2026 Track Results

The World Athletics Challenge in Hungary is this weekend. I looked at the mens 100 meters.

Sam Blaskowski is not entered in the mens 100 meters.

Lachlan Kennedy will be there. Because every sprinter here is incredible the chances for very fast times are there. It's just a matter
of the conditions and how much energy these guys have left at the very end of the long season. Kennedy still has the 6th
fastest time in the world as of today. Noah Lyles is 1st with his 9.79. Not sure if Lachie has the energy left but it would be epic
if he beat everyone here and ended the 2026 season as the fastest male sprinter in the world with a 9.78. I can dream can't I?

pretty sad when your own sports federation works against you.
yep. Zoe Hobbs will never be the world's fastest woman but I'm really glad to have witnessed her as a sprinter. The NZ record was 11.32 from 1993 and Zoe's now done 4 sub 11s and an 11.00 to drag it up from the stone age.
Gorgeous lady and not one ounce a show off.

I see Simon Wulff of Germany ran a 10.14 to win the B race in Italy today. I was looking up the stats on this guy. He has a PB of 10.06 and stands 6'-7" and weighs 235 lbs. He's a bobsledder on their Olympic team. Damn, he'd make one hell of tight end in the NFL.

What's even crazier about this very fast time is that was his only 100 meters race in 2026. He runs a 10.14 like a jog in the park. In 2025
he didn't race the 100 meters at all. In 2024 he raced the 100 meters once and ran a 10.06! So tell me why this guy is stuck in the
bobsled event when he deserves to be running track? Maybe if he ran on a regular basis he would have already went sub 10!

how intriguing - so I researched him a little. A German bobsledder - the team are world and Olympic champions and Simon shattered the long-standing start time record. I'd say he gets quite some support financially

Simon Wullf is a prominent elite German push athlete (brakeman) who transitioned into bobsledding from track and field. Known as one of Germany's fastest sprinters, he boasts an exceptional 100-meter personal best of 10.06 seconds. [1, 2, 3]
His athletic career is currently highlighted by the following key chapters:

The Switch to Bobsled & Early Success
In late 2024, Wulff made waves by swapping his sprinting spikes for bobsled boots. Because of his immense explosive speed, height, and power, he was immediately recruited by legendary multi-Olympic champion Francesco Friedrich to join his premier four-man and two-man crews. In his very first IBSF World Cup race in December 2024 in Altenberg, Wulff pushed Friedrich to a gold medal victory and shattered a long-standing start record. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Doping Suspension
Directly following that debut victory on 7 December 2024, Wulff tested positive for the prohibited stimulant methylhexanamine. [1, 2]
  • The Ruling: The International Testing Agency (ITA) handed him a 21-month period of ineligibility.
  • The Context: Anti-doping officials noted there was no evidence that Wulff cheated intentionally, but because he could not definitively prove how the substance entered his body, the suspension was upheld. He missed the 2026 Winter Olympics as a result. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Current Status and Return
His 21-month suspension officially expired on 7 September 2026. He has immediately returned to training and competing as a top pusher on Francesco Friedrich's elite squad.

He is 25 and a straight up genetic freak. Per Google, he still does have track ambitions.

Yes, Simon Wulff has already returned to running track and field events. Immediately after his 21-month doping suspension expired on September 7, 2026, he made his official sprint comeback at a track meet in Rovereto, Italy, clocking an impressive 10.14 seconds in the 100 meters. [1]
While Wulff remains heavily committed to his role as an elite push athlete for Francesco Friedrich's bobsled team, track and field continues to be a core part of his athletic career. [1, 2]

Career Status & Future Outlook
    • Dual-Sport Ambitions: Before transitioning to winter sports, Wulff established himself as one of Germany's elite track talents, running a blistering 10.06-second 100-meter dash in 2024 (making him the fourth-fastest German sprinter of all time). He has openly shared that he intends to balance both sports moving forward. [1, 2, 3]
    • Doping Suspension Cleared: His 21-month period of ineligibility—resulting from a positive test for methylhexanamine at a bobsled World Cup event in December 2024—officially concluded in early September 2026. Wulff consistently maintained that he did not knowingly ingest the substance. [1, 2]
    • Olympic Timeline: Wulff's immediate primary target is competing in the Winter Olympics. However, he has explicitly stated that he views the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles as a realistic and active goal for his track and field career. [1, 2]
If you are interested, I can provide more details regarding his bobsleigh career schedule or look up his upcoming track and field meet appearances.

at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships I think Bol will beat Werro with Keely coming in third. Jaeger will come in second in the 400m to Paulino(elevated Testosterone).

Yup, the dude won, Jaeger second. Klaver leading off the final bend but looked she was running in mud on the home stretch, perhaps because she's a mudshark.

Looking forward to the womens 100: Amy Hunt and Zoe Hobbs in the same semi; and the 800, with Keely, Werro and Bol.

Even though I was supporting Amy Hunt in the Commonwealth final, I was happy for Zoe Hobbs. Running a world class PB of 10.93 in a big final when it matters most is fantastic.

Amy Hunt seemed to have an even worse start than usual but fought through to the final in 11.02. The Americans were well clear in 10.73 and 10.75. Leduc and Hobbs didn't qualify. And unfortunately Lachie Kennedy has just been run out of a final place, finishing 5th in his semi.

From yesterday at the World Athletics Challenge in the Mens 5000 Meters.

Men’s 5000m

Olympic and European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the men’s 5000 metres in a seasonal best of 12:59.24 ahead of world champion Cole Hocker (13:00.05) and this year’s Zurich Diamond League 3000m winner Parker Wolfe (13:00.13). Biniam Mehary from Ethiopia took fourth place in 13:00.24.

The leading group passed 3000m in 7:58.94 before the pace intensified over the final two kilometres. Ethiopia’s Biniam Mehary led through 4000m in 10:33.25.

Ingebrigtsen sat fourth with 200 metres remaining before unleashing a devastating kick that left the field trailing. The Norwegian covered the final kilometre in 2:25 and the last lap in 54.39.

“I haven’t run too many 5000m races this year, or too many races at all, so I was a bit nervous,” said Ingebrigtsen, who added the Ultimate Championship title to his one Olympic, two world and four European titles over 5000m. He will now turn his focus to the 1500m on Sunday, where he will square off with Hocker and 2023 world champion Josh Kerr.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen: “Not many weeks ago I was telling my team that the 2026 season is far gone, but then it started to get a little bit better. Eventually I got my momentum going. I have gained a lot from the races in the last couple of weeks and I was running smoother and smoother. Being injured, I was fearing the worst outcome and did not know if I would be able to run at all, especially at this level. This is amazing, I am extremely happy.”

Lachlan Kennedy missed the finals because he had the 2nd worst reaction time in his semifinal heat. That's rare for him but he still ran a time of 10.05 -0.2 wind. If he has his usual fast reaction tme he is in the finals. I think he was saving a little for the final but it didn't work out. Feel sad for him as this is similar to the world champs or olympics as the best sprinters were there. It's a learning experience though and I would
rather have him mess up today than in the next 2 years. We have the world champs in 2027 and the olympics in 2028. He will be ready!

Congrats to the young man for having the best season for a white sprinter since Lemaitre had that great year a long time ago. Lachie went
sub 10 five times this year!

He had the same time Simbine had in the other semi to make a 4th and get to the final. It's so crowded near the top now that 1/100th makes a difference. Anyhow, after 6 months of competing he gets to recover now for a month or so
