Witten was an all-time great player and seems to be a quality individual, but those characteristics that served him so well as a player now equal "Company Man" when it comes to his broadcasting career. He's never going to be one to say something controversial or outside the narrow confines of corporate broadcasting.

Last night it was obvious that a major talking point was going to be micro-analyzing Mitch Trubisky, pointing out every flaw in his game at this very early stage of his career. With Mahomes off to a flying start and Watson already venerated, the media can't wait to brand last year's second overall draft pick a bust. It doesn't matter that Watson is struggling so far this season, and every black QB who has started off hot has quickly come back to earth. Ridiculous expectations are always placed on White QBs right from the get-go, while black QBs get a much longer time to develop. I think Trubisky will be fine -- if he isn't ruined early on by media and DWF attacks, and Mike Nagy not being patient with him. Considering Nagy purged Nall and Gentry and picked an ILB in the first round when Nick Kwiatkoski is a very good young linebacker, I don't have much faith in him to properly develop Trubisky despite all the acclaim he's getting as a supposed offensive mastermind.

Only Sam Bradford's 4.0 YPA mark has been worse among qualified quarterbacks. Trubisky should have had a third interception in the end zone at the end of the first half, but CB Justin Coleman flat-out dropped it. Trubisky's first pick was a terribly underthrown sideline shot to Allen Robinson, while the other was a ball batted at the line of scrimmage. The touchdowns were a three-yard shovel pass to Trey Burton and an off-balance, 10-yarder to Anthony Miller. Trubisky flashes upside at rare times but mostly plays wildly inaccurate with a tendency to run. He's one of the worst fantasy quarterbacks and won't be on the radar next week in Arizona, even against that horrendous defense.

Drafting Roquan Smith in the first round and then trading for Mack has convinced everyone that the Bears now have a fantastic defense and if they don't win a lot of games the only possible reason is that Trubisky isn't up to the task and that the Bears made a huge mistake in drafting him instead of Mahomes. I could sense the agenda right from the get-go last night. It doesn't matter that the Bears are now 1-1 and could easily be 2-0 if their defense had been able to stop Aaron Rodgers, Trubisky has already been designated a scapegoat in waiting.

For some odd reason, during my running back rounds, I check on Gerhart. Wandering when it would happen, it finally said on his Wikipedia that he was a “former football player”.....I remember going through this with Hillis.....Sad feelings, wasted talent.....

That first Sunday night game the Bears could have definitely won. It seems that the double standard was in place the moment they got the Mack trade. Yes, to his credit Mack made good plays and had the defensive TD and sacks. However, it looks like a contrast is being purposely set up. As you stated, it's like total hype and worship for Mack and over the top critique for any mistake the young Trubisky makes. He's certainly not going to get the long rope and learning curve certain "other" players at his position get.

The Mack hype is unreal. His plays against GB were against the most turnover prone black quarterback we may have ever seen in Duhsone Kizer. His int and strip sack came off the what, the quarter Kizer played? Then Arod hobbled out there and owned Da Bears 2nd half. He was a non factor when game mattered.

That being said Chicago does look better than they have in a long time. As a Defense they have 10 sacks on the year already. Trubisky has played fine considering Allen Robinson is his only receiving threat. I haven't even seen bust Kevin White out there.

I'll give Mack some credit, they did have to chip him in the second half, which I also give credit to the Packers' coaches since the usual when things are going bad is to stand there and look dumfounded. Also Bulaga "Iowa" is on some bum legs so why they didn't to begin this game I don't know.

"Mccaffery doesn't get as many running plays because he doesn't fully know the playbook" I rolled on the floor with laughter as I read this comment. The owner of that post is a negro. Trubisky is going to be a top tier QB as is Josh Allen. Mahommes is a flash in the pan. He is on a fairly decent team, Trubisky's team is not very good so far and Allen is on a **** team...

He's the Deshaun Watson of last year. Nobody seems to be talking about Fitzpatrick who has thrown for way more yards than Sideshow Mahomes and faced a top defense last week in the Eagles and torched them.
