2024 NFL Week 17

Kittle becomes the fourth to hit the thousand yard mark this season, fourth time he's done it in his great career

49ers look to have a 4/5 White OL tonight, double their usual. In addition to regular starters C Jake Brendel and RT Colton McKivitz, LT Charlie Heck and LG Nick Zakelj are filling in for the injured sumo starters.
The "makeshift" line, according to the announcers, is doing way better than their normal sumo line. Who could have guessed that all of these short-armers with boring feet could actually be good?

Purdy with a nifty run for the TD. Fun player to watch. Pearsall getting involved as well

Two top White QBs facing off and again it's the rare entertaining NFL game, has to be a coincidence.

Good as this game is, imagine how great it would be if McCaffrey, Hutchinson, Anzalone, Rodriguez, and Cominsky weren't all injured. Recency bias aside, I think this really is the worst year ever for White injuries.

I bet Pearsall would’ve been near a 1k yard receiver if he wasn’t SHOT BY A…

Tom Kennedy with the Kickoff Return for the Lions!!

Kittle = Devastation Incorporated!

Great to see Ricky Pearsall do this! After the Summer incident just didn't know what to expect!

Fun game to watch for sure, even with so many White stars out with injuries as Gator Dad mentioned.

BTW here's Tom Kennedy's latest updated NFL resume:

As great as he has been, I think his numbers would be even better if they didn't have so many weapons on the Niners. Still it's great
to be on a winning team most of the time. Let's hope the Niners can return to their dominant ways in 2025!

Jennings has faded the second half of the season after some early big games after Aiyuk went down for the season. Many observers have said Deebo Samuel has looked noticeably less explosive this season and he and the team may be parting ways anyway. Which means Pearsall's future with San Fran looks very promising. So happy that he's hung in there through adversity and is earning Purdy's trust now.

Amazing how much more enjoyable watching a game with two stud white qbs is. This is the game I remember

Purdy injured - right wrist/arm. Hopefully not an aggravation of his elbow injury.

I'll be rooting for a Detroit-Buffalo Super Bowl.

I like the Lions and Dan Campbell's style, the team hasn't won a championship since 1957 and this relatively White friendly squad would be a good one to end the drought.

This is hopefully the year Josh Allen gets at least to the Super Bowl. The Bills organization still has some gaps, particularly at WR, and has been disappointing the past few years with its draft picks and other maneuvers, but Allen has the talent to pull it off anyway. And if the Bills make it to the big game, that means the Chiefs aren't winning three in a row and that Lamar Jackson won't be there again either.

My alternative matchup is Minnesota-Buffalo. Either one would be nice from a CF perspective.

Lots of great stuff from Our Guys

Jared Goff near perfect, 26/34, 303 yards passing, 3 TDs
Sam LaPorta 6/64/1
Jack Campbell 9 total tackles
Tom Kennedy 86 total yards kick returns

Ricky Pearsall 8/141/1
George Kittle 8 rec/112 yds
Nick Bosa beast mode 2 sacks, 8 tackles (7 solo). I love his outspokenness about his based, redpilled politics. Takes a lot of courage in the Age of Soros
Juice was only allowed to touch the ball once but it was a TD
Brock Purdy did well until the end. 27/35, 377 yards passing, 3 passing TDs and a rushing TD. 2 interceptions were painful. Goff the seasoned veteran beat Purdy the young kid.

I want so badly to see a Vikings-Lions NFC championship game and so badly NOT to see a Chiefs-Ravens AFC championship game.

Vikings-Lions game next week, hopefully NFC Championship preview, was moved to the Sunday Night slot.

Best week in a long time for White pass catchers.

Pearsall, McBride, Pierce, Kittle, and Theilen all were above 100 yards with 5 TDs among them and then McConkey had 94 and 2 TDs, Gesicki had 86, Kelce had 84 and a TD, Bowers had 77 while breaking 2 rookie TE records, and Ertz had 72 and 2 TDs.

I know there is more, but that is very good overall.

It's a shame it took so late in the season to have a nice week like this.

McConkey and Pearsall have shown they were worthy draft picks. And no racial apprenticeship, they were both plugged into the lineup and produced. Pearsall's game tonight should provide a springboard into being a starter next year.

And Pierce could produce Jordy Nelson like numbers if he had a Flacco or another competent QB throwing to him. Next year will be his fourth already and he'll more than likely be stuck with Richardson again, so he may have to wait until he becomes a free agent to land with a better organization (and hopefully he has the savvy to know that and not do the idiotic move that occurs too often of an underpaid, underused White player taking a "hometown discount" out of misplaced loyalty). A smart organization would try to trade for Pierce in the offseason and sign him to a decent deal now before he becomes a free agent, but we know that won't happen.

And hopefully this season doesn't mark the demise of Cooper Kupp. Gotta hope he's still dealing with lingering ankle or hamstring injuries and isn't washed.

Rams are in the playoffs, so let’s see what happens. I would guess Kupp is a factor, although Stafford has always fixated on one guy in his career.

Pierce is only 24 and now has career highs in yards, average yards per catch, and tds. I would love to see him traded to Denver or New England in a perfect world.

LaPorta has been solid, especially of late. but the Lions have a ton of weapons.

I predict McBride is the new Kelce no matter who throws to him.

Pearsall was great all game tonight and San Fran has a lot of decisions to make, but continuing to use him on a rookie deal is the most logical solution.

McConkey has nothing to prevent him from being an All Pro other than his health.

Bowers is a lock to be a multi-year All Pro.

Theilen is old, but continues to dominate when healthy.

Kittle is the best TE I’ve ever seen when healthy.

Things are looking up in my opinion.

Also, I’m pretty sure the Rams agreed to give up 2 first round picks to the Lions so they would take on Jared Goff’s contract in exchange for Matt Stafford. Since then, Goff has been an absolute stud for the Lions, especially in 2024. I found this stat below…

Jared Goff has finished a game with a passer rating of 129.9 or higher 15 times in his career. Seven of those have come in the 2024 season.

Yes, and the Lions have drafted very well, both Black and White players. When they "unexpectedly" drafted Jack Campbell in the first round last year there was the predictable follow-up of the usual know nothing self-appointed experts questioning the pick, just as they all did this year when the 49ers selected Pearsall. The post-draft chatter this year was about how SF "reached" for Pearsall, typical and completely predictable meaningless chatter and fluff.

Didn't get to see the game but when I checked the stats I saw Pearsall with 2 for 6 yards I just stared at it thinking come on dude you gotta do better than that. Then I looked closer and saw those were his rushing attempts.

So I looked further down at the receptions and saw Pearsall 8/141/1. Now that's more like it.

a true coming out game for Pearsall, he almost got away for even bigger gains several times. he looked fast and sure handed.
