Ahh, yes...sweet memories:

Off topic a bit, but those too young to remember the time when George Brett had a home run disallowed because of too much pine tar on his bat should watch this famous baseball event and Brett's reaction.

Hoskins homers again! Number 7 in 47 AB's/14 games! However, he's only batting .227. 7 of his career 12 hits have been HR's.

My Pirates have had a disappointing season, with Jung Ho Kang's DUIs, Starling Marte's PED suspension, and Gregory Polanco's endless minor "injuries" being the main culprits.

Hoskins AGAIN! Eight HR's in his first 15 games ties a major league record held by Trevor Story and Carlos Delgado. Batting average up to .283.

I can see Trout winning the MVP but it's going to be tough with only his 83rd game played tonight. He'll need to play in every remaining game and continue to tear the cover off the ball.

26 HRs, 60 RBIs, .330 BA, an unreal 1.127 OPS, 5.6 WAR via Fangraphs as of yesterday.

Hoskins 10 HR's in his first 17 games! Another MLB record. 10 HR's in his first 58 AB's. 10 of 17 hits have been HR's.
Hoskins hits his 11th career HR in his first 18 games! Another MLB record! I'm pretty sure we'll never see this again or I won't in my lifetime. Pretty remarkable. I believe he's tied the record for a HR in 8 consecutive games.

After one of the worst slumps of his career, Mike Trout who was 0-for his last 18, went 4-4 with a HR, Triple, 2 singles, a walk, and 4 runs scored last night.

The Houston Astros acquire MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander from Detroit. Verlander with 183 career wins is currently 4th in MLB among active win leaders. Verlander, 10-8 this season gives the Astros a better chance to go deep into the playoffs and maybe the World Series. This gives them a more formidable pitching rotation which includes Dallas Keuchel, 11-3.

Trout had a tough day yesterday (0-4) but the Angels beefed up their line up with the addition of slugger Justin Upton and seasoned pro Brandon Phillips. This should help Mike the last month of the season. I am getting so sick and tired of teams pitching around him so with these additions to the line up I expect Trout to flourish. Pujols knocks in a lot of runs but he is hit and miss and man is he the slowest player going. So let us hope Trout gets hot and the Angels slip into the wild card.

Ugh, Harper goes wigger

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...has-cornrows/?utm_term=.370d042e4397#comments

Bryce Harper, who has been sidelined since suffering a bone bruise in his knee on Aug. 12, played catch and walked up and down a few rows of stairs at Marlins Park before the Nationals’ 2-1 win on Tuesday. Then he went and got his hair done.
Never afraid to try something new when it comes to his style, Harper posted a photo of himself with cornrows on his Instagram story. If he keeps it, Harper’s new look could make his post-home run hair flips a little more difficult.

Angels have 22 games left. Trout needs 21 Runs and 18 BB to get to 100 each. Also needs 3 HRs for 30. He is the official AL leader in OBP, SLG, OPS, IBB
Trout got his 80th run last night. Now only needs 20. He'll probably only play in 114-115 games, so to get 100 runs in that many games would be incredible!

Oakland Athletic Matt Olson 23 1B,LF, could become another young star on the horizon. In 46 games, Olson has 16 HR's.
Philadelphia LF, Rhys Hoskins 14 HR's, BA. .308 in 30 games.

Mike Trout 1-3 HR #28 and 2 runs scored. Now needs 18 runs in 19 games to get to 100 to keep his streak alive. Looks like it'll be close.

Don't look now but the Detroit Tigers have deconstructed their team and the current result is the whitest team in Detroit in years. Most games the team starts:
C McCann
1B Hicks (Cabrera was suspended/injured)
2B Kinsler
3B Castellanos (now in RF, a rookie Latino playing there now)
LF Mikie Mahtook
CF Jacoby Jones
RF Alex Presley

Only Jose Iglasis, Miguel Cabrera, are regulars left over after the rebuild. A virtually all white pitching staff and bench have completely changed the complexion of the team. While the new guys are mostly unproven rookies, it does mean the Tigers are going to be much whiter in the future. The change in team philosophy is a departure with the strategy of ex GM Dave Dombrowsky (now in Boston), which was to sign the highest profile free agents available, typically latin or black. That strategy failed to bring a title and now management is going to try to build with young guys.

Rhys Hoskins, HR's number 15 and 16 last night in only his 32nd game!
Justin Verlander allows 1 hit in 8 innings with his new team, Houston Astros. Career win number 185.
Hoskins going on another tear. Home run number 17 and 37th RBI. in his 33rd game. Now batting .310.
Olson HR number 18 in his 48th game.
