Yes. We used to have a French poster here that documented how young players are systematically discriminated against. If you go digging through the soccer subsection, you can probably find some excellent information.

The best example I can remember is that even Griezmann, who is arguably the best French player, was not wanted amongst the youth teams. He was labeled too small, as the French system love those early maturing large black players who litter the national team and French league. So Griezmann had to move to Spain as a teen and developed into the star he is now. If he stayed in France, he probably be waiting tables at a brassiere right now.

I forgot about papin, but papin had a bit of bad luck, he caught an unlucky French generation (late 80's early 90's, He played 86, but his peak was later) and made a bad career decision by going to Milan, and the following season he former team olympique de Marseille Being Champion of the Champions League, Another outstanding Frenchman would be Deschamps, Emanuel Petit is also a name, but none of the names equaled Platini, Zidane or even Kopa, the one who came closest was papin, unfortunately his bad luck in the French national team and not being in the champion team of the Champions league of Marseille Damaged his legacy a little

Giroud he has a better goal average than Henry, and he is not much talked about, I remember that he was very criticized in the 2018 cup, for not scoring goals (I think he was greatly harmed by the team's system), happy he scored two goals today
