2021 College Football Week 7

Tuesday night football is back.

App State faces off against Louisiana.

At noon, Nebraska (~13 white starters, black quarterback) is a slight road favorite against Minnesota (~8 white starters, white QB).

The 3:30pm slot sees #2 Iowa (~14) host Purdue (~8 white starters, still missing RB Horvath to injury). Hopefully, stud DE George Karlaftis wreaks a little bit but not too much havoc on the Hawkeyes' snowplow line. Iowa is the CF team of the year, and any losses would be very disappointing at this stage. BYU (~12) goes to Baylor (~8) with both teams at 5-1 (the Cougars had four fumbles from non-whites last week as their black quarterback returned to lose their first game of the season). #11 Kentucky is undefeated and traveling to new top-ranked Georgia. I'm normally ambivalent about SEC matchups and hope they eat each other, but Georgia has seen the surprise emergence of true freshman TE Brock Bowers (20 receptions, 315 yards, 4 TDs: all team highs) and fellow freshman WR Ladd McConkey (16 receptions, 280 yards, 2 TDs: all are 2nd place on the team). So, I'm going to hold steady for the Bulldogs to run the table in the SEC and see who they land up against in December/January.

At 7:30pm, underachieving Iowa State (~10) goes as favorites to Kansas State (~11). QB Brock Purdy and TE Charlie Kolar (17 catches, 238 yds, 2 TDs) have not really bolstered their draft stock so far this year. #13 Ole Miss (~8) is just three point favorites against the foul Tennessee Volunteers (~3). You might tune in to Stanford (~5) at Washington State (~6) to watch Cougars RB Max Borghi return from injury - or to find out if coach Nick Rolovich will receive his religious exemption from the deadly vaxx.

Army (~9) should get pummeled by Wisconsin (~15) at 8pm. Air Force (~11) plays on the blue field against Boise State (~7) at 9pm.

You can pick your own Game of the Week, but I can only bear to watch about one game of football per weekend, and this time it's gonna be Kentucky vs Georgia (with some channel surfing of course). Truly, these are amazing times we are living in. Let's go McHonkies!

I am in total agreement with you regarding UGA. They need to run the table to remain number one - the pickings are slim but the reality is that we would all rather see Bowers/McConkey making big plays in the college football playoff. Levis has been a great transfer portal story and certainly offers the Wildcats an element that has been missing from the QB position for the last several years.

Sparty plays Indiana in a game they should win. MSU has been clicking on all cylinders, has an emerging talent at the QB position, the should be Heisman front runner at RB (media bias is propping up the undeserving quotas from Alabama and Ohio St over him) and enough lunch-pail defenders to keep this team of interest to us. The Hoosiers were a preseason media darling that imploded right out of the gate in Iowa's trouncing of them opening weekend. Jack Tuttle may start with Coach Allen's oft-injured pet Quota injured once again. Big game for Tuttle - hopefully he performs well but ultimately the Spartans need to win to keep pace in playoff race.

I hope the Bearcats lose at least a couple of games this season. SMU in November looks to be the biggest obstacle to knock them out of the college football playoff. They go up against UCF this weekend. WR Alec Pierce is the only reason to track this game - he's received the most favorable pre-draft buzz for a White WR since Cooper Kupp - If I am wrong on that anyone can feel free to correct me.

The Boilermakers boast a solid passing game, this game makes me a little nervous since Moss will not be roaming the secondary. At some point they Hawkeyes will need to open up the passing game and rely on Petras. Iowa has plenty of capable receiving options - LaPorta, Jones, Ragaini, Lachey.

Pittsburgh - Va Tech - this game is of more interest to me due to QB Kenny Pickett and his slow creep up draft boards. Outside of Pickett there is not much of interest to me in this game.

Alabama - Miss St - This game could be entertaining or a blow out. Leach typically takes a few years to get his system in place before he is able to wreak a little havoc and provide an upset here and there. It looks like he has found the QB to run his system in Will Rogers. Another Alabama loss should knock them squarely out of play off consideration.

Army - Wisconsin - I fully expect the Badgers to dominate this game and get back to .500 - It's going to be two teams that run the ball 40+ times each.

Hawaii - Nevada is the late game - QB Carson Strong has lived up to the expectations of the draft community so far. I caught some of the game last week he played, he certainly looks the part, has very good arm strength and an accurate deep ball passer.

Perhaps even more remarkable than McConkey and Bowers is the chance that Dan Jackson is getting at Georgia. That's a white player in the SEC on defense! And he's not at Arkansas! McConkey was lightly recruited, Bowers was a high level recruit, but Jackson is a walkon. Good enough to play for the #1 team in the country, but not good enough for a scholarship offer there or anywhere else. Hmmm, almost like the deck was stacked against him.

i pointed it out to my son, as well. the commentators talked about the “need to keep an eye on that (injury),” but of course the afflete was back in the very next series with nary a limp after the “serious” injury (sic).

not to be outdone by their own idiocy, the commentators later insisted that if a poorly thrown ball to Ross had been on target then, “that was a sure touchdown.” please.

speaking of the Clemson offense, how could anyone think DJ Ukulele would compare favorably to the just-departed Lawrence? Ukulele is a big dude with a strong arm, but he moves like he’s running in sand, struggles to read what the defense is doing, and doesn’t appear to be that accurate ,,, but dat upside, i guess.

Wow Justin Barron is huge for a safety as a freshman! (6’4” 215lbs) Apparently he is a converted WR. Thanks for introducing him to us, I’ve never heard of him!

speaking of big dudes ... i love to watch gunners on punt coverage. call me weird. but tonight i’ve seen something i can’t recall ever having seen before at the position: a tight end!!!

i immediately noticed a big man lined up at gunner, flying down the field for Syracuse, and thought to myself “that’s a BIG dude really moving!” so i looked him up, and according to the Syracuse roster the player is sophomore Tight End Luke Benson. he’s listed at 6-foot-4, 240lbs. he can obviously RUN, so i wonder why he’s not more involved in the game plan for the Orange ...

for Clemson, it’s obvious why their offense is struggling. the black quarterback is inaccurate, the receivers drop LOTS of balls on the infrequent occasions they’re thrown on target (although to be fair, they make some ridiculous grabs, as well), and they’re killing themselves with pre-snap penalties. they’re a train wreck.

It's a shame Will Shipley couldn't play on national tv on a Friday Night. I just hope he gets healthy fast.

So many of our guys have gotten hurt this year. Especially running backs. It's a brutal position as you take alot of wear & tear.

Yep Luke Benson was a superb 100m guy in high school. I remember an 80 yard TD he had in 2019!

Hudson Clark from Arkansas the white corner back called for a ridiculous pass interference call on a ball that sailed five yards out of play. Not a true believer in referees calling calls unfairly on white players just think referees are pretty inept fullstop but it makes you wonder when the only starting white cornerback is called for that.
