I characterize this week as
better. Improvement over the past two weeks but let me get the bad things out of the way first.
We have to be concerned about both WRs David Sills and Cody Thompson. Looked like surefire NFL draft picks before the season and still should be in my mind but we know the unwritten rules. White players are afforded very little slippage. Just ask Riley McCarron and Nick Williams not to mention countless others who never get a sniff, what happens to white NFL WRs who make a mistake, something black WRs routinely do but are rarely punished for it.
That said another
BLACK
HOLE team bites the dust. Last week it was Oklahoma and this week it was Georgia. But beware. Last year Georgia rebounded from a loss to Auburn and ended up in the Championship.
That is why I think it is important for Clemson, Ohio State and Notre Dame to go undefeated. Looks like Alabama is a lock although without their starting QB they could slip. Trouble is I find it unlikely that all the teams named above except Alabama will stay undefeated.
As usual there was tremendous play all over by white defensive players. I count perhaps up to 5 first round Edge players. Nick Bosa, Chase Winovich, Porter Gustin, Carter Coughlin (MINN) and Zach Allen.
Bosa was playing like the best player in college football before he got injured. Allen is a gigantic mauling type who can tip balls all day long. Gustin who has had injury issues is an animal. Coughlin has tremendous quickness around the edge. And Winovich proved last night he can take on bigger OL and play the run as well as the pass. Winovich is a jewel.
Nice to see BC clobber another black hole team and Glines had another solid day running the ball (17-107-1).
Always nice to see Miami bite the dust and I believe highly rated LB Dax Hollifield got significant playing time for Virginia Tech.
Notre Dame had a tough go with Pitt but hung tough. WR Finke had a nice day again (6-62) and QB Ian Book continues to impress. He had to deal with a brutal pass rush all day long. Tranquill is a stud on defense.
Otherwise caste nightmare Texas A & M has a keeper at TE Jace Sternberger who had a nifty 7-145-1 stat line in a win.
Some FCS news. Our man Zane Dudek must have been out again for Yale but speedster teammate WR JP Shofti had a big day with a 6-152-2 stat line in a Yale win.
WR Jesper Horsted had a 13-169-2 stat line in a Princeton win. Too bad UTC's Bryce Nunnelly had another quiet game.
Back to the Big Ten. The Northwestern game was a hoot and shouldn't WR Flynn Nagel be considered for the draft? He has been excellent all year. Great route runner and terrific hands. And QB Thorson is slowly but surely showing why he could still end up being a first round draft pick. He still has to get back his mobility and isn't quite 100% but he was chucking it yesterday against hapless Nebraska. Edge LB Luke Gifford has played well all year long for the Cornhuskers.
Iowa. If you are a member of CF and like college football and don't like Iowa you need to have your pulse checked. How can you not like a team where most of the defense is
white. And they are damn good. Our
Great White hope CB Riley Moss as mentioned above did get beat for a TD but I agree with the post above he was in position and the guy just made a great catch. Otherwise he looked great and he can tackle notching six for the day. Most CBs can't tackle worth a lick. DE Parker Hesse was in the Indiana backfield all day. Love this team.
Great to see creeping caste conglomerate Penn State eat dirt yet again. I do not like their HC and the more they lose the better at this point.
Michigan manhandled Wisconsin last night. As I predicted this Michigan team is nothing to sneeze at. Their QB Shea Patterson had an 80 yard sprint down the sideline. Remember like Thorson he is coming off an ACL tear and is not 100% in terms of running but he showed some serious speed on that run . This is a player that could skyrocket to the top of the draft. Greta athlete. And then his backup, CM's kid brother Dylan showed off his wheels in a 44 yard sprint dash to pay dirt. Look out. Dylan M looks like a real diamond and should lead the charges next season if Patterson bolts for the NFL.
Word about BYU. Like some magic trick they looked totally different and vibrant once again. They started a freshman QB named Zach Wilson. Sleek and quick as can be this youngster lit it up with his legs and his arm. And they won handily. And some white WRs were getting some touches along with LB Matt Hadley who was moved over to RB and gobbled up a bunch of yards. Did the light switch finally come on over there in Provo?
Along with Flynn Nagel's great day there were a few more dandy WR performances that help take the sting away from the Sills/Thompson let down.
FIU's WR CJ Worton has a nifty 20-459-5 stat line for the year and he is only a junior. ( A transfer out of Florida). He is beginning to emerge. Thanks for the heads up above.
In a late night loss WR McClane Mannix had a big play stat line of 4-109-1.
And WR Scott Miller put on a show in a Bowling Green loss. How is 8-206-2 for a stat line.
Both Miller and Andy Isabella are two players the NFL like to skip over come combine time. They are the type who could light up the 40 and historically the NFL, perhaps I'm being paranoid, doesn't want white speedsters participating. I think they were caught by surprise by Apke last go around.
All I know is both Miller and Isabella more than deserve to be invited. Will the NFL chicken out like they always do?
Below, you have to sift, is Miller's 76 yard TD. Man is he
fast. And like Isabella has been fantastic all year.
