Saw the men’s 200m. Lyles obviously in a class by himself and the favorite to win the gold in Doha. Guliyev with a solid 2nd place and appears to be peaking at the right time. He’s definitely a contender for a silver or bronze.

Christophe is unfortunately a shell of his former self. Might as well retire at this point, not sure what he’s training for. He’s unlikely to achieve any sort of success at the Grand Prix or major competition level ever again.

But you can never away the fact that he was the first white man to break the 10s barrier, he’ll alwsys have that.

Very good race for Guliyev after a long season. I agree with CrazyFinn that he is a medalist favorite at the world champs.

Lemaitre while not the guy were used to at least put in an ok time compared to some of his other 200 races this season. He hasn't raced enough and is not in good shape.

Taftian looked great winning the 100. Very happy to see him win on such a big stage.

On a side note Henrik Laarson ran a 10.24 0.3 for a win in Sweden today. This 19 year old has had a very good season. Excited to see what he does in the near future. I think
Sweden may have an elite level sprinter in the next 2 to 3 years. I see alot of upside in this kid and he is mentally tough with the will to win. He also has a swagger about him!

Schippers 3rd in the 100m to juicer Thompson and Ta lou. Thompson sporting braces (mid to late 20's) sure sign of juice use.

I haven't managed to find the full results of this race even on IAAF Paris diamond league results page. But 10.03 is great into a -0.3 wind. Last year's 10.03 for him was with a +1.2.
Taftian was injured in 2017 but his season bests around that year have been 10.04 (2016), 10.03 (2018 and 2019). Sub 10 is only a matter of time surely, if he runs enough races.
At 26 years old he's reaching his prime

I'd love to see Guliyev take Mennea's 200 record before he's done. Together with his titles, a sub 10 and a sub 19.7 will make him the undisputed best ever European 100/200 sprinter IMO

I agree. Ramil Guliyev is also in love with a stunning blonde with blue eyes. They will make beautiful babies together someday. Nice looking couple. He is such an incredible sprinter. His consistancy
is incredible and even sill after all of these years. Look how far Lemaitre has regressed yet Guliyev is kicking ass out there most of the races outside of Lyle and a few others.

I have to admit mastermulti that I feel Rohan Browning is on the verge of doing what Shirvo and many others couldn't. Whether it's this year or next he will break 10 seconds. This kids is mature far beyond his years. In addition to his intelligence, he is driven to be the best. If I could be my hard earned money on Browning to go sub 10 in his career I could jump at the chance. The kid is special both on and off the track. I'm excited to watch him run at the world champs.

I think Rohan is under wraps again. I have heard nothing for some time.
Do you know who was in that 100 race (and the full results) that Taftian won?

At the British Championships we had a good perfomance again from Adam Gemeli. There were huge negative winds for the majoity of the sprint races.

Gemeli took 2nd in the 100 in a time of 10.18 but followed that up winninne the 200 meters in 20.08 -1.2 This time especially over 200 meters shows he is
in great shape after running that many rounds late in the summer. He has an outside chance of challenging for a medal over 200 meters in Doha. He at the
very least should be a lock to make the finals.

Richard Kilty had a hamstring pull and couldn't compete.

Alot of the young british sprinters on the mens side just didn't do well. Hope the experience will make them stronger going into next year.

Anyone have any ideas on how to classify the ethnicity of Hassan Taftian? This guy is on the verge of breaking 10.00. He is not black, but he's not white either. Is he a pure Arab? A mix? Sunni, Shia, what the hell is this guy?

I consider Taftian white in general just like Gemeli. The census in the U.S. also classifies them as white. They are generally white but like other types of whites usually have darker skin/& features.

Carina Horn with an 11.02 win in Madrid.
Ivet Lalova 2nd in 11.08.
Minimal wind.
Both faster than Schippers was this weekend.

both Lalova and horn beat Torrie Bowie. Lalova getting closer and closer to sub 11 again. As well super talented 19 y/old Paulina Miller of Russia wins the 400m in 51 flat(pb) not sure of wind reading

Some Iranians have varying degrees of East Asian blood from the Mongolian invasion but most are fully Caucasian. Where Guliyev is from was once part of the Persian empire and the area was seceded to the Russian Empire in the mid 19th century. So you could argue are they are literally Caucasians. Also Iranians aren't one ethnicity the country literally has dozens of ethnic groups and many have a more European look than this sprinter. Andre Agassi's father was Armenian and I'm assuming was paler than this man.

PS, this guy also might have a farmer's tan and may be paler than this in the off season as I have seen him in the world indoors and he looked "Whiter".

I saw a documentary on Queen Noor(Arab American wife of the former King of Jordan) and she had an ancestor who had money and challenged his Asiatic racial classification. Back when the US was a country that was implicitly for Whites/Europeans being labeled non White limited economic and political freedoms. Keep it in mind this was in the early 20th century, if you have seen photos of Noor she is blonde and pale but as far as I know she is fully Palestinian.

Jerome Blake(Canada) is originally from Jamaica and is Johan Blake's cousin. Most of Canada's top male sprinters are not born in Canada.

Speaking of Yohan Blake, on Hassan Taftian's instagram, I saw a video of him training with Blake.
That's the kind of thing top sprinters need to do - push their limits and train with the best. It works.
Yes, I'm speaking to Christophe Lemaitre.

Gemili's 20.08 into a -1.2 wind translates as follows:
19.96 at +0.0 wind
19.82 at +2.0 wind (*estimates with wind calculator*)

This comes a day after the 100m race.
So, for the moment, Gemili is looking a bit better than Guliyev in the 200m.

Here's his impressive win.

When natural athletes get around 10.00/20.00 their bodies start to break down. They cannot run as many meets per year as the roid heads.

Yes ...taftian is considered Caucasian ...ie white ...as is Gemili ....Arabs are an ethnic group it's an umbrella ( more to do with culture and religion ) name for many with roots in the Middle East . Academic Human genetics that are classified in relation to " race " are different to those classified by governments in relation to " race " .......ie governments have to make things easy when classifying ....obviously as time has moved on through the centuries and with science " race" or the term race is pretty much obsolete .....ethnic being that peoples of different " pigmentation S" can be within one specific population ....Russia is the mother of ethnic diversity .....where as the carribbean has none ....but it's genetic makeup owes quite a lot to European whites...

Tortu won today against a quality field in his return from injury. He ran a 10.21 into a -1.5 wind. So this time is probably good for around 10.10 approx i'm guessing with out the wind calculator. I'm very
happy with this reslult. To be honest I thought he would be alot slower today comming off an injury. This is a great race for him. Happy he won going away if you look at the photo finish. Here is a link to the official results.

according to BrianMac tables an altitude 200m/wind -1.5 equates to a basic 10.12 for Tortu.
Let's hope he is totally healed and peaking for a month away
