This deal got boomeranged off course when the Betts to Dodgers deal revealed some sticky matters with a pitcher going to the Twins. They rearranged things to allow Betts to sign up for his one year with the Dodgers.

Alex Cora, the Astros bench coach in 2017 and Red Sox manager for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, also played a role. Nationals manager Dave Martinez reached out to Cora ahead of the World Series, and the two spoke about what to expect, according to the Post report.
Cora was subsequently fired by the Red Sox this offseason due to the role he played during his time in Houston in 2017.
After gathering all the information from many sources, Washington came up with its own complex sign system. Pitchers had five different sign rotations, according to the Post report, and the Nationals catchers each wore a wristband on their arm to remember, similar to a quarterback wearing a wristband with the plays on it.
The system worked, as Washington won all four games in Houston, winning the World Series for the first time in history.

This is plain stupid. I agree with you and Shadowlight completely. Just another way to ruin the game even more. It's just like the NFL playing international games, moving combine drills to prime time etc.

I am a little annoyed with the Betts deal. I do think it would of been nice to see Pederson on the Angels but now he is the 4th outfielder. I honestly do not think Betts is the missing piece for the Dodgers to get over the hump - the Dodgers just need to stay healthy - a healthy Justin Turner and Corey Seager will really compliment Bellinger in that lineup. I am interested to see the 2B Lux this year too.

I'm not that into the World Cup (soccer) and I believe the format will change to 48 teams soon?Anyhow, for several decades the 32 World Cup participants essentially have played a 3 game mini-season to determine which 16 go to the knockout round?

Okay, so in the World Cup basically 16 of 32 teams make the equivalent of playoffs after just 3 games? Yet in baseball, 14 of 30 MLB teams would make the playoffs after a 162 game regular season?

Can the regular season become even more irrelevant? MLB teams play almost every day for 6 straight months and nearly half the teams (47%) qualify for the playoffs? Are you kidding me?

I agree, Manfred is destroying the sport to the point it's barely recognizable to anyone who's been watching since 2009? That's how quickly he's gutted the league since arriving as commissioner in 2015. First big change occurred after the 2015 All-Star break, when he immediately juiced the balls to the point even 5'6", 160 pound Latin middle infielders can hit 30 dingers per season and have little trouble hitting 430 foot opposite field HR's....As one recently retired player said in 2019, in an era gone by only Dave Kingman and Reggie Jackson types could hit opposite field HR's that hard. Now just about everyone can. And baseball has paid a steep price for this, as even casual fans realize these numbers are bogus and largely ignore gaudy HR totals. When Albert Pujols hit his 600th no one even cared! Even the rookie HR record, which was broken twice in recent years, seems to be meaningless outside of New York?

As far as Mookie Betts, I was hoping he'd be heading to San Diego, not L.A. But let's be honest here, the Dodgers have been taking some heat for being "too white" in recent years. I really think this move to add Betts and David Price was inevitable. If they didn't trade for Betts, they would've dealt Seagar and/or Lux to Cleveland for the steroid ingesting shortstop (Lindor), who'd be lucky if he hit 7 HR's per season prior to the steroid era. If someone had to lose their starting job, I'm glad it's Joc Pedersen. To me, the Dodgers are still the team to root for. Kind of reminds me of the 2004 Astros, who were always busted for being "too white", so they went out and brought in Carlos Beltran.

MLB has disintegrated. Rob Manfred and his goons need to be escorted out of their offices with police supervision. It is mind boggling to think of all that things that have gone wrong. Manfred has done the impossible. He has made the NBA and NFL look positively like shining lights when compared to the car wreck that is MLB now.

Manfred should also possibly be arrested as well. This SOB knew the heavily black/Latino Astros were cheating but ignored it until a white player blew the whistle and he was forced to react. And on the heels of this bogus Astros press conference with owner Jim Crane sleazing his way through lies baseball for most fans is a BS exercise in full blown deceit.

Manfred is not only a clown but he is a coward of the greatest order. He is actively trying to whittle down white participation in the sport and done everything in his power to bring in non white players. I won't conjecture on why he wants this but he is so damn stupid he doesn't realize or care he is alienating the overwhelming white fan base that are the foundation of baseball fans.

By the way I have made up my mind on the proposal for the reduction of minor league teams. After boning up on the issue I realized that most of the places affected would be rural areas that are predominantly white. By stripping down the minors by reducing 42 teams he is not only hurting white economic areas he is giving young white fans less exposure to the game. This fits into his grand scheme to do everything in his power to reduce the number of white players as he deliberately
overlooks the cheating drug schemes of foreign non white players. The guy is a white hating horror show.

Not for nothing the great cheat Alex Rodriguez, see above post, ( one of the most obnoxious athletes of all time) is all of a sudden mentioned in the Mets buyout but since Manfred is buddies with the hated Mets owners Wilpons he has allowed these deathly pricks to dangle their team with the provision the that they the Wilpons have a say on the team for five years as the sale slow mules it way to a finish. There are also calls to remove Manfred. He has compounded the mess by coming up with ludicrous rule changes including having relief pitchers have to pitch to a minimum of three batters. The same clown who complained about the length of games wanting to install egg timers on pitchers and batters yet he is more than willing to allow more electronic video reviews of plays that are worse offenders when it comes to slowing down the pace of play.

It is refreshing to see the players come out and criticize the Astros. I also saw that Correa came out yesterday to defend fellow latino Altuve - just showing they will stick together. Regarding the celebration and the team not ripping off his jersey - Correa made up the lame excuse that Altuve did not want to have a bad tattoo on his should be displayed on TV - below is an excerpt from the interview - it's behind a paywall so I could not post the whole article. He also said their World Series title was won fairly. Dusty Baker has also come out to say that the MLB needs to take preemptive measures to make sure the Astros players are not thrown at when the season comes around. Manfred will probably come down harder on any player who is enforcing the unwritten rules of baseball than he did on the Astros players who cheated there way to a world series. It also seems the Alex Bregman is becoming the target of everyones anger against the Astros predictably. I feel Altuve benefited more than anyone. I think Manfred is a terrible commissioner for all of the reasons Shadowlight has brought up - this is just icing on the cake. As someone who grew up as a baseball fan and with an appreciation for the history of the game I feel what the Astros did makes Pete Rose's gambling look like small potatoes yet Rose's lifetime ban is upheld and the Astros organization and players get to continue playing with nothing but a slap on the wrist.

He’s like, “Don’t take my shirt off.” The second reason — he doesn’t want me to talk about this, but I’m going to say it, is because he’s got an unfinished tattoo on his collarbone that honestly looked terrible. It was a bad tattoo, and he didn’t want nobody to see it. He didn’t want to show it at all.

So, one, he didn’t want to take his shirt off because his wife had told my wife earlier in the year for me to not do that. So he was telling me not to do it. Dodgers' Justin Turner irate with 'out of touch' commissioner Rob Manfred

An offseason of anger for the Los Angeles Dodgers again boiled over Monday as third baseman Justin Turner took aim at Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred.
Turner took umbrage with the commissioner's characterization of the World Series trophy a day after Manfred called it a "piece of metal" when talking with ESPN's Karl Ravech about the possibility of stripping the Houston Astros of their 2017 title.

"I don't know if the commissioner has ever won anything in his life," Turner told reporters Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times. "Maybe he hasn't. But the reason every guy's in this room, the reason every guy is working out all offseason, and showing up to camp early and putting in all the time and effort is specifically for that trophy, which, by the way, is called the commissioner's trophy.
"So for him to devalue it the way he did yesterday just tells me how out of touch he is with the players in this game. At this point the only thing devaluing that trophy is that it says 'commissioner' on it."

"Now anyone who goes forward and cheats to win a World Series, they can live with themselves knowing that, 'Oh, it's OK. ... We'll cheat in the World Series and bring the title back to L.A. Screw [manager] Dave Roberts and screw [general manager] Andrew [Friedman]. It's just those guys losing their jobs. I still get to be called a champion the rest of my life.' So the precedent was set by him yesterday in this case."
Turner added that he doesn't think Manfred did enough to uncover everything the Astros may have been doing in their sign-stealing scheme. The league's investigation revealed a system in which the Astros were able to decipher a catcher's signs in real time and relay them to the batter via bangs on a trash can.
"I think it all comes down to everyone keeps saying, 'The facts, the facts. You don't know the facts. These are the facts,' " Turner said. "I don't think anyone knows the facts. I think everyone just wants to hear all the facts. And I think that the commissioner didn't do a good job of revealing all the facts to us. I still think there's some stuff we don't know."
Turner is the latest member of the Dodgers, losers of the 2017 World Series to the Astros, to sound off about Houston.
Closer Kenley Jansen called the Astros' cheating "worse than steroids." Right-hander Ross Stripling said he would "lean toward yes" when asked whether he'd bean a Houston player if he were given the chance in a game. And reigning NL MVP Cody Bellinger went scorched earth, going as far as to say the Astros stole the 2017 World Series from the Dodgers and that Houston second baseman Jose Altuve stole the AL MVP award that year from Aaron Judge of the Yankees.

3 batter minimum rule coming to MLB. Not sure i disagree with it to be honest. I suffered many years watching the "genius" Tony LaRussa bring pitchers in all game long to face just one batter, it's cowardly and annoying when watching the game. A reliever should be able to pitch longer than one batter like in the old days of sutter, tekulve, fingers etc.

Pitchers will be required to either face a minimum of three batters or pitch to the end of a half-inning, with exceptions to be made in case of injury or illness. Currently, Rule 5.10(f) states that the starting pitcher must pitch to one batter until that batter is put out or reaches base, and Rule 5.10(g) states that any reliever must pitch to one batter until that batter is put out or reaches base, or the offensive team is put out

I agree with Shadowlight that the reduction in minor league teams is just MLB's attempt to load up on foreign roided up latinos and deprive white communities of the national past time. Small cities that have probably spent millions in taxpayer money in order to keep their teams are going to get screwed over. Something i've rarely heard discussed is why a national sports league like MLB should consist largely of foreign players? It's insane for any nation to allow it's "heroes" to be comprised of a large contingent of foreigners. Of course, that's a topic that isn't even allowed to be discussed and would be dismissed out of hand since our national religion is "diversity."

The "Cardinal way" is to ruin young players' professional careers by making them languish in the minor leagues or on the bench until they're about 26 or 27 years old. ( see matt carpenter for example). Then, they have no chance to become major stars or rack up huge career stats like the latinos that get to play at 20 years of age or even younger.

This year, the Cardinals continue to give unwarranted at bats to Dexter Fowler, who was signed to a huge long term contract because the cardinals were coming under intense criticism for not having any blacks on the team. And we were assured that darkies like ozuna and edgar renteria didn't "count" as black since they were latinos. So this year, the cardinals are sticking with Fowler in RF, Harrison Bader (white) in CF gets another shot, and LF appears to be a free for all. Tyler Oneal, who has shown incredible power, enters his age 25 season still not really getting a chance except for part time work. Will he get a chance to play this year? Doubtful. he does strike out too much, but he could easily hit 30+ HRs. The major deficiency in his abilities is that he lacks that sweet sweet diversity.

Well said. Baseball was far and away my favorite sport when I was young, but it became hollowed out to me a long time ago. Same with all sports to varying degrees; the more the Caste System can be foisted upon a sport, the more corrupt it becomes but everything in society has been methodically tainted and ruined from the top-down, a major part of the process of which enables and encourages the bottom-up assault, with good old Whitey always caught and squeezed out in the middle, oblivious to how and why it's happening -- and when properly trained often eagerly cheering on his own demise.

Just like everything in this once great country, non-Whites and jews are ruining baseball. Cheating is through the roof because 3rd world people do not adhere to the same principles of honor and fair-play that Whites have. It’s literally alien to their culture. Couple that with the economic pressures to use baseball to lift oneself out of extreme poverty and the case to cheat is a no-brainer.

This absolutely, also, holds true for the serious steroid abuse that is still rampant in baseball, despite the bull$hit put forth by the mainstream, Jewish media that baseball is almost completely steroid free. Only a fool would believe diminutive Golems like Jose Altuve, Ozzie Albies and Jose Ramirez could hit the amount HR's at their sizes. Currently at 5' 7", 160 pound, Ozzie Albies, for example, got a 35 power rating (lowest possible) from scouts when he signed as a 16 year old from Curacao. Expectation was he'd be a career slap hitter/base stealer, in the mold of Rafael Furcal? Yet by the age of 22 he had hit a total of 54 HR's (basically two seasons)and has no problem hitting 400 (plus) HR's to the opposite field. How does that happen?

I just saw "Boston Legend" David Ortiz has joined Pedro Martinez in claiming ex-Astros pitcher Mike Fiers is a "snitch" (not a "whistle-blower") for ratting out his ex-team (Houston Astros) in the cheating scam. As you noted, in their culture, cheating, stealing and over criminality must be okay? I guess anything to make millions of Shekels from the stupid Goyim that root for them, knowing full well they are cheaters?

By the way, even recently demoted ESPN analyst Jessica Mendoza, a tall, lighter skinned American-born Latin woman, who is very articulate and comes off as being intelligent, agreed that Fiers is a "snitch". That took me by surprise, you'd figure she'd have a different attitude, but in the end she seems no better than your average MS-13 hood-rat, gang banger in her native Mexifornia? Her opinion probably cost her a cushy consulting job with the Mets, as she effectively condoned cheating in baseball.

I'm sure Shadowlight will hate this idea, as much as Trevor Bauer does. In this recent rant against Rob Manfred, Bauer brought up something I had forgotten about: In order to cut down on strikeouts, Manfred has proposed moving the pitching mound back to 62 feet. It's been 60 feet, 6 inches for well over 100 years, I suppose? Only a total money hungry jackal, disguised as Commissioner who loves his sport, would ever put forth something so silly and radical. As Tim Kurkjian of ESPN said, once they stop "juicing the ball", the majority of hitters in the league (I say 90% of the Latin players?) will adjust their swings and stop trying to launch the ball into the air once they realize their best, hardest swing will only reach the "warning track". Therefore, instead of trying to hit opposite field HR's every at bat, they'll choke up a bit, simply trying to make contact. Being tougher against steroid use will also help keep strikeouts down for similar reasons. This will also speed up the game, as every 5'6" to 5'10", 160 to 175 pound Latin player won't intentionally foul off a million pitches, fully expecting to get the "right pitch", which they can drive 430 feet out of the park.
