his 4 best 100 times were all achieved in 2018, 5 years ago. His 4 best 200m times were recent, all in 2021 and 2022. I think he's been hedging his bets because he can't start well. The 200s don't need the same lighting reaction from the blocks. It also means he's not starting side by side with anyone else so not direct pressure from a slower start. He's probably been guided to try 200 instead of 100 because they can't get him to start and accelerate with the world's best.
I'm thinking HE THINKS he's not a 100m chance in big meets.
I actually can't think of a white sprinter who can match it with the best for the first 20m AND finish strongly too.
Can anyone else?
At the moment we don't have anyone at the highest elite level among men but yes we need more guys to believe in themselves. This year
in America we had 2 white high school males run 10.15 wind legal. Brody Buffington and Gatlin Bair. Bair did it twice in one weekend. That
alone shows we have guys that can do as the kids are only 16 to 18 years of age. We lost so many men to other sports. Regardless I do see
some slight improvement more and more from the younger generation. Hope it's just the tip of the iceberg.
