Week 4 kicks off tonight with Rice vs Charlotte.
Looking ahead to some noteworthy games this weekend
Tulsa vs Oklahoma St - Gundy's team was embarrassed against Oregon two weeks ago.
Iowa vs Rutgers on Friday night - Iowa might have finally found some offense. Rutgers has gotten off to a strong start and are at 3-0 due to the improved play of QB Athan Kaliakmanis. Iowa's defense will give Rutgers their first real challenge of the season. LB Karson Sharar is an emerging playmaker on defense to go along with several other White playmakers on that side of the ball. QB Mark Gronowski finally looked comfortable in the offense last week and hopefully the skill position players catch the ball again this week. Let's hope the dynamic Kaden Wetjen gets more offensive touches this week!
Texas Tech vs Utah - A decent match up. QB Behren Morton is one of the best QBs in the country and has been able to remain healthy so far. He is tied for first in the country with 11 TD passes. WR Coy Eakin is emerging at the best receiver on the Red Raiders however Adam Hill only managed one carry last week after a dynamic start to the season. Utah has some players of interest in WR Ryan Davis, DE John Henrey Daley (tied for first in the country with 5 sacks), LB Lander Barton and emerging DB Jackson Bennee.
Maryland vs Wisconsin - Might be the caste match up of the week. Wisconsin needs to bounce back after being embarrassed by Alabama last week. Maryland is 3-0 with a not very impressive resume up to this point. If Billy Edwards returns he will face against his former team (which he wisely transferred from) and if not hopefully Danny O'Neil bounces back after last week.
Syracuse vs Clemson - A must win game for the Tigers who are off to a slow start at 1-2. The offense has found no consistency thus far. For Syracuse QB Steve Angeli quietly leads the nation in passing yards. Hopefully this is a close game seeing the Tigers offense finally click because if not they might be staring at a long season.
SMU vs TCU - Not really a caste matchup but Josh Hoover is a very good QB so hopefully he carves up the SMU defense and knocks them out of any playoff consideration.
North Texas vs Army - Army had one of the biggest upsets of the young season two weeks ago against Kansas St. North Texas is 3-0 coming off an impressive blowout win over Washington State. QB Drew Mestemaker is becoming one of the better group of 5 QBs in the country but is still very under the radar.
Oregon St vs Oregon - This will more than likely be a blowout. Hopefully Oregon St WR Trent Walker puts up big numbers in a game in which the Beavers will probably be passing quite a bit. Oregon State is another example of a NIL QB gone wrong yet again as they missed on DJ Uiagalaleli 2 years ago.
Auburn vs Oklahoma - QB Jackson Arnold returns to Norman to face off against his former team and standout transfer QB John Mateer.
Tulane vs Ole Miss - QB Jake Retzlaff has been better than anticipated after his breakout season with BYU last year. Cuck Kiffin is shuffling through his 100% diverse QB room and playing games with the injury report.
Purdue vs Notre Dame - Purdue is off to a surprising 2-1 start. Notre Dame has lost 2 close games against 2 top 25 teams. Looking ahead Notre Dame has a fairly difficult schedule upcoming so this is a must win game. Although they are more than likely out of the playoff picture QB CJ Carr has impressed as a RS Freshman and should be the QB for the next 3-4 seasons. TE Eli Raridon is emerging as a playmaker and with a strong season should get next level attention. The Irish secondary was very much to blame for last week's loss due to poor tackling.
South Carolina vs Missouri - A matchup of a preseason heisman hype verse one of the top transfer QBs in the country Beau Pribula. Missouri is at 3-0 due to the great play of Pribula who finally gets a chance to start. A strong game this week should elevate him into the national conversation for being one of the top QBs in the country.
Florida vs Miami - A Gators loss here will effectively derail their season. The Gators surprise surprise had a media darling preseason heisman hopeful QB that has not panned out. Meanwhile QB Carson Beck looks to be back to his 2023 form guiding Miami to a 3-0 start and looking like a 1st round draft pick.
Illinois vs Indiana - Probably the most interesting game of the week as these two perennially mediocre Big Ten teams have been ascending over the past few seasons. Both feature very good QBs in Luke Altmyer and Fernando Mendoza. Illinois RB Aidan Laughery has been injured so hopefully he suits up tomorrow for the Illini. Should be a good game, I'd circle this as a must watch.
ASU vs Baylor - Another matchup of two very good QBs but not too much else. QB Sawyer Robertson is getting some positive draft buzz and QB Sam Leavitt is regarded as one of the better QBs in the country. The Sun Devils need more around him though.
Wyoming vs Colorado - Another caste matchup. The Cowboys need to run Sam Scott 25+ times against the suspect defensive line of Colorado. Just want to see a bell cow performance by a White RB against Coach "prime"
