2023 World Outdoor Season

just turned 17, Sebastian Sultana (NSW, Australia) is "raisin" the bar in the 100m sprint.
He just ran 10.27 (0.8) to break Australian under 18 record of Jack Hale and under 18 state record of Rohan Browning.
That puts him in an equal 20th world all-time. He's trained by Greg Smith, an American turned Aussie some years ago.
He dragged another young man, Carl Coorey-Ewings along with him for a 10.29 PB.

I've rejoined "masters" for this coming year and looking to do some decent shot and discus events - so I'm re-energised with a goal.
BTW, Coorey-Ewings is trained by Browning's coach - Murphy - and trains with him, at least on occasion

In my honest opinion Rohan Browning has to reprove himself a little in 2023. It pains me to say that but his move to Italy
to train backfired on him bad. Yes he had injuries too and that didn't help. I predicted in 2022 that 3 guys would be the
next sub 10 white sprinters. I was off a little as only one of them (matthew boling) accomplished this. I still stand by my
prediciton that the other two can do this but I'm a little worried about both. More about Julian Wagner as I don't see Germany
getting behind him enough. However both Wagner and Browning to need to get that wind legal sub 10 as soon as possible. It's
such a mental barrier to most sprinters. The sooner you take that weight off your shoulders the better. Then you can run loosly
and more relaxed not just chasing times round the clock. I hope they both get over the hump this year but father time is not usually
friendly to most white sprinters. Wagner and Browning are both now gonna 25 years old so it's time to shine and then build on that
foundation. Hoping for good health and very fast times in 2023. I also do see Boling stepping it up a little more this year. I see multiple
sub 10 and sub 20's barring injuries. The main question with Boling is just how fast an he go? It will be fun to wach. Can't wait for track!

in mid November 18 year old Caleb Law (bronze in world junior 200m) took his 100m PB to 10.26 (1.4) for his 2023 initial hit out.
I hope those rugby codes aren't planning to snatch him or Sultana (10.27).

If Jack Hale doesn't change things in his preparation I can't see him beating these 2 young lads this season.
They are excited and hungry while for Jack it will be going through the same motions as every other season and just hoping.

Australia's top 5 teenagers at present with 3 of them yet to compete for 2023 season so they should improve their times very soon.

Our top girls have yet to show for the season so 17 year old Torrie Lewis' last December 100 time of 11.33 (1.5) and her March time of 11.35 (-0.5) still stand for the moment.
Those runs gave her the next best 2 times for an under 18 years athlete after Raelene Boyle's 1968 Olympic 11.20

They recently posted the times needed to make the 2024 Olympics. Most of these times are gonna be very hard for most athletes.
Especially for men & women that are running natural. It seems very unfair to me.

My understanding is that not every competitor running the 100m in Paris needs the qualifying time if they accumulate enough points by competing hard and regularly. So those who put a lot in should get plenty of points while those who shirk competition will lose out.
Maybe I misunderstood .... but I picked that up in a forum somewhere

Regard to Browning V Kerley - there's a lot of hype and manufactured emotion around but logically it will need Kerley to be well short of top form and Browning a big PB to even come close over 200m.
I'm not holding my breath that a 20.71 athlete can pull a miracle out of a hat. There's a full second difference in their personal bests

Yes he has 0 chance. Even over 100 unless Kerley stumbles and almost falls down. It's not always about winning. Hoping Kerley can help
pull Browning to his first wind legal sub 10 as well as a new personal best over 200 meters probably around 20.30's to 20.40's I'm guessing.

The minimum qualification time is too tough and is saying we can't catch the top drug cheats unless they are stupid and mistime their washout window.

22 Year Old Tiaan Whelpton of New Zealand equaled his personal best time in the 100 meters twice today. He ran an amazingly
fast 10.18 with 0 wind! This kid is quite the talent!

Browning has no chance even on his best day versus Kerley. I personally believe Kerley is not competing clean....

The minimum qualification time is too tough and is saying we can't catch the top drug cheats unless they are stupid and mistime their washout window.

of course Browning doesn't have a hope against Kerley ... it's purely hype.
Kerley may be content to race easy and win by only a few metres but we all know it's just a bit of promotion for him, not an important meet.
I do remember we had good 1990s meets here and invited U.S. guests like Michael Johnson and Carl Lewis leading up to us holding the 2000 Olympics. I saw our Damien Marsh smash Johnson over 100 and beat Dennis Mitchell over 60

Tiaan Whelpton seems to have had an equal result to his 2022 season opener BUT it's better.
Hastings, NZ last year his 10.18 was with a +1.9 mps
Hastings, NZ this year, same weekend, his 10.18 was with a +0.4 mps

Jacob is doing a little better season by season - he could well surpass Jack Hale this year and become the fastest man the little island state of Tasmania has ever produced.

Jack Hale had a long interview recently. He said he feels this is the year he takes it to the next level. Only time will tell with 3 or 4 mediocre years now but I've never seen him appear more confident. His body language shows maybe he has changed a little. We will have to see it to
believe it but you can't help but to root for the kid! Hale also talked about how there is no one he wants to beat more than Browning. If you
want to be the best you have to equal and then beat the best. I like his high goals. One race at a time Jack. Get that Hail Storm Nickname back!

Australia has it's first really big 100 Meters Race with the majority of the top Aussie Sprinters racing for the first time this season. Anxious
to see how many of these men look and especially Rohan Browning. Also Jack Hale and Jacob Despard to name a few.
