Going into the Ohio State game Penn State RB Barkley was being hailed as the "next coming." And he put his mark down early with an opening kick off return and an early 36 yard TD scamper. The coronation and King crown was set in motion. Then in one of the greatest stats I have seen this year for the rest of the game he gained roughly 8 yards on 20 carries. Not a misprint. 8 Yards which means he averaged less than minus two yards a carry. Not too inspiring from the so called Heisman front runner. Penn State could not control the Ohio State front 7 especially their front four that features two noteworthy DE studs Nick Bosa and Sam Hubbard. Hubbard is a red shirt junior and is expected to declare for the draft. He is easily one of my favorite college players . Dripping with pure athleticism he just looks the part of an NFL DE and during this huge game he simply could not be blocked. It will be interesting to see where Hubbard and Bosa go from here but I suspect they will continue to blow up O lineman and send Ohio State to the final four. I would be surprised if they lost another game prior to the playoffs and they could very well win it all due mainly to their ferocious front four. Below is one of the top plays I have seen all year where Hubbard blows up the QB and Barkley together. I posted this video in the college section but what the heck why not again and this time with audio. The guy is an animal and I see his draft stock rising perhaps near the top of the first round when it is all said and done.

Lol. Great play! Why tackle one player when you can tackle two.

We need to see some of our DBs get drafted this year.

We certainly do. Joe Ferguson is a guy I'm high on. 1st year starter as a Senior but he's already responsible for SIX turnovers this year, four of them being interceptions.. But he'll probably be ignored like Caputo and Musso before him.

SC TE Hayden Hurst will forgo his Senior season and enter the 2018 NFL draft. Very understandable given his age (24). He lost several years playing baseball which gives you an idea of his overall athletic ability. Depending on who else comes out this draft this group of TE's could represent the "next wave" of GREAT TE's. As for Hurst it is too early to predict where he will land--still have the combine and workouts after the season---but he has been showing up on some but not all First round lists so one to keep an eye on.

Some more draft news. I have been slacking some this year admittedly.

Supposedly both Tanner Lee QB Nebraska and Clayton Thorson QB Northwestern are both considering to declare for the draft. Lee has been a disappointment but "looks the part" whereas Thorson has led the Wildcats to a 9-3 record but not taken the big leap in terms of his performance. I hope Thorson stays for his senior season as Northwestern may threaten for the Big 10 in 2018. Lee will probably end up being a late round draft pick.

Falk has really fallen off this season - he is probably a mid rounder now. Too many turnovers down the stretch.

Some notable East-West Shrine game invites:
QB Riley Ferguson
QB Luke Falk
QB Mike White
QB Nic Shimonek
QB Jeremiah Briscoe
WR Jake Wieneke
WR Justin Watson

For the Senior Bowl - QB Baker Mayfield is the only announced QB to this point. The Shrine game looks to have gotten a jump on some of the quality seniors and has probably the best QBs I can recall for the Shrine game. My guess is that the idiot Caste cuck Phil Savage will be inviting some other no name black quarterback (like Antonio Pipkin last year - what is he doing now?), Kenny Hill (lol) as well as JT Barrett. Mason Rudolph will undoubtedly be invited. Maybe Logan Woodside and Benkert as well. The Shrine game did a great job getting a jump on this year's talented QB crop.

Josh Rosen and Josh Allen seem to both be 99% certain to declare giving us another deep QB class like 2016 as it is needed because the top two 2015 QBs have been garbage this year.

An overlooked D-2 White RB to watch out for:

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline says Sioux Falls senior RB Max Mickey boasts "a tremendous burst and the speed as well as balance necessary to turn the perimeter."

Mickey (5'8/195) missed time this season with a leg injury, but still posted 937 yards and nine touchdowns in six games played. "Mickey also comes with great instincts and vision, making great use of blocks and run angles to get the most from every carry," Pauline wrote. "He needs to improve his pass catching as well as prove he can return punts, but Mickey offers the ability to line up as a change of pace/situational ball carrier at the next level." Healthy in 2016, Mickey was second in DII in rushing yards with 1,764.

What are the opinions of JT Barrett? He isn't that great of a passer. He doesn't look like a top pick to me. He's nowhere near as good as Baker Mayfield.

Doubt he is drafted. He can't throw the ball accurately - he missed on quite a few throws tonight. I have seen enough of him over his college career to observe this - not just saying that based on his one game tonight. Total system qb.

That's what I was thinking. It's ridiculous the announcers call him a great quarterback. He can't pass well.

JT Barrett has 0 chance to be an nfl qb. He makes Hundley and G. Smith look like pro bowl qbs. He is a good runner
and that is it. He will have to change positions or look for a 9 to 5 job. Probably gonna be made into a receiver or running back in my honest opinion. The biggest joke is that he was the Big Ten QB of the Year. Yeah right. A guy that can't hit the side of an ocean!!

A black CB is selected to the Senior Bowl and weenieworld indicates he is being viewed as being a draftable prospect. A white LB is also invited to the senior bowl and weenieworld indicates that he will be drafted day 3, if at all.

Weber State senior CB Taron Johnson accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Johnson (6'0/185) is the first Weber State player heading to the Senior Bowl since 1999 and just the fourth ever. He's got an intriguing resume. A first team All-Big Sky Conference selection for the season, the corner was just named the 2017 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year on the strength of 39 tackles, eight passes defended and six interceptions. That Johnson earned the invite to the Senior Bowl sheds at least a little light on just how he's being viewed in the early stages of his draft evaluation -- smaller school prospects are by-and-large funneled to the East-West Shrine Game or NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Not so in this case.

Wisconsin redshirt senior LB Garret Dooley accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

In his first year starting for the Badgers, the 6-foot-3, 246-pound Dooley had registered 35 tackles (9.5 for loss), 7.5 sacks and one pass defended entering the weekend. He likely would not see interest until Day 3 of the draft, if he's selected.

Here are the 6 senior bowl QBs. Rudolph and Mayfield have yet to accept. What a contrast to the past few Senior Bowls though. This QB class is deep - especially with Rosen and Allen declaring. Riley Ferguson is another quality senior QB.

Baker Mayfield – Oklahoma
Mason Rudolph – Oklahoma State
LUKE FALK – WASHINGTON STATE
MIKE WHITE – WESTERN KENTUCKY
KURT BENKERT – VIRGINIA
KYLE LAULETTA – RICHMOND

A scout (anonymous of course) ranks that Sam Darnold's "bad face" is a reason he does not like him. I wonder what he has to say about Lamar Jackson. These types of scouts are exactly why so many teams stink each year and have piss poor draft classes.

One NFC personnel member was turned off by USC redshirt sophomore QB Sam Darnold due to his "loopy motion" and "bad face."

That's a new one. The quote derives from Charles Robinson's recent piece and places the conversation back in June, but we are amazed a person paid to evaluate for an NFL team focuses on a player's "face," concluding with "overrated" and "you can have him." In terms of actual football criticisms, Robinson goes on to cite scouts' concerns about Darnold wanting to force big plays by leaving the pocket too early. Be sure to check out the full piece below.

Weenieworld tries to knock this TE draft class (Serigne is a good TE prospect btw):

Wake Forest redshirt senior TE Cam Serigne accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Serigne (6'3/250) finished his regular season with 35 catches for 444 yards -- solid numbers for a tight end -- but he really excelled near the red zone, hauling in eight touchdowns for the Demon Deacons. He currently receives late-round draft pick grades, but in a weak tight end class, he could see those projections shoot up if he tests well and plays well in the Shrine game/practices.

"Loopy motion and bad face". That goes right along with "tight hips and boring feet."

We should make a scouting report comprised of every weird description found in scouting reports of white payers.

Some good news:

Florida redshirt junior DT Taven Bryan announced on Twitter that he'll enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

"Coach (Dan) Mullen coming back to Gainesville made this decision very difficult because I have the highest regard for him and I believe he is going to bring greatness to #GatorNation," Bryan wrote. The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder broke out in 2017 after previously being used as part of a rotation. He finished with 40 tackles, six TFL, four sacks and three quarterback hurries. If Bryan tests well at the combine as expected, he'll have a decent chance to go on Day 2. Walter Football's Charlie Campbell, who reported in late November that Bryan would declare, has heard Bryan compared by scouts to the Chiefs' Chris Jones and the Broncos' Derek Wolfe.

Hopefully Hubbard declares as well.

The Safety situation remains pretty dire in the NFL and at this point it does not look like we will be getting any reinforcements. However the D-Line position might experience a nice boost. The East-West Shrine game looks to feature a good number of white d-line men:

DE Joe Ostman CMU
DT Parker Cothren PSU
DE Dalton Keene Illinois St
DE Marcus Martin Slippery Rock - All time NCAA sack leader (56 career sacks/92.5 TFLs)
DE Justin Lawler SMU - probably this year's Trey Hendrickson - gets downgraded for being a white player and so far has been overlook by the Senior bowl.

SAF Cole Reyes North Dakota - has also been invited.

Overall the Shrine Game seems to have more white players than I can recall in recent memory. So far 12 white o-linemen are on the roster, 4 TEs and 1 WR.

Senior TCU DE Matt Boesen named First Team All-American. This should help his position in the upcoming draft.

Also, Junior Michigan DE Chase Winovich may declare early.

And don't forget about Senior Stanford DL Harrison Phillips who was a runner-up to Josey Jewell for the Lott IMPACT best defensive player of the year.

It sounds as if the 2018 draft will be relatively white friendly. It might be the most pro white draft in many years.

Fingers crossed it'd be nice to see some more cracks in the system but history shows it will stay at around 20%.
