If there was a Franchise NFL QB in the LSU/Utah State game ; it was Joe Burrow...344 yards passing & 5 TD's + 42 yards & TD rushing. Message Board has been arguing on Jordan Love...some don't see the hype ; others do. Utah St LB David Woodward had 16 tackles; posted he could easily start on LSU's Defense & got no arguments. They Agree he will be the Top Flight NFL Player on that team!
In his 2nd career start Freshman QB John Rhys Plumlee (Ole Miss) impressive rushing numbers; 165 yards on 22 carries; put a "band-aid" on the lack of RB numbers this week (didn't help Borghi & Carney had Bye Week); Plumlee looks like a Running Back too. He did have 99 yards passing.

Thanks TwentyTwo. Thanks for noticing the Landen Akers sighting too.
Based on just two pages of posts this week it is a clear indication of how bad things are getting in college football. The drift is apparent. We could be looking at an NFL down the road with
zero starting white wide receivers and perhaps few back ups as well. Same barren DB situation and a hell of a lot more non white QBs. A few but not a lot of white front seven players too. In other words a recipe of attrition where every one here at CF gets so dried out the site closes down due to disinterest.
Yes things are grim and one must have some hope to carry on. That is what college football is supposed to be about but when former walk on WRs Chris Finke and former kicker Will Hastings have evaporated into the no go zone it is hard to keep the chin up.
I will give up if I am forced to discuss all black match ups week in and week out.
But I will try to find at least a few cracks of hope most of which TwentyTwo and others have covered up above.
I was able to watch the Yale O in action on a local TV feed and JP Shofti put on a show. Ran away from a defender on his TD and piled up even more yardage on run backs. His WR mate Kubnik, see above, also put on a show. They spread Dudek out at WR early on but Yale is loaded with white skill players to cheer on.
The Air Force game was a disappointment. RB Remsberg was stuffed with a 9-9 stat line but did manage a 29 yard catch. But WR Waters put on a show see above. One Navy player popped off the screen. Sophomore S Evan Pochtman had an interception and was all over the field. Has speed and hits like a truck. One to keep an eye on. Was a former dual threat QB. Another sophomore safety who has been terrific is Iowa's Jack Koerner. He played an A plus game against Michigan in a hard fought defensive battle.
Speaking of which as mentioned above John Rhys Plumlee of Ole Miss is a legend in the making. Has real speed ( he ran a 6.4 60 in baseball camps) so get him in the open field and it is good night. Another white player off of the Taysom Hill family tree.
Also mentioned above was Miami's Tate Martell. His decision to transfer is so far a disaster. The new coaching staff at Georgia Tech has totally neglected speedster Noah Cottrell. And TT WR Mannix as mentioned above by Red raider has fallen into an abyss. Good grief. Three talented players going nowhere for different reasons. Any day now I figure Cottrell's body will be found in a trunk somewhere.
The Ohio State QB Fields is helped by the fact that their head coach Ryan Day has a brilliant mind. He put in clever plays to help overcome a tough Michigan State defense. Day will one day be a star NFL coach. Hyper smart.
And as bad as things are thanks TwentyTwo for showcasing Utah State LB David Woodward. Wonderful talent.
And despite the white DB attrition there are still some nifty white front seven players in college so on that score all hope isn't lost.
Just think of LBs Fisher and Gallagher at Northwestern. I noticed Colorado LBs Landman and Wells had a ton of tackles Saturday and Baylor LB Clay Johnston is a certifiable stud. There are others.
But the fill in Nebraska sophomore QB Noah Vedral was heroic in Nebraska's stirring win against tough Northwestern. He has real speed and had a 7-33 stat line running and completed the key pass that led to victory. Northwestern WR Riley Lees had a 7-49 stat line to go along with solid returning skills. He is getting more and more involved and is a junior.
We need better results next week in the worst way.
