2021 Track Season Results

Hana has raced 3 times this week trying to simulate rounds - an experiment I think , coz we Aussies don't really have enough international practice (certainly in 20/21) to know how each of our athletes will handle it. She has enough points to gain Games entry now. Whether AA selects her is another story.
I'm already uncertain how Browning will go - he's not competing atm while other international athletes are getting to compete all over the place. So no racing faster athletes or running rounds - how do they figure he'll be competitive?

Congrats to Hana and I hope that Australia awards her for her massive efforts. If nothing else it's an experience to help her grow as an rising level sprinter trying to get to the top of the sprints. It's not that much money to send an extra sprinter
in the big picture when you see how much governments all around the world waste on stupid things every year. I hope they select her as she will inspire so many young aussie girls no matter where she finishes.

Yeah with Browning it's a little disapointing but it's not him. I guarantee it's the country. No disrespect my long time friend. Australia has some of the most absurd covid restrictions in the world. They have tried their best to resemble China as
the way to go to the future. Please understand this is not an attack on you but your leaders. I will say it's strange that she tries and he doesn't but againt she has no choice. He has met the standard so maybe other than the covid restrictions it's
just Australia being cheap with their athletes and the budget which is normal for down under. It's a sad state of affairs as Rohan Browning is an elite sprinter that still has upside. They should support him period! Hope your doing good mate. :)

They are banning her for pot!?! Oh come on, that is ridiculous.

I mean, I'm happy Prandini is in, but that is stupid and they are making yet another black martyr.

The pot ban is in line with an international (IOC) rule. If the USADA changed their policy retroactively to allow marijuana use and accommodate her, they would risk her disqualification at the Olympics. Countries like Japan don't need to welcome any more American-style dysfunction into their society.

The story that Richardson is presenting is that she ate some gummies because she was traumatized to learn that her birth mother had died when a reporter asked her about it. She was raised by her aunt and grandmother. It's a sympathetic story and also a conscious consumption choice. She can still go to the Olympics to run the 4x100 relay, which falls after her 30-day ban, if the committee selects her.

The whole point is that she knew it was against the rules and did it anyways...end of story.

On another note in regards to Prandini: she is essentially going forwards and faster at age 28 y 7 months of age and Schippers who is 5 months older than Prandini is getting slower and slower. Prandini 5'8" has never bulked up is muscular but slender whereas Schippers 5'10 1/2" is very muscular...interesting.

Hanna Basic deserves to go just based on her efforts...if she did she will not make it out of the opening rounds but the experience would be so beneficial to her and young Aussie sprinters.

Del Ponte is a lovely sprinter to watch, her motion is so smooth, just needs to get to the next level.

True enough, but they see a danger in setting precedents I guess. Anyone will be able to cry foul when they think they deserve selection.

With Browning I just can't see how he can run to his optimum if he stays here not racing. Like how can someone become race-hardened without racing? I also think his legal studies take much of his time.
Anyhow, let's hope coach Murphy has things in hand

I was going to sarcastically ask if Browning had retired . . . since he has seemingly disappeared from competitions.

If your a backup qb on a american football team you can't learn by just holding a clip board. You need to be in the game seeing things happen at game speed and how you handle the pressure. Same with basketball
or any other sport. If your sitting on the bench your not getting any better and most likely regressing. Track is a game of centimeters and millimeters separating the best many times. I too don't see how he can be race
ready without competition in the last 3 months. Like you said though, I hope Coach Murphy knows what he is doing. At least get him 1 or 2 races before Tokyo and time is running out quickly.

not everyone here agrees lockdowns should continue - if more afraidy cats got vaccinated they wouldn't do lock down but some are fearful of Astra Zeneca (ridiculously low odds of something going wrong) because I don't think they understand statistics - government is looking at letting vaccinated people from outside the country in and not have to go into quarantine from this week on though. My 3rd child may be one of them - he's been stuck in France for 2 years (although he loves it there in Val D'Isere).
On the upside is that we've had ONE death only from this virus in 2021. They don't want to risk getting it into hospitals and old age homes again where people will drop like flies.

I'll endeavour to see what is happening with Browning's prep.
BTW, if you ever do Facebook you can join Athletics Australia group. Lots of good information straight from the horse's mouth

UPDATE W/L : Athletics Australia has selected Hana Basic, rewarding her for her determination and commitment in going O/S for racing at a higher level I guess.

Henrik Larson is running the 100 with the big boys tomorrow in Stockholm. Hopefully he gets pulled to a PB.

Your not lieing. Every other sprinter has run sub 10's either this year or in their careers. He is in a race like an Olympic Semi Final or Final. Wow I hope he can stay relaxed but in order to be
the best you have to start to compete with the best. If the conditions are good and he stays relaxed(not easy with this field of sprinters), I will say he runs a 10.10 to 10.15 time! Good luck to the kid.

Consequences. Some people make a choice and disregard the possible consequences. I think her decision making is a symptom of a generational problem.

Next Friday, Tortu goes in the Monaco Diamond League 100. I hope he can turn things around.

Some news from Poland. 19 year old Jakub Pietrusa ran a wind legal 10.32 today to move him to the second fastest European Under 20 Time after another white guy. The leader in the
under 20 men is Matteo Melluzzo from Italy. This give both of these fine young sprinters an good chance to comepte for a spot on the medal stand at the 2021 European Under 20 Championships.
