I've never heard the name before this Rohan appeared in the Australian "all-schools" in 2014

As a long time Aussie Track & Field Fan can we please have the weathermen be wrong? It happens sometimes and I'm hoping it happens tommorow.

Browning vs Hale with good weather usually equals fireworks. Please let the weathermen be wrong. :)

several of the best guys had a bye through the 1st round it appears. Maybe the top 5/6. I didn't see Browning's name but my heart stared again when I noticed the other top sprinters of the field were not listed in the heats result.
So several hours to go yet

Virginia Tech (former caste aside tailback) Cole Beck has decided to focus exclusively on track. he ran a 6.73 to take third place at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, SC today.

hopefully, his frustrations from football (along with the extra weight he put on for the gridiron) won’t interfere with his progress moving forward. now a junior, Beck clearly has speed (10.22 100m), and now that he’s not wasting his time “playing” a position (that his coaches were never gonna give him significant reps at), hopefully that speed will continue to improve.

Hopefully Hale and Browning were preserving themselves in the heats. Would be awesome to both see them go Sub 10.

unimpressed after all the hype - Browning and Hale with virtually zero wind needs to go 10.10 consistently.
Julie Brims is the best result of the day so far.
A 55 year old in open competition, she just further lowered her world 55 years> 100metre time with a legal 12.24. A ridiculous age-graded time of 9.95
Final to come

At the New Balance meet in New York today, Hannah Cunliffe and Jenna Prandini both performed very, very well in the 60 meters.
The winner ran a fast 7.15, with Cunliffe right there with her in 2nd in 7.17.
3rd place ran 7.19 and Prandini did too, getting 4th place 3/1000s behind.

Great to see these girls showing up at a top meet and performing so well!

Other major news from this weekend, is 2 University of Oregon runners, smashed the NCAA indoor mile record.
Their names are Cooper Teare and Cole Hocker, and they ran 3:50.39 and 3:50.55 respectively. The previous record was 3:52.01, so they really destroyed it.
I've never heard of these guys (although I don't follow middle distance running as closely as the sprint events), but still most people were shocked by their performances.

I have heard that a new type of shoes/spikes are leading to all the fast times we are seeing this indoor season, but of course we don't really know.

No, not flash at all - although he has 6 weeks or so to peak for our championships. He may get a 20.50 but we have no great 200 sprinters. Most of our 100 guys are too lazy to do it.
At one time in the 90's and early 2000's Australia had a few men that made World Championship 200m finals. You would think one of this cohort could have nipped the record. Patrick Johnson made a final in this event in this time period and he ran sub 10 during this period, yet he never got to a sub 20.

I know Shirvington typified the "lazy" 100m runner as his pb in the 200 was significantly slower than his 100m pb.

I think that running the deuce helps your 100 meters. When sprinting over 100 meters, you can only run all out for around 50-60 meters. After that you just have to totally relax and let your speed endurance help keep you loose. You don't
want to tighten up because that slows you down alot. The 200 can help speed endurance and help you to not tie up so quickly. When you compete in many 200 meters over the season, the 100 should be a cake walk and it should not be that
hard to keep loose, relaxed and have proper form to maintain that speed a little longer and hold it better to the finish line. So usually running the 200 meters does help your 100 meters personal best times to drop a little. Just my opinion.
