A.A. just grabbed an INT from Steve McNair and ran it back for a TD.

He took off down the side of the field, and you know what? No one even touched him. He was pulling away when he ran into the end zone.

Archuleta was a stud at ASU and is even a better player now.He used to terrorize the Pac Ten.This kid has a motor that never stops.Man can he run!

Even though I wanted the titans to win, it was great to see AA blow
past the brothers (and Drew Bennett.) I still want to see
McNair benched for Volek. But the system will keep him in there
at a cost to the team.

Adam is one of the best tackling safeties in the whole league and for that fact one of the most underrated as well. Hopefully he'll have a lot of picks and the reason being he hasn't in the past is because he plays up in the box like a 4th LB.

I don't think the new defensive coordinator of the Rams shares your high opinions of A.A.

Here is an interesting SI piece on Adam Archuleta. The fact that he is being vague about how he is being used, kinda makes me think that he thinks he is a victim of the caste system.

What do you guys think? Edited by: Animalmuther0

I find it hard to belive Adam who runs a 4.3 is so bad in coverage that he has to be benched when other saftes who run 4.7 are just fine.

"Do I deserve an explanation?" Archuleta said. "I don't know if an explanation matters anymore because what's done is done. I pretty much know what's going on. I pretty much know what it all stems from."

I don't know what you guys make of this. But as far as I'm concerned, I think Adam knows the deal here. I think he knows that he's been shafted because he's White. This is big for us, guys. Real big. And it will be even bigger, if he elborates on it in another interview.

Archuleta was a convenient scapegoat for the failures of the Redskins defense. Just like Brunnell was on the other side of the ball. Is there a pattern here?

I'm just glad this team got worse as it got more racist.

The defense actually did not improve at all and probably in my estimation got worse once Adam was benched. Sean Taylor is one of the most overrated DBs in the league yet he gets a free pass even though all he does is make a couple big hits every few games. Its obvious Adam is the victim of rascism and discrimination.

what will become of Adam, i wonder? he wants to leave Redskins, but his contract is prety hefty...

Hey we don't know for sure if the benching of Archuleta for sure was becuase Adam is white. His quotes in the story leave, to me at least, leave room for some interesting possiblities as to why he is in the doghouse. I mean if the Redskins are so racist towards Adam why did they give him such a huge contract with big bucks? I'm not saying race did not play a factor but it reamins to be seen as to whether it is the end all be all for why he was benched.

here's an interesting take on his situation, copied from the discussion about him on Bucs boards:

2Washington brought him in to play up near the line of scrimmage. Covering tight ends and running backs with the occasional third/fourth receiver thrown in. They expected him to spend a lot of time in the offensive back field. But injuries to just about every cornerback on the roster and the other cover saftey forced him to play deep cover much more than was expected. And very early on the opposition picked up on this and used sets that were designed to isolate him deep.

I don't think he will be cut, he would be a big cap hit. And I think Washington plans on going after some corner help during the off season, which would allow them to use him as originally intended. So I think he'll be around at least one more year."

Collinsworth just called Arch fast, but not a cover guy; how the hell does that work?

Collinsworth also said the main problem with the Giants' secondary is that they don't have any fast guys. But isn't there supposed to be this huge depository of effortlessly super-fast black guys for the NFL to draw from? Isn't that why there are no white cornerbacks in the NFL, even as backups -- because even the fastest, most capable whites don't compare to a single one of the blacks who play cornerback when it comes to speed, and only a few safeties do?

One of the NFL's many dirty little secrets is that it is filled with cornerbacks, safeties, wide receivers and tailbacks who aren't fast. The truly fast players stand out because there are so many who aren't.

Troy Vincent missed a tackle on Tiki Barber that ultimately cost the Redskins the game last night. I commented to my wife that Archelueta would have made that tackle and that it'd be funny if the Redskins ended up losing by a TD. Even worse, they lost by 6. A tackle on Tiki Barber after the Skins had come back to within 6, could have changed the whole game.

Sean Taylor missed a tackle on Jackson last week vs. the Rams which cost them the game too. NFL is becoming just like the NBA, people want to get on ESPN with huge hits but don't know who to tackle.

Troy Vincent wasn't even going for a big hit. He made a half-hearted attempt to trip him up or something, even worse than going for the big hit.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but Archuletta was not only sitting so Vincent could play, but when Vincent got hurt, the Redskins brought in a guy (Fox) off of WAIVERS to play ahead of him. If that's not damning evidence of racism, I don't know what is.

Adam Archuleta was sent to the Bears for a conditional 6th round pick. I hope he goes to the pro bowl next year.

good news for Adam, since Lovie Smith is real big on him. Bears lost Todd Johnson but now they will have a white safety starting on D and if Briggs leaves their two biggest stars (on what is league's most popular defense) will be white.

Awesome news. I friggin' hate the Redskins. Lovie has been trying to get Arch for a few years now. I'm sure he'll know how to better employ him without throwing him under the bus if his team struggles. I look forward to watching him and Urlacher demolish people in the middle of the field.

Amazing how quickly, even for the Caste System, that Archuleta went from heralded, top-tier safety to universally scorned and despised "bust."Reminds me of the way Chuck Cecil went from being an All Pro to out of the league just about overnight (for different reasons but still a similar kind of potential scenario). Let's hopeArchuleta comes back strong this season.

Yeah, what happened to Cecil? I remember a sportswriter raving about how hard he hit. Then I watched Cecil play and he was flying all over the place. Then he disappeared. I never did find out what happened.

i think he was forced to retire by concussions, at least officially. he even had to wear special healmet with extra padding most of the time. he was spending most of his salary on fines for what was deemed too rough of hits.

he is now safeties coach for Titans.
