Thought it would be worth starting a 2023 thread for the 49ers they are not a great team in terms of depth but have some elite world class players at key positions.
Quarterback - Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen
Running Back - Christian McCaffery
Full Back - Kyle Juszczyk
Tight End - George Kittle, Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley
Offensive Tackle - Colton McKivitz and Nick Zakelj
Offensive Guard - Joe Feliciano
Centre - Jake Brendel
Defensive End - Nick Bosa
Kicker - Jake Moody
Punter - Mitch Wishnowsky
Long Snapper - Taybor Pepper
Totals
Starters (without specialists) 7
Roster totals 16
This is Brock Purdys team after winning his first seven starts including two in the playoffs in relief of Trey Lance and Jimmy Garropolo who have both now departed to the Cowboys and the Raiders.
The league needs to pay attention and take note of the gems available late in the draft, no need for boom and bust developmental projects when you have the real thing in the seventh round!
Christian McCaffrey stars as the teams do it all feature back and I would say best back in the whole league after his trade from the Panthers.
Last season for example he had 244 carries for 1139 yards and 8 TDs on 4.7 average per carry and add the 85 receptions for 741 yards with another 5 TD.
Fighting in the trenches and out the backfield with McCaffrey is the best full back in the league Kyle Juszczyk.
No wide outs but they do have the second best tight end in the league IMO with Kittle who had 11 touchdowns on 86 targets with 60 receptions and 765 yards.
Two and three on the tight end chart are also white in Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley.
Two starters on the o line including Connor McKivitz who replaced Mike McGlinchey at right tackle.
Must not forget Nick Bosa who got his deserved extension 5 years 170 million! He is an elite top 5 defensive end and will be crucial to them on that side of the ball. He led the whole league with 18.5 sacks in 2022.
