Long racial apprenticeships for Breese and Funk will occur if they ever even see significant playing time. I wouldn't get too excited at this point. Funk may have the better shot if a Hillis Jinx scenario takes place as he'll hopefully have only two or three RBs ahead of him on the depth chart. After Akers and Henderson the Rams currently have garbage on their roster at running back.

Sometimes I wonder if the “Hillis jinx” is what ended fullbacks in the nfl. The powers that be didn’t want another large white man running roughshod over the league so out comes the spread offense. Killed two birds with one stone, no more white power runners due injury and eliminate the pocket passer. Just a fun thought!

He went to as good a team as any given their current depth chart and McVay being relatively White friendly, so if things break right he has at least a fighting chance at playing time down the road, maybe significant playing time. But the way the NFL is, as a 7th round draft pick he has just as good a chance of being cut and joining the mountain of White RBs discarded over the past 35 years.

He is more explosive than Laird, maybe he can break off a long run in garbage duty and earn more playing time.

I had the sound off, but ESPN actually did show a highlight reel for Funk.

I did see Peter Schrager mention he had been drafted, at which point Charles Davis and Rich Eisen burst out laughing. It may have had something to do with them previously making fun of his last name. As if Eisen would mock any of the many crazy first and last names of the blacks selected. Last night Eisen made some remark about Machine Gun Kelly looking like Cooper Kupp -- because they both have blonde hair I guess. Eisen also freaked out when the Texans picked Davis Mills, all but demanding it be a national controversy. Can't see him doing that if they had picked a black QB.

Eisen is a lot more sly than an idiot like Max Kellerman, but his bias and dislike of Whites is often displayed for those who know how to read between the lines.

More important is the rounds they were selected in. Sixth and seventh round draft picks have a much more difficult time finding playing time, and even making rosters, than early round picks. Most guys picked that late are seen as special teamers at best. Add in the almost mandatory racial apprenticeships and the road to starting is very difficult.

Jamie Newman - the black quarterback that transferred from Wake Forest to UGA and then sat out due to covid goes undrafted. He was filled with preseason hype - listed as the top potential qb to be drafted as well as a potential heisman candidate in addition to being the “type” of quarterback that would push UGA over the edge in terms of competing for a national championship.

Eisen loves to mock kickers.

I consider Schrager to easily be the fairest of the analysts of all those working the draft the past three days for ESPN and NFL Network. Charles Davis isn't that bad either.
