Since 2017 the white starters were 7, 5 and 1. This year probably 1.

I can't stand this team. Everything about them reeks of a caste design for living. Every year the media drools over their team speed and athleticism. They neglect to mention their penchant for brainless play. Not to mention their undisciplined play. To wit they just shut down practice due to 41 COVID cases. For comparison BYU is as clean as a whistle. I haven't been interested in this team since 2013 when nifty WR Zach Rogers (32-491-7) was making some noise. Junior guard transfer Cade Mays would be listed as a starter but that is only if he is deemed eligible and at the moment I don't believe he has gotten the green light. Won't change the big story either way.

Players to watch: QB Brian Maurer, OL Cooper Mays, P Paxton Brooks who starts, what the hell.

Tennessee senior TE Austin Pope (back) is out indefinitely and may miss the 2020 season.
This is troubling news as Pope (6'4/235) has now had back surgery each of the past two offseasons. He was used primarily as an in-line blocker in the run game, having only recorded four catches last season even though he started 11 games. There is not much experience behind Pope, so if he is not able to suit up this year it would be a big loss. Tennessee opens up against South Carolina in Columbia on September 26th.

Tennessee junior OL Cade Mays won his NCAA appeal for eligibility in 2020.
Mays (6'6/328) was originally denied an eligibility waiver in August, but fortunately the NCAA has come around and granted his waiver on appeal. Mays now must wait for the SEC to clear him since nothing can be accomplished succinctly when it comes to college football bureaucracy. Mays, a former five-star recruit, started 18 games during his two seasons at Georgia and will immediately assume starting duties at Tennessee if his SEC eligibility is granted. The Vols look forward to having Mays in the lineup September 26th when they open at South Carolina.

Tennessee will be firing HC Jeremy Pruitt with cause, according to Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.
The decision isn't all that surprising, as Pruitt was unable to turn the Volunteers into a contender in the SEC East. What is surprising is the drawn-out way in which this was handled, as rumblings about Pruitt's job security began towards the end of the season. There was also an internal investigation into possible NCAA violations which began in early January, and the findings are why Pruitt is being fired with cause. Yet even with all of this going on, former Auburn DC Kevin Steele was hired shortly after the investigation was made public. Pruitt was signed to an extension that ran through the 2025 season just before the 2020 campaign began, but his being fired with cause may get Tennessee off the hook when it comes to a potential buyout. Also, AD Phillip Fulmer will be retiring.

Yep I said months ago the boosters probably said "Copy Bama" and get a roster that looks like Alabama's. Easier said than done, I'm just guessing but I would bet that Bama has a mini industry surrounding the team that keeps the players inline and any corruption is handled with top notch lawyer like efficiency. TN tried the easy way and lost.

Former USC senior DT Caleb Tremblay transferred to Tennessee.
Tremblay (6'5"/270) seldom played in 2020, due in part to the shortened PAC-12 schedule. In 2019, however, Tremblay played snaps as a rotational player. earning 19 tackles and two sacks that season. A former four-star JUCO recruit in USC's 2018 signing class, Tremblay has one year of eligibility remaining. He joins new HC Josh Heupel's defense and with a new staff in town he should have a clean slate to carve out a role in the unsettled position group.

The Volunteers are a joke and have been for years. We may actually see the string of mediocre non-white QB play get interrupted this year. Supposedly Harrison Bailey and Brandon Maurer were much better than the Va Tech quota transfer during the spring game. Don't worry because the new aged cuck head coach heupel has a black quarterback recruit and the biggest hyped black quarterback from last year Joe Milton transferring in during the summer.

Will Black Privilege protect this idiot? My guess is yes it will.

Tennessee freshman QB Kaidon Salter was charged with possession of marijuana on Saturday.
Salter (6'1/190) was driving on Knoxville's Cumberland Ave Strip around 3 AM on Saturday morning when he was stopped by UTPD for not having functional tail lights. He then allegedly told the passenger, fellow UT football player Amari McNeil, to throw apparently four grams of marijuana out the window. They were both charged and released on their own personal recognizance. It's another unfortunate misstep from the highly touted four-star freshman who was suspended in March by HC Josh Heupel after being involved in another on-campus incident.

Salter (6'1/190) was cited for a possession of marijuana charge on Saturday. Now, not even a full week later, the former four-star recruit has been dismissed from the Tennessee football program. Had this been Salter's first offense, he may have been fine, but Salter had just recently returned from a previous two-month suspension. Salter still has all four years of his eligibility, as well as an available redshirt, so he has time to sort things out at a new school.

Salter sounds like a knucklehead. Glad Vols gave him the boot. Too bad they still have Joe Milton and a couple other black quarterback on the roster. Here's to hoping Harrison Bailey wins out.

Bailey played very well during the spring game and Maurer was a close second. It will be interesting to see if one of the mediocre quota transfers gets the black privilege card and jumps either of them on the depth chart. Bailey should be the starter for the next few seasons.

My thoughts exactly. If Vols actually want to take that next step, Bailey is the way!
