More proof that NFL has next to zero interest in actually developing QBs. What’s the point of trotting out a 40 less than mediocre qb to play in an otherwise meaningless game. Zero initiative for developing players and building out a roster.

Today is the “day of the (mediocre / lousy) black quarterback” in the “season of the black quarterback”. We get to enjoy Hurts, Johnson, Love, Willis and Williams and their abundance of “talent”. I don’t think any of these guys jump off the screen for great quarterback play. Now don’t get me wrong, Hurts usually operates successfully an offense tailored to him and Love often times looks like he belongs. However, compare to a game with Stafford, Maye, Goff, Burrow or Allen where you will see great throws all the time and a general command of the offense. These teams playing today all labor offensively with nothing coming easy in the passing game.

CMC has maybe two more seasons left and outside of Skatettebo - and between a new coaching staff and his injury who knows whether he will play or maybe get relegated to John Kuhn type of a role - we have only had Shipley to hope for. He has shown flashes of greatness in his first season and started this season well but clearly they don't value him anymore, not even with Barkley having a subpar season and in need of spelling.

Ben Johnson looks like the best new coach since Sean McVay in 2017. To go to a long suffering team, in the best division in football, with a black president, black gm, and black QB and immediately turn them around is pretty amazing.
