2019 Masters

One of the great markers of the arrival of Spring each year is this peerless event. It starts Thursday and I'm trying my best to clear my schedule to watch on Saturday and Sunday.

I'm leaning toward rooting for Rory McIlroy, mainly so the media will quit hounding him about when he's going to become only the sixth man to complete the career grand slam with a win at Augusta National. There's a decent chance he may never achieve the accomplishment given how rare it is but I'd like to see him get it, which would propel him into the ranks of the all-time greats. Jordan Spieth (PGA) and Phil Mickelson (U.S. Open) will also get their shots at completing the career grand slam in upcoming months, though at nearly 49 years old, any win of a major at this point by Phil would be akin in unlikelihood to Jack Nicklaus's win for the ages at Augusta in 1986.

Justin Rose has come close two of the past three years and has the game to finally get over the hump. But I'll be happy no matter who wins as long as it's one of the top golfers and not someone well down in the rankings pulling off an upset. Patrick Reed was the least popular golfer to win the event in a long time, due mainly to his personality, but he was clutch as hell last year and deserved his green jacket.

What a great leaderboard after round one of the Masters! Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka both fired 66 today and are tied for the lead at -6, Phil Mickelson turns in a 67 to finish at -5, Dustin Johnson and Ian Poulter turn in 68s, and Adam Scott and Jon Rahm are in with 69s. There were a TON of great shots on the Back 9, especially from Bryson, Koepka, and Phil.

The media was tentatively hoping Tiger's -2 would hold up throughout the afternoon. It didn't, as the conditions were pretty good this afternoon, and a LOT of golfers took advantage of the conditions, pushing Woods to outside of the Top 10. He did look good, however. With a couple of makes on short putts, Woods could easily have been out front.

In terms of others, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose are at +3, and Rory and Justin Thomas are at +1. Spieth has just looked plain lost for the majority of this year; I hope he's able to put it together at some point.

Watching Phil at 12 and 16, I'm not sure he can't do it at his age. He looks fitter than Jack did at 46. Lots of golf to go. The Tiger worshipping on koshervative websites is reaching nauseating levels already.

I just finished watching ESPN's condensed three hour coverage and that's the best leaderboard I've ever seen after the first round of a major. Filled with big names, and Phil the Thrill is right in the middle of it! Unless someone like Koepke or Johnson pulls away from the field, it's already setting up to be another drama-packed Sunday.

They'll also be playing in threesomes rather than pairs because of the threat of severe weather in the afternoon. CBS's coverage begins at 9 am, it'll almost be like watching the British Open or Wimbledon with the very early start.

I give CBS a lot of credit for not turning its coverage into a non-stop Tigercentric spectacle today, as all other networks would have. The worst thing about the TV coverage was all the "girl power" feminazi ads the corporate sponsors were shoving down viewers' throats along with the obligatory multi-culti crap.

I normally would watch "Live From the Masters" on the Golf Channel but won't as Commissar Rich Lerner must be well beyond giddy with joy at Tiger's showing to this point. Lerner makes sure Golf Channel's coverage is 90% about Woods even when he's not in contention. He and his comrades must also be thrilled that Tony Finau (of Tongan and Somoan descent) will be in the final group with Woods and Molinari.

With the wind supposed to kick up tomorrow, there are still a number of players in it, including Brooks Koepke. But Molinari has to be considered the favorite as he's been a machine on the course over the past year. He has just one bogey in three rounds, which is phenomenal. But the Tiger-mania will be in full throttle among the gallery so it should be quite the interesting final round.

Koepka really messed up by missing the birdie putt on 18. That would have applied the necessary pressure on King Prick. Oh well. Tune out the fake news media for the next week.

Not a good afternoon at all. The Penguins lose their third straight to the Islanders and it looks like the end of the Crosby/Malkin era of Stanley Cup contenders, and Woods wins The Masters. Tiger earned it by making some great shots and avoiding big mistakes. A lot of guys put pressure on him as it was an amazing leaderboard all tournament but the media that have been trying to turn back the clock for the past 11 years finally got their wish and now it's out of control Tigermania for the indefinite future.

Rare chance to post on a Sunday afternoon. I watched the last two rounds of the Masters and parts of the first two. Any one remember that 50s/60s catchy hit "Here Comes Summer?" Well there is a new one now called "There Goes Summer." Would have been much better if Tiger bagged the last major of the year because it would get swallowed up a bit by football starting. But now we have the whole damn summer and golf season to listen to this shite which will be wall to wall non stop shouted from the highest rooftops. Mike Greenberg has been having sex with his twitter account drooling like a rabid animal over every Tiger move the past few days. I looked it up to confirm what I knew, Greenberg is the most poisonous sports media figure bar none. His hatred of white athletes is so blatant I just wish he would go away.

Tiger was under the normal pressures of a major which are high but keep in mind those charging from behind ahead of him on Sunday were always just far enough away or barely close enough to keep him from sweating too much. When you have the two big eagle par fives waiting for him one can understand how he could relax. The pressure should have been from his playing mates but they choked up a mountain. Finau was scattershot stem to stern. Not a shock. But steady eddy Molinari was off the entire day. Had to scramble just to get a par on the first and from there he looked shaky despite keeping a two hole lead for most of the first nine. But he was missing fairways and greens and dumping balls in the water. Scrambling from a player who is not suited for that. This from a player who looked on cue and unflappable the previous three days.

He kept looking up at the wind conditions. Perhaps that played some "minor" role. But Molinari choked up a mutt lets face it.

Tiger was the steadiest of the lot and avoided big errors on Sunday. God help us.

Tip of the cap to Tiger Woods. Molinari was one of the hottest golfers on tour, but could not withstand the pressure. DJ and Koepka, two of golf’s best heavyweights in their prime, each had opportunities at 17 and 18 to make a birdie and force a playoff, but failed. Tiger was the best player in the tournament, period. I’m disappointed in all the White players in the field who seemed content to finish in the top ten and collect their checks.

I actually could like the "new" Baldrick as he seems to be humble and has self depreciating humor, but because of this sick Tiger mania, he's on my ignore list....

When Spieth wins a couple more majors, that will be the REAL story in golf. And he carries himself with pure class, a natural. Dustin Johnson and Rory can win some nice tournaments this year also. I'm not a fan of Jason Day, but I expect him to play quite well and regularly contend per usual. There may be pressure on Rickie Fowler to get over-the-hump more, something to watch.

Canadian football, at least. The British Open is now the final major on the calendar. The PGA Championship has been moved to Preakness weekend in May.

It will be interesting how the media's Tigermania effects the other players. Koepka and Johnson were cucking hard in their interviews yesterday, while Fowler and Finau were in awe of their non-White hero. Hopefully someone, preferably Koepka, can overcome their programming and prevent Woods from being the top player in the sport again.

If Woods hadn't grossed an alleged 1 Billion US in endorsements and purses I could have sympathy for him because of Rob Parker and Shannon Sharpe, Parker was the militant who called Bob Griffin a "Cornball Brother", in this segment he all but says Woods was dead to him because Woods has stated numerous times in public he was multi-racial not Black. Of course Gimp chimed along in complete agreement......

I despise Woods more than almost any other athlete and even I'll admit that it must've taken some serious will power and inner strength for Tiger to overcome his many personal demons and physical degradation to win another Major. It was very tough to watch, but I will say that much of the "Tiger Mania" that I noticed via Fake News programming did mention (and showed footage of) his tabloid-littering infidelities, his doleful public apology video following his many affairs, his multi-million dollar divorce, his DUI arrest, his embarrassing mugshot, and his endless injuries since winning his last major 11 years ago.

Hopefully, his 2019 Masters victory will be an auspicious situation that will never occur again in his career.

PS - the older Tiger gets, the more his 1/2 Asian side expresses itself. I'd estimate that approximately 5% of DWF's realize that Woods is less than 50% black...

It was helpful that CBS showed his Thai mother at the end to help raise knowledge that Tiger is in fact multi racial and less than half black. Intresting how Schaufele, Day and Woods are all half Asian. Maybe time for some new drooling article about the Asian rise to supremacy in golf.
