Hall of Famer
Up this week on the Thursday week 11 opening salvo is the Packers vs. Pete's Plantation, AKA the Seahawks. It's not much of a contest as to who we will be rooting for, despite the Pack's best efforts to "blacken up".
Of course one of the big stories this week is the Mexico City turf thing. Many here in KC, including the league-renowned turf guru George Toma say it's pure bunk. To resod a stadium with 9 days to do it is not a problem, especially in a stadium where it's 75 degrees and sunny all of the time. Lincoln Field was 75% resodded only 5 days prior to last years NFC championship game in freaking Philly. Arrowhead here in KC was completely redone a week before the 2017 Steelers-Chiefs game, no problem in below-freezing temperatures.
Clark Hunt did a news conference and basically laid it all on the Rams. He stated that none of the Chiefs players objected to the venue or playing surface, only the Rams. And since the league is interested in mollifying players, and trying to avoid "bad publicity" in regards to them, they announced the move within 45 minutes of the players complaining! They figure the move is better than players boycotting the game or other things that may once again tank ratings and attendance like the whole kneeling thing.
...And the main reason for all of this was just an excuse to move the game back to L.A. It's a hugely important game for the Rams as they are 1 win up on the Saints and will lose a tiebreaker for home field. So why would they want to play in Mexico, where the Chiefs are very popular, when they can have it as a home game? Fat Bastard would be wise to use this as motivation, "They were afraid to play us in Mexico City, let's take it to them in L.A.!"
