2026 European Championships

I think she is around 5'6" or 5'7" so she is okay height wise and she definitely has speed for days and endurance for days, with Bol doing the 800m now it opens the door in Europe in my opinion. It would be very interesting to see how she could do.
I see the Slovakian lady Zapletalova ran a nice 52.90 to win the Euros yesterday.
She has a 52.30PB so a very good competitor for Jaeger if she tried 400H

Amy slowed up right before the finish line. Was that because she was completely gassed, or because she knew she was going to win? Looked to me like the race was too close to let up but sprinters deal in hundredths of seconds and my guess is that she knew she had the win in the bag.

Man I love seeing White sprinters winning races and just competing at the highest levels and we have more world class ones now, both men and women, than has been the case for quite a while.

Yeah I noticed that too. She seemed to start rolling a bit at the end. Possibly feeling the pressure from Asher-Smith in the lane next to her; Amy overtook her on the home straight as expected but Asher-Smith didn't give up and kept coming. Possibly a bit of fatigue after the 100m. Possibly she knew she had it, but even so in a big final you'd want to get the best time.

Anyway, the win is what matters. 22.18 slowing up at the end suggests that a sub-22 time is not far off. Really hope she can stay fit for the world champs and Olympics over the next two years.

Hunt needs to go sub 22 to really establish herself as a serious world level contender against the top ten. I think she has a bit of I'm hot mentality. She needs to throw that in the garbage and focus solely on being the best not the hottest. Now having said that she is improving every-time out and is building mental fortitude to take her to the next level. In this race I was impressed by the Swiss funner Hoenke who closed on the top 3 like a freight train but left it too late, once she gets her timing better she will be much closer to making the top 3 every-time out.

oops forgot to say I think Hunt was starting to tie up and managed to keep her stride long enough to win the race
I noticed that - I'll have to check thoroughly, but I was thinking as her 100s have become faster her 200s may have suffered just a little. It must be tough to get things in perfect balance. Or she was just tired by lots of competition

she has been trying to put on the confident face that we see in so many American and Jamaican women sprinters. Although most of the sprinters we see now seem to spend a lot of time blowing kisses to the camera, showing off the nails etc .
I think Flo-Jo got that ball rolling.
I remember at the time much preferring the Evelyn Ashford quiet, professional, pensive face - with no histrionics thrown in

At least no hideous Swoboda skin markings ... YET.
But I'm just an old fuddy-duddy who doesn't think we need fashion shows, pop music blaring at meets etc- excitement should come from the anticipation and watching great performances ....bah humbug!

In an interview after the race she said she'd been having an issue with low blood pressure recently, which can make her feel a bit faint at the end of a 200. Hopefully that will sort itself out. She's got the medals (silver at worlds, double gold here), next step is to get that sub-22.

Re "I'm hot", imho she just seems like quite an outgoing, gregarious personality who enjoys her racing, and she's spoken of the need to be confident and project confidence. I get a positive vibe from her, not an arrogant/negative one.

Not the best results today. Keely Hodgkinson beaten by Werro: she's getting a bit of a reputation as a silver queen. And no good guys in the 200m. Sad to see so many negroes representing Germany. Merkel's treachery and the ******* Plan coming to fruition. Hopefully AfD can have something to say about that.

At least the GOAT Karsten Warholm came through in the 400H. Streets ahead of the competition in a championship record 46.63. I fancy his chances at the worlds and olympics. And the Norwegian "row" celebration has transferred from football to athletics!

Heptathlon will be one to watch tomorrow. Several contenders near each other overnight. Kate O'Conner of Northern Ireland, who just won Commonwealth gold, marginally behind the Dutch and Polish athletes. Might go down to the final 800m.

I don't think Keely will beat Werro anytime soon but I do believe Bol will. Bol needs to learn how to pace an 800m as she let the top two get too far ahead to catch them even though she has better 400m time than the top two. It will come and I think it will happen next year that Bol will be challenging the world record.

Dominant win for Jaeger in the 400m: a clear second ahead, NR in 49.04. What a Games for Norway! And my favourite Lieke Klaver in 3rd, just a few minutes after another two 6 foot tall Dutch girls medalled in the heptathlon behind Kate O'Connor. Hot damn these Dutch Amazons! Gotta visit Netherlands soon.

Way to go Miss Jaeger of Norway, you are heads and tails the best female 400m sprinter in Europe! I like the fact you kept driving in the straight with great knee lift, not so easy to do when your legs are on fire! Sub 49 club for you very soon. Glad you smoked Klaver and Yemi John erasing that lost to her(Yemi John)a few years ago when you stumbled at the line I believe it was the 200m final then. Klaver because she has gone to the dark side and I have lost all respect for her.

Oh man, I had no idea about Klaver's jungle fever. Those genetics lost forever is a tragedy :( Blame the media promoting racemixing to impressionable girls in every show, song and commercial, all organised by the usual suspects.

Euros finished with Amy Hunt taking her 4th gold in the goofy mixed 4x100m relay. Italy finished top of the table with a win in the 4x400 relay, the final event of the Games. Charlie Dobson was on the last leg for GB and made an effort to overtake on the home straight but came up short and finished second; a metaphor for his career lately.

The all-white Dutch Amazons won the women's 4x400, anchored home by Femke Bol just 48 hours after her 800m bronze. I fancy her for the worlds and olympics, and possibly the WR, if she stays healthy and keeps learning and training for the longer distance.

The great Mondo Duplantis won the pole vault with ease in a championship record of 6.15. Wonderful to see an absolute GOAT in action.

gotta say Hunt won the race for England as they were trailing the whole race. Fastest Ive seen Lukenkemper run for a while now. The zoom in on those two down the stretch was very fitting, both powerful yet feminine and not juicing.. I actually enjoy the mixed 4x100m relay as it makes the women have to pick up their game. If they ran a mixed 4x200m I'd be even more interested.

There wasn't tool much to get excited about on the men's side, with the exception of the usual greats - Warholm, Mondo, and Tentoglou; but I was impressed with the young 400m runners, Jonas Phijffers of the Netherlands and Attila Molnar of Hungary.
Phijffers came 3rd in the 400m finals with a National Record of 44.41. Molnar was 4th in 44.55. They are 23 and 24 yrs old respectively.

In the finals of the 4x400 relay, they both ran the anchor leg and had great splits of 43.59 and 43.58, the 2 fastest of the entire relay.
So 2 young guys who could be great in the future.
