ok ... watching all the to and froing here........ there may not ever be another white 100 metre champion (I'm not a prophet). It remains a sport dominated by very fast black guys and there are many, many more of them competing in this event so it seems. There are thousands of them all over the world who hope sprinting may their chance for a lifelong meal ticket.
Most fast white guys I have followed are studying something for a career choice and won't ever put their all into becoming a professional 100/200m sprinter - I think we are culturally different this way. Guliyev did that and it worked out for him but I'm not certain many have that mindset.
But I'm here, have been 15/16 years, to bone up on future and present white track talents and have had many reasons to be satisfied - Kilty's world 60m title, Guliyev's World 200 title, Lemaitre's bronzes for 200m in both the Olympics and the Worlds...... plus the sub 10s that have come and are always just around the corner giving hope for next season.
We may well see more and more Asian sprinters making sub 10 common place and this makes for huge interest. We saw a Chinese world 100mH WR holder, both China and Japan have/had some great 4x100 teams....... and I'm not anti-anyone in sprinting so I don't see it as a slap in the face if black sprinters continue to dominate as long as good white kids aren't led away from the sport because their skin colour persuades others, others who often have incentives to recruit stereotypically for the best chance of success, to push them into other events.
