2026 College Football Week Two

Looking ahead to some week 2 games. After one full week there is of course a lot of absurd overreaction. The truth is that many teams and players that performed well in week one already peaked. Still a few weeks left of out conference "cupcake" games as well.

Friday

Louisville vs Villanova - Lincoln Kienholz performed superbly in his first start against New Miss in Week 1. He should be able to build on the momentum in Week 2.

Virginia vs Norfolk State - after absolutelty dominating NC State in Week "0". Beau Pribula had 100+ rush and 100+ passing yards and should have the opportunity to put up big numbers against an FCS foe. They are certainly on the short list of ACC teams to keep an eye on this year.

Rutgers vs Boston College - 2 teams that disappointed in Week one with Rutgers having one of the biggest losses of the week against UMASS. Dylan Lonergan looked pretty bad for Rutgers against UMASS. BC looked flat as well. Hopefully Mikey Munn didn't get relegated to the bench for getting beat on one TD last week.


Saturday

Howard vs Indiana - Should be an easy victory for Indiana with chances for big performances from some of our guys for the Hoosiers against an HBCU.

Oregon vs Oklahoma St - The Cowboys absolutely disappointed last week, it wasn't discussed here but their loss to Tulsa was bad. Oregon escaped with a win at home vs Boise State. Here's to hoping Oklahoma State just had to get a bad game out of it's system as they are one of the more White friendly teams in the Big 12.

Arizona St vs Texas A&M - Kentucky transfer Cutter Boley had a big game in his first action as starter for ASU. He played well on undermanned Kentucky teams so he could be the difference against a coal Aggies squad. RB Grayson Rigdon will hopefully be able to carve out a bigger role this season after a huge week one. Nothing at all to root for with the blaggies.

Oklahoma vs Michigan - Arguably the biggest game of the week just due to the pressure on Michigan and potential fallout within the program and fanbase. The Wolverines were gifted a win they did not deserve by adding a non-existent second back on the clock and their ridiculously hyped multi-million dollar QB might be facing a make or break game after playing awful against Western Michigan. If they get embarrassed in Ann Arbor, Whittingham might have to pull the plug and insert freshman Tommy Carr. Oklahoma's John Mateer looked healthy last week against an overmatched coal UTEP team. I'd like to see Parker Livingstone get more targets. The Sooners also have a decent number of White playmakers on defense.

Penn State vs Temple - The week one blowout against Marshall was one of the top positives from a caste perspective. PSU looked sharp and well coached. Hansen didn't get many carries since the game was out of hand early. Honestly, I'd expect to see a similar showing against Temple this week. The Nittany Lions under Coach Franklin last year sputtered out of the gate. This team seems to have a much different mental makeup.

South Florida vs Army - Going with the Black Knights in this game against Hartline's heavily caste USF team.

Rice vs Notre Dame - CJ Carr looked much better in the second half versus Wisconsin. Should continue his excellent play this week.

Mississippi St vs Minnesota - a bit of a sleeper caste matchup. Both teams dominated in week 1. Gophers have some good pieces on defense so rooting for the Gophers in this one. QB Drake Lindsay also played well in week 1.

UCF vs Pittsburgh - Pitt QB Mason Heintschel was arguably the best true freshman QB last season. He had a monster performance in week one throwing for 453 yards and 7 TDs and any sort of national media recognition was non-existent despite having the best game for any P4 QB last week. UCF has some defensive contributors for a change too.

Cal vs Syracuse - Really not too much of interest here. I am just a Steve Angeli fan. They also have the 6'3 240 LB from Western PA, Chris D'Appolonia that neither PSU or Pitt offered out of high school nor did they pursue him in the portal.

Duke vs Illinois - This is one of the most palatable games of the week for sure. White QBs, White RB, White WR and plenty of White defenders between the two teams.

Ohio St vs Texas - Probably the biggest game of the week in terms of playoff implications. It features two of the best QBs in the nation - Julian Sayin vs Arch Manning in a rematch of last year's letdown of a game between the same two QBs with much less experience. An early season Heisman type of showcase for both of them.

La Tech vs LSU - The Bulldogs scored 80 points last week against an FCS foe and LSU put up 51 on Clemson. LSU's defense played very well last week and Whit Weeks and Carpenter were both contributors. Sam Leavitt looked a little shaky early on before finding his footing but looked more comfortable running the ball. Both La Tech QBs were very effective as well. Could end up being a game closer than many might be predicting or an absolute blowout.

Iowa St vs Iowa - Perhaps the Whitest game of the year. Iowa St played defeated an FCS for in Week 1 with DE Isaac Terrell getting 3 sacks. Aiden Flora being named starting RB was another pleasant surprise. Looking over the stats though the offense was not overly dominant against SE Missouri State. Iowa had a surprising display of offense putting up 40 on Northern Illinois while not allowing a point scored. Questions still seem to linger at the QB position although Hank Brown seemed to out play Hecklinski.

Georgia Southern vs Clemson - The Tigers will need to come out and dominate after an ugly week one loss. Swinney faced much criticism this week after the embarrassing loss vs LSU. Vizzina and Reynolds are listed as co-starters going into this game after the offense sputtered last week. Tom Allen is still defensive coordinator so that puts them at a disadvantage. Check out Ga Southern for CB Chance Gamble. A big game against Clemson could get him noticed on draft radarss.
 
Speaking of cupcakes, Miami scored 77 points in 3 quarters yesterday against a hapless FCS opponent Florida A&M. Cooper Barkate probably didn't play too much but added his 2nd TD. A bigger effort was by freshman WR Vance Spafford who had 3 catches for 53 yards and a TD. He's a 5'-10" kid from Orange County, CA. He's listed as the backup slot WR behind Heisman hopeful Malachi Toney, so he'll be a bit buried until he goes pro in 2028. Either way, one to keep an eye out for as the coaching staff is supposedly high on him:

Behind the scenes and during his recruitment, the coaching staff has been high on Spafford for two major reasons:
  • Elite Speed and Vertical Threat: Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and wide receivers coach Kevin Beard heavily pursued Spafford for his verified 4.35 speed and explosive "big play" capability downfield, viewing him as a perfect dynamic fit for the slot position.
  • Special Teams Impact: Members of the Miami coaching staff have internally raved about Spafford's elite ability to block punts, noting that his fast getaway speed makes him an immediate weapon on special teams alongside his duties at wide receiver.
 
And one other note. Baylor, who already has a number of enjoyable pieces, will have White QB Nate Bennett starting against a cupcake instead of the overhyped fella. It might only be for a week, but I hope he impresses.

It's also worth noting that Freshman QB Luke Nickel had a great showing as well - 8/8 144 yards with 3 TDs. Thanks for bringing up Spafford, I was not aware of him!

I'll take it! Lagway blew a chance at a win against Auburn last week by blowing the 2 pt conversion on a poorly thrown ball.

Kinnick Stadium at night is a tough place to score! Looking forward to Iowa's first "test" against Iowa State - they're 14 pt favorites apparently.

Michigan football fans might be a bunch of insufferable bleeding-heart f@gs and nerds, but they are still susceptible to groupthink. This week's narrative is that another stinker from Bryce Underwood gets him permanently benched for Tommy Carr. I'll be looking for big plays from the Sooner defense, namely Wein, Heinicke, and Sullivan.

Rutgers hosts Michigan at the end of October - Halloween night to be precise. If the Scarlet Knights keep tanking, I'll be able to find some cheap seats! I think I will dress up as Josh Hokit. Rooting for BC tonight!
 
Anthony Palano, LB for Boston College, with 9 total tackles, a sack, two TFL, and TWO picks including the game-clincher against Rutgers.

From last year. He is one heck of a player. Great hands to go with his speed along with nice moves.

 
James Madison has a sophomore running back named Nick Herman that's run for 132 yards on 8 carries for 2 touchdowns against Wagner. They're ahead by 63 to3 early in the second half so Wagner has to be a truly dreadful team.

I consider myself to have a pretty elite intuition and understanding of human nature. What we call "empathy" is probably a misnomer for simply listening and being polite, thoughtful, and generous. That being said, I have no idea what goes on in the mind of a typical HCBU defensive back when they are preparing to play against Charlie Becker.

Do they cackle like hyenas with each other while watching film? Do they talk trash against him amongst themselves? Do they "haze" their underclassmen by telling them they should play him in man coverage?

The only thing I know for certain is they are not quietly respectful and "colorblind" about it. Howard must have a CB1- I wonder if he's tried to duck his assignments.
 
It looks like Oklahoma is going to blow it. Army just blew it when the had the game in hand against USF.

Typical stuff.
 
Parker Livingstone has not gotten off to a good start at Oklahoma for whatever reason….
