev at Novi Sad.</div><div>What happened to Kiernan SHowler-Davis? Also Daniel Talbot is improving. I would love to see a 4x100 relay with these guys and Pickering. It seems as if the UK is producing some quality depth in the 100. Now if they could use Lemaitre as inspiration and cut a couple of tenths of their 100 timeand Ill be a happy camper.</div>

kid has some solid times, and you always have to take into consideration England's climate. had this kid grown up in Texas he would most likly be run a tenth or 2 faster.

Agreed--let's hope he stays with the sport. I looked him up, and read several comments on a story about him indicating that he was mostly a footballer who had never trained at track or even joined a track club. Despite that, he is at age 17 running times every bit as fast as Craig Pickering, Jay Connaughton, Jason Smyth, etc, and faster than Dallas Burroughs, Joe Fisher, and the like. This is some real potential.

Gemelli ran another wind aided 10.29 last weekend. Here is his 10.28 race which was also windy. This kid will p.b. soon. He just has had such bad luck with the wind. Adam needs to stick with track as he is so inexperienced yet he puts up amazing times and he is still only 17 years of age!<div></div><div>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-tE7AW90Mo</div>

Gemili could end up being something special. A note on the last video: Gemili is in the B race (no doubt on account of his being a newcomer). If you click on the A race, it's a nice 1-2 finish for Danny Talbot and Andy Robertson.

More bad news on the track front. Adam Gemili is slightly black or maybe hes a very dark Italian but judging by his hair he is not totally white. Crud!

I am mostly of Italian heritage and by the end of the summer I can pass for mulatto, and there's no brothers in the wood pile for me. so don't worry about his dark skin.

Thus just me, but this Gemili fellow looks a lot like the female mulatto sprinter Jodie Williams.

Thank you for the clarrification gentlemen. He really looked like he was partially black in a facebook picture I saw of him recently. He almost had that brillo pad hair. He does look very Italian in these pictures you have posted. I hope this kid runs a 10.1 something next year. He is quite the young talent.

Here is the 56' Olympic 100 and 200 meter finals. The 4th place finisher in the 200 meters is a full blooded ethnic Italian representing Trinidad. I always thought he was partially Black or East Indian as he was a Trinidadian. You have to remember that many sprinters tan much darker than there natural color.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96vssj1Nnj0

I've been searching this Gemili guy, he's something else! been looking at some youtube video's, he has so much potential it's crazy! Is he taking up soccer seriously or is he going to move to Tracks? Why isn't he being persuaded to make his move towards tracks through some sort of a sponsorship? Gemili needs to move over here, with some technical training and some sponsorship he'll go far. remembering that he's only 17 it seem's sad if he doesn't stick to track, massive potential. He seem's to have very little experience in 200m but he ran a 20.98 (maybe that's a mistake)

Great find mattharper I'll be following Gemili.

Gemili isn't an italian second name. It's a turkish second name. In turkey and middle east the people is caucasian even if mostly have a darkest skin than european caucasian people. In the photo Adam seems a north african (where the majority are caucasian). But when i saw that picture i thought that his father was from middle east descent.

I read somewhere that Gemili's dad is of Italian/Moroccan decent - suppose that explains his love of soccer/athletics. Let's hope he makes the right choice and stays with Athletics.

Ok. It's possible that his dad is from moroccan/italian descent. But Gemili isn't an italian surname. It's similar for an english speaker to an italian surname. In Italy there is a surname Gemelli. Another similar: Gemeli (with only one family in Sicily). But no Gemili. If you don't beleave it, search at this link: http://www.gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/genera.html
Cognomi is plural for cognome that it means surname. And for me Gemili isn't a moroccan surname. I know many people from north Africa (a great number of immigrants in Italy are from Morocco or Tunisia). But nobody have a similar surname. Instead if you search this surname (for example with facebook) you can see that the majority are from Turkey, apart other from south east Asia. And so i don't think that Adam and his father are from east asian descent.
It's not a problem. I wanted only specify a difference.
I don't want to accuse anybody. But i've seen that some people from north Europe or USA don't understand the differences between mediterranean populations (appearance and language).
I hope that Adam will grow his performances. I'd like it.
I also hope he'll chose athletic. In Europe soccer is a problem. Practically the majority of young european boys play soccer, and at the age of 18 or 19 they leave sport!!! It's a disaster!!!
Adam, please, leaves soccer. You have to practice athletics. Please please please...

Ok now let's get back to talking about Adam Gemeli. This kid has loads of upside. He ran a 10.23 wind legal last weekend and literally destroyed the field. Then had came back and ran a 20.70 over 200 meters. This teenager was just born to run. He just might be a sleeper pick to sneak into the Great Britain 4 x 100 Relay Team and he is only 18. He is a very compact sprinter but his turnover is incredible! I have to say that in my honest opinion, he will go sub 10 by the time he is 21 if not sooner. Here is the video of his new personal best over 100 meters in his first race of the season!

10.11 and 10.08 for Gemili today in Germany.
Both wind legal times.
This guy is still a teenager, and very new to the sport.
He is growing by leaps and bounds. Right now he is Britain's #1 sprinter. He could easily be the next sub 10 guy.
I'd love for him to do it. I'm also anxious to see what Richard Kilty will do this season, as he had good times early this season.
And if only Ramil Guliyev was serious about the event, we might see 2 or 3 guys get under 10 flat this year.

This guy is clearly non-white. According to his Wikipedia page he is of Moroccan Iranian descent.

Seriously does anyone here think this guy is white :
