Tortu has arrived. He has a 10.09, 10.04 and 10.03 so far. And his 10.04 was into a slight negative wind. He has really jumped to the next level this year.

And Hortelano was only 2nd by 1/100th to a guy who has a 20.01 from March.
Rumour has it that Lasitskene is incapable of smiling.
Lalova-Collio is 35 next birthday - and running the best she has for years I think

At another meet previously Julian Reus ran a 10.28 wind legal. The german sprinters sure are off to
a late season start considering they are hosting the 2018 European Championships in around
2 months. Hope these guys can build off this base very quickly so they can perform well in
front of their home crowd at the euro champs. Probably the last chance ever for Reus to go
sub 10 and that won't be easy at almost 30 years of age.

Reus ran 10.47 in the heats at this meet, and didn't make it to the finals.
So at that rate, he might not even make the team this year.

Jan Volko ran 10.20 (1.7w), but only finished 7th in a race in Prague.

It's almost as if some of these guys did zero training over the winter and are coming off the couch. Reus with a 10.47 and Kilty with a 21.50....those times are really slow. Not a good start to the season!

To give Kilty some slack, he did run 20.67 in April in the Com Games and was part of the 4x1 relay win. His recent 10.26 x 100 was his season best for that distance.
Maybe he's experimenting with crossing over the two distances to see how he'll, but whatever, it's still tough to remain at peak

I agree MM but I would go one step further and suggest from a coaching standpoint he do significantly more 200's as his biggest weakness in his 100m is the last 20m where he tends to fade. He will never be top echelon in the 200m but it sure would help his 100m.

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev is backing up his world championship gold medal in the 200 meters this summer. This
guy is simply phenomenal. Love to see him taking scalps. He ran a 19.90 while celebrating a little early. This guy
has such incredible top end speed. Here is the video from todays amazing race!

Gina Lückenkemper (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen) showed a good race in Oslo despite the arrival stress. The young World Championship semi-finalist sprinted to 100th over 100 meters. In 11.16 seconds she increased her season best by nine hundredths. The two winners remained under the eleven-second mark: Indoor World Champion Murielle Ahouré (Ivory Coast) was in 10.91 seconds wafer-thin ahead of Dina Asher Smith, who set a new British record with 10.92 seconds.

Already on Sunday (10th of June) Gina Lückenkemper returns to the highest league and thus against strong international competition - again over 100 meters. And this time in Stockholm. "I'm really looking forward to starting at the Diamond League meetings. It does not help me if I run against national competition only in Germany. At the European Championships I also have to compete against the international competition ", she looks ahead to the next single start.

Some good 400m times from a meet in Spain:
400m 1 Lucas Bua 45.25; 2 Luka Janezic (slo) 45.38; 3 Samuel García 45.61;

Spain is suddenly looking very strong in the 400m with Bua and Garcia above, plus Hortelano and Husillos.
That's 4 guys running in the 45s.
Looking good for the 4x 400m relay in Berlin.

David Kendziera took 2nd at the NCAA 110m Hurdles, missing 1st place by just 1/100th of a second.
Great job, but I feel bad that he missed the title by so little.
He also took 3rd place in the 400m Hurdles. So an amazing double for him.

In the shorter race, ex-HS phenom, Trey Cunningham got 4th place as a freshman.

I see that Kiryu and Taftian are running the 100 in Stockholm in a few hours. Interestingly there are no superstar sprinters so it'll be quite interesting to see where all these 2nd tier guys are at form-wise.

In the womens 100 Carina Horn and Gina Luckenkemper race again as does Lalova-Collio in the 200.
Guliyev's in the men's 200 so we'll see how he backs up after his 19.90

Jenna Prandini took second to Shelly Fraser-Price in the 100 in Kingston, Jamaica yesterday, running 11.14 to SFP’s 11.10. Prandini closed like a freight train in the second half of the race after a poor start left her perhaps dead last at the gun.

Prandini was the only White gal in the field.
