60 Meters
German Record! Kevin Kranz equalizes the Reus record with 6.52 seconds

He had already indicated his top form with 6.55 seconds in the preliminaries. And in the 60-meter final of the Hallen-DM in Dortmund, Kevin Kranz was able to improve further. With 6.52 seconds, the athlete from the sprint team Wetzlar set exactly the German indoor record set by Julian Reus in 2016.

The 22-year-old got off to an almost perfect start in the final with a reaction time of 0.116 seconds and moved up and away from the competition with quick steps. The time is synonymous with a new European season best time. In a worldwide comparison, only the former world indoor champion Trayvon Bromell (USA) was four hundredths faster this indoor season.

In the wake of the new German indoor record holder, there were further personal bests. Julian Wagner (LC Top Team Thüringen) finished second with 6.59 seconds, thus staying below the 6.60-second mark for the first time. Kevin Kranz‘ teammate Michael Pohl secured bronze one hundredth behind. Philipp Corucle (VfB Stuttgart; 6.62 sec) and Marvin Schulte (SC DHfK Leipzig; 6.64 sec) also stormed to new best times in the Dortmund record race.

Thanks for the video WL. Max Hess was a super talent as a world junior. I hope this is a breakthrough to Olympic Medals.

The Triple Jump was White dominated until the last ten years or so. Jon Edwards UK still holds the World Record.

Yes I remember Jonathan Edwards the white triple jump world record holder and olympic champion very well. He was simply incredible and I hope his world record continues to stand for decades to come! It's already stood for around 30 years! :)

Hey Yuri. Love having you here with your immense track & field knowledge. Swoboda was amazing today as usual but give me your thougts on the german mens & womens 60 meter champions today? Those are great times. I think we are going
to see Kevin Kranz take a msjor step forward this summer. Hoping for at least a few sub 10.10's and maybe more.

Amelie-Sophie Lederer looked effortless in the women’s 60m. Ok start/ picked up and carried well/ ok close. I had never heard about her.
I don’t know anything about her yet, so thanks for the video. I can see her around 11.00sec in the 100m; how she carries her speed so easily.

Kevin Kranz looked great. He tends to decelerate badly after 80m so this great 6.52 sec time should give him a platform to just break the ten second barrier in the right conditions against other stars.
Richard Kilty was 6.49/10.01 and an athlete who had a horrible time after 65 meters. Bingtan Su has 6.42/9.91, another athlete who flames out after 80m.
I would bet Kevin Kranz goes 9.99 or better in the right setting.

some very good indoor performances in Europe this weekend.

Meanwhile outdoors, Liz Clay (trained by Sharon Hannan, Sally's old coach) further lowers her personal best 100H to 12.72 with heptahlete Celeste Mucci into the 12s for the first time.

Femke Bol lowers her 400m PR for the 4th time this year; now she's down to 50.64.
Another European leading time. She's on fire.

MM thanks for the video of Liz Clay running 12.72, that is a time which is knocking on the door of being a top 10 contender worldwide and shows potential to crack into the low 12.60's. Mucci is about as lean muscled/ripped as a female can get. I had a gf in the last 10 years that had similar physique which was amazing and has ruined it for me for plumpies. What place did Mucci come in? The videographer messed up at the finish so it was hard to tell.

Glad to see Bol knocking her 400 time lower each outing but it does worry me abit about how she is doing it. I truly hope it is on the up and up and that she continues her attack on the 400m. Question arises: will she run the 400mh this outdoor season or focus strictly on the 400m outdoors?

I don't worry about Femke Bol at all!
She is only 20 yrs old, so her body is maturing.
She also started training with a new coach last year, so I believe this is all part of her natural progression.
Plus she is tall and thin - not muscular at all.

Her training partner is Lieke Klaver, who is much more muscular. I worry more about someone built like that.
But Lieke is also young and with the new coach. I think their progress is legitimate.

If I were to raise my eyebrows about anyone mentioned above, it would be Amelie-Sophie Lederer, because she is almost 27 yrs old and hasn't been one of German's top sprinters.
Then she suddenly becomes German indoor champ with a fantastic time. I don't suspect her at all; but those circumstances are much more 'suspicious' than Femke Bol.

Btw, I think Femke Bol will focus on the 400m hurdles outdoors.

I could be wrong but I believe sprintstar was talking about he was afraid she might switch events for good. I would go where the money & fame is better. To be honest she is good en0ugh
to do both as long as it's not at a world champs or olympics.

My thoughts exactly ...... four years pf 7.35 to 7.39 and then this out of the blue.

yep, there's a smooth, fluent rhythm to her. If she can run efficiently like this and stave off injury I believe she'll go 49s outdoors this year
