Not nearly enough 2019 Running Backs starting at the FBS Level...but the few that do are more than capable of putting up 200 yard games!

Max Borghi (Soph.) 5'-10" 195 Washington State ... All purpose back tied for fifth in Pac-12 with 12 total TD's as Freshman , reported 4.38 speed Christian McCaffrey - lite??...from Colorado

Cade Carney (Sr.) 5'-11" 215 Wake Forest...Jr. season Rushed for 1,005 yards & 8 TD's( despite splitting carries) ; including 223 yards on 31 carries & 2 TD's vs. Duke! Enters Sr. season w 16 career TD's rushing.

Mike Epstein (Jr.) 6'-0 200 Illinois ... explosive ; but injury prone Fr. & Soph. seasons...411 yards Soph. on 60 carries (6.8 avg) 3 TD's back to back 100 yard games vs . So. Florida & W.Illinois ... 346 yds rushing & 3 TD's Fr. ..from Florida

Nate Cottrell (Sr.) 5'-11" 190 Georgia Tech ..now listed as Starting "Slot WR" w GaTech leaving Triple Option; Still envision Jet Sweeps as an all-purpose threat .last year 362 yds rushing on 46 carries 7.8 avg & 4 TD's (9 carries 90 yds vs UNC) ... Soph. season 271 yards rushing on just 33 carries; 8.2 avg (runs of 69 vs. Va.Tech; 38 vs. Tenn; 33 vs. Georgia; 24 vs. Miami) .... reported 4.35 in 40 out of HS

Zane Dudek (Jr.) 5'-9" 190 Yale...hoping to bounce back after Injury last season limited to 380 yards rushing & 3 TD's on 70 carries...strong Fr. year 1st Team FCS AA ...1,133 Yards rushing; 15 TD's ; 7.1 avg

Garrett Groshek (Jr.) 5'-11" 215 Wisconsin ...quality back-up talented enough to start for many FBS teams. 425 yds rushing last season (6.5 avg) & TD (9-73 vs. Nebraska) + 24 Rec for 163 yds & TD (long of 43) ...297 yds rushing as RS Fr....was he a Walk-on?

Cole Fagan (Sr.) 6'-1" 230 Air Force.... 997 yards rushing last year 7 TD's (260 yds vs. Colorado St!) ....Doing these Previews ...he's 3rd in line; Now dropping him down list...just now discovering he's NO LONGER w TEAM ? pending investigation ? Was Leading Rusher in 18 ' ; Dad played in NFL ( Kevin D-End 49ers)...Hopefully he can come back???

Sean McGrew (Jr.) 5'-7" 184 Washington ..Listed 2nd Team; hoping will get more opportunity ; 50 carries 226 yards & TD(30 yd run vs. Oregon St.) + 6 Receptions for 110 yards receiving...Former HS Gatorade Player of the Year in California 15'...

Ben Glines (Sr.) 6'-2" 215 Boston College...shined when given the opportunity! Rushed for 380 yards(120 vs Temple / 107 vs Louisville / 90 vs NC St. ); 5.6 avg; 3 TD's ; long of 41 + 12 rec for 170 yards & 4 TD's (Red Raider put him in WR Thread; still hoping he plays some RB)

Billy McCrary (Sr.) 5'-11" 200 Abilene Christian ...(Cal transfer)...rushed for 222 yds vs. SE La.; 141 yards vs. Baylor on just 6 carries (75 yd TD)! Last season 724 yds rushing & 8 TD's + 28 rec & 2 TD's ran a reported 4.38

Cole Gest (Jr.). 5'-8" 196 Indiana .....Last year (Soph.) suffered ACL season ending injury in 1st game; Fr. 428 yards; 4.6 avg (4th highest Fr. Big 10); 104 yds rushing & TD vs. Rutgers ... already received medical redshirt due to previous injury...needs to Work his way up the Depth Chart

Small school, he’s the kid that ran for 600 yards in a game but got squat for D1 offers.

Cam, his brother, hardly had a chance for the Irish.....Heaven forbid that they really had an Irishman on the team.....TJ said he doesn’t want to be buried on a depth chart like his brother......Kid knows what time it is.....Good luck at SMU

QB in high school, highly recruited, well known here at Caste Football.
I’m rooting for him to be the gem find of the year....
Work his way up the depth chart, get carries.....
They’ve talked about him changing positions 43 times, RB is where he should stay.

Air Force also has Nolan Eriksen who is the brother of former EMU RB Ian Eriksen. He’ll be a senior this year and he’s rushed for 329 yards and 2 TD’s over the past 2 seasons.

For some reason Eriksen didn’t play much last year....The emergence of Remsberg and Fagan was great.....I haven’t looked up Fagan to see what’s up with him.....
Air Force has some other fullbacks that should rise to the occasion....

Splendid job as usual gentleman. Usually I am not anywhere near being an optimist and given this recent NFL draft things seem the same as ever. White running backs being ignored and slighted at the NFL level as standard issue.

But it seems to me a few of the above running backs are due to break through in the NFL down the road. More talent than usual and given the raging sucess of CM I think and hope it is just a matter of time until more white running backs emerge in the pros. Either that or I am entirely delusional.

One of the big keys is that the black locker room culture has to change which would allow more diversity (ie white running backs) to thrive. Seems to me these toxic locker rooms have put a lid on allowing white running backs to become a focus of an offense.

One hopes that culture changes.

I was hoping Coleman Fox could break through last year after a decent sophomore season, is he still on the team? Cole Beck was a high recruit I hope he can get some carries as well in his freshman year.

Seems like there are issues, like Brandon.....
Let’s hope this young man gets on his feet and surfaces somewhere soon.....

Sam Brodner, hasn’t showed up on a roster......These two guys were a positive sign for the big ten a few years back......Injuries hampered Sam, not much info out there.

I read an article about how versatile he is, may switch to TE (running back days are gone)

Cole Mueller was a kid mentioned here before....Illinois St has him....

Yes indeed! Started to Matt Gadek (Record Breaking Texas HS ) thread! The fact he got no D1 Offers was perplexing!! Glad to see him up at Northern Colorado!

Hopefully the Trey Quinn effect can benefit TJ McDaniel at RB for SMU! Like his attitude! with what older brother Cam did at Notre Dame!

Disappointed last season that Coleman Fox was an after thought for Virginia Tech after showing promise the season before...I DO NOT SEE him on this years Roster?? .
Sprinter Coleton Beck(10.3 100 meters) was Redshirted...hopefully we will see his name pop up in some Box Scores for 19'

Coming out of HS was hopeful Josh Foley could make an impact at New Mexico St.

Intrigued by Keegan Duncan at 6'-3" 220lbs ...Not sure if he Redshirts; but would like to see him become the Leighton Vander Esch of the Boise St. Offense in the future!

Georgia Walk-on RB Hudson Prather led the Spring Game in Rushing ....but doubtful he will get any meaningful carries...he could start for some smaller schools!

Josh Davis (SO) 5’9” 195lbs Weber State
Winner of 2018 Jerry Rice Award (best freshman in FCS) following an outstanding redshirt freshman year. All he did was rush 250 times for 1362 yards and 9 TD’s, added 30 receptions for another 193 yards and returned 14 punts for 224 yards and a TD. Big time FCS player, he was the Utah Gatorade Player or the Year in 2016 and he set the state record for all-purpose yards in a season.

With Protheroe, Yinger and McPherson not getting any NFL love, it’s hard to believe any FCS back will ever get a shot.....I’d rather have watched Eastern Washington last year than a GD SEC game...
