We had 3 germans make the 100 meters finals for the euro under 20 champs. I think we have 6 out of 8 of our guys in the final. Hope
we see some medalist. Good to see Germany like England putting out alot of young up & coming sprinters to watch in the coming years!

On a sad note Samuel Purola didn't make the final. He ran a very slow 10.53 and just missed out by 1/100th of a second. In his current form he
had very little chance of medaling anyway. Hope he gets back to form next year. Sometimes youngsters regress. Just keep working hard young man.

Note .. U 18 world record holder over 200 .. Amy ...has a current 2 page spread on athletics weekly uk ..( note I am not British so I'am not pushing British athletes but just giving information ) .......also purola has changed coaches ...so it may take until next year ...and Finland athletics have restructured athlete funding which directly effects who is being paid and for what ..as fins want full transparency re funding ..ie no sponsoring ...unless fully professional athletes ..which purola is not ....

the semis of the men’s 110 hurdles just wrapped up, and only three men in European U20 Championships history have ever run semifinals times faster than Joshua Zeller's 13.41 today. two of them -- Shubenkov & Martinot-Legarde -- are now top-15 fastest in world history. (if i’m not mistaken, that is also the all-time Brit #2 time.)

obviously anything can happen in a hurdles race, but this youngster is special and may do something breathtaking in the final.

Jules Pommery wins the long jump with a 25.7. Not bad for an 18 year old.

Elias Goer of Germany (nice name for a sprinter) posts the top time (21.07) in the 200 qualifying rounds, again, a nice time for an 18 year old.

Boling wins his heat this morning into a negative wind. There was a Brazilian in an earlier heat with a faster time (10.21), but he had a pos wind of 3.5.

Lorenzo Paissan of Italy takes the gold in the Men's U20 Euro Championships. 10.44.
Antonio Plichta of Poland 2nd in 10.52.
I noticed that the meet record and Euro U20 record is 10.04 by Christophe Lemaitre.

Goer shut it down and started looking around with about 50 meters to go, as you can see in the video below. he’s got a LOT left in the tank.

there was another pair of youngsters that intrigued me in the qualifying rounds. Aaron Sexton, from Ireland, absolutely CRUISED in his heat and still won by nearly 10 meters. it’ll be interesting to see how he does moving forward. Joe Ferguson, from Great Britain, easily beat Goer back in Mannheim, running 20.76, but he appeared to be a bit gimpy as he finished winning his heat. if he’s injury free, he’s surely the favorite, but if he’s bothered by something then all bets are off.

Eat pasta, run fasta!! Lorenzo is just a little guy, whereas Vittoria is a tall girl. One of the Brits pulled his hammy mid race in the men's 100 final.

the “Brit” you mentioned was Azu, the favorite going in. the race for first was likely between he and Paissan, and when he tweaked his hamstring, it was over. the real surprise, based on personal-bests, was the Silver by the Pole, Plichta. what an outstanding finish for him!

Wow, crazy the way Goer did it with such ease. He even looked back at one point. Expecting a big time out of him.

i mentioned Sexton cruising for an easy win, but until just now i couldn’t find a video to show just how effortless he made it look. see below for the total dominance he displayed. additionally, i didn’t realize he had the top u20 time coming into these championships.

I never thought in my life time that I would see an white american sprinter over 100 & 200 meters with the racial slotting being even worse in track
than on the football fields or even on the basketball courts. Boling wasn't supposed to be the one. He was another 400 meter guy who ran relays and
also did the long jump. Well with a rare opportunity to run the short sprints he shocked his coach, teammates and eventually the world!

I'm so happy right now. His consistancy is amazing for a guy in his first full year of running the short (100 & 200 meters) sprints. He is a phenom and if
Georgia doesn't keep him in the 100 & 200 he should decommit. I hope they are smart enough to see that he is becoming a household name already. The
kid was born to be a sprinter! Congrats Matthew Boling! :)

We now have 3 white American sprinters to watch - Matthew Boling, Devin Quinn, and Austin Kratz.

-Boling is a phenom. No doubt about it. This is his first year competing at the 100m and 200m, and he is head and shoulders above all competition. Simply amazing.
-Quinn recently made the NCAA 100m finals, and ran a blazing 10.01 in the semis. He had quietly been making improvements year after year. Now his collegiate career is over, and he is already running as a pro. Hopefully he can break the 10 flat barrier.
-Kratz was, up until Boling's emergence, the fastest white American high school sprinter ever. That was in 2018. However, he was injured this year and didn't run at Arizona State. If he's healthy, he may end up like Quinn, progressing year by year and getting close to the 10 flat barrier.

Interestingly, all 3 of these guys are blonde. Quite unlikely.

Negative wind -1.7 for Amy Hunt. Shows just how strong this girl is.

Goer 2nd in men's 200 in 21.16 with a -1.2 wind. First place to a brother from the Netherlands in 21.08. Sexton 4th in 21.18.
