DD, who is Haas? Looking through this thread I don't see anyone with that name.

I'm not DD, but I can give you some help with that. Isaac Haas is Purdue's behemoth senior center. He's 7'2, 290 lbs. of solid muscle. He's been mostly a role player with Caleb Swanigan at Purdue, but this year will be his breakout campaign. He will be an absolute force in the middle for the Boilermakers. When he's on, Haas in unstoppable around the basket, and is VERY efficient. The only thing keeping Haas back will be his conditioning, as it's hard moving that large frame up and down the floor for more than 20-22 minutes per game. If he can stay in the game for 25+ minutes, he'll be first team All Big 10. Even in his part time role, Haas still was second on Purdue in scoring last year at just over 12 PPG. If he can stay in games, look for him to be No. 1 on the team in scoring.

Purdue is more than just Haas. Joining him in the starting lineup will be two guard Dakota Mathias, also a senior. At 6'4, 200 lbs. Mathias is one of the most underrated players in the country. He's been starting since his sophomore year, and is one of the best defenders in the Big 10. He does a bit of everything for Purdue. He scored 10 PPG, led the team in assists, and snatched 4 boards per game last year. He'll be stuffing stat sheets again this year.

Off the bench, sharpshooter Ryan Cline will see a lot of burn this year. He'll look to improve upon his 41% 3pt. percentage from last year. Purdue also has 7'3, 250 lb. behemoth redshirt freshman Matt Haarms coming off the bench this year to back up Haas. Haarms, from the Netherlands, is a little skinnier than Haas, but has a different skill set than Haas does, with a three point shot being the most noticeable part of his game. With an injury to a high-upside athlete, former walk-on Grady Eifert (brother of Tyler Eifert) will likely see some minutes off the bench, as will freshman shooter Sasha Stefanovic.

In regards to the list Dixie posted, it's actually pretty fair, IMO. I've seen far worse ones that that list.

Thanks JL. It would be great to see Isaac Haas break out this year. Yes its got to be tough moving that huge frame up and down a basketball court. But you figure Shaq could do it, and he was even heavier than Haas, so it is possible for Haas to play alot of minutes. The Boilermakers have been a team for us to root for for a few years. Hopefully they are among the best teams in the Big 10 this year, along with Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Northwestern, and Maryland.

Here are a couple more players on blacker teams to potentially look out for. Similar to Georgia Tech's Ben Lammers, the teams they play on may be close to all-black, but it's worth watching because of these players.

Florida's Egor Koulechov definitely fits the above description. Koulechov, born in Russia, is a 6'4 guard, is a grad transfer from Rice, and before that Arizona State. While at Rice, Koulechov dominated, scoring 18 PPG while also grabbing 9 boards per game. It sounds like he'll be starting for the Gators this year as their 3rd guard, so he'll be able to torch some SEC teams from behind the arc, where he's especially deadly from. Last year, he shot over 47% from three!! In terms of white players on the Gators, he'll be about by himself, with only freshman forward Chase Johnson, who has the potential to be special, coming in off the bench.

Riley LaChance, Vanderbilt's point guard, will also fit the bill this year. With the graduation of Luke Kornet and Nolan Cressler, LaChance is the only white Commodore in the rotation this year. They've got two white transfers sitting out, so it'll be all LaChance this year. He averaged 11 PPG and 4 assists per game last year, and will be looked at to increase those numbers to keep the Commodores competitive. He shot nearly 50% from beyond the arc last year as well!

The last guy I want to talk about is finally getting some recognition this year as a great player. He flew under the radar, even slipping by us at CF. That is TCU's Vladimir Brodziansky. A 6'11 JUCO transfer a season ago, Brodziansky is one of the reasons why TCU has a chance to go dancing in his senior season. He is an absolute force in the middle, both on offense and defense. Brodziansky averaged a team-leading 14 PPG last year, to go with 6 rebounds per game, and was 3rd in the whole Big 12 last year in blocks, with over 2 per game. He's going to have to be a leader for this TCU squad, and should get some sort of All-Big 12 mention by season's end.

A few good results in the first round of games tonight already!!

North Carolina's Luke Maye showed he was ready for a big role this season - he led the Tar Heels in scoring AND rebounding with 26 and 10 to go with a block and steal... what a game for Maye!!

In his debut game for the Bulldogs, Butler guard Paul Jorgensen had himself a nice game, filling up the stat sheet. He was second on the team in scoring with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals to go with no turnovers in a blowout win. Nate Fowler came off the bench for 9 and 4.

Virginia's Kyle Guy led the Cavaliers with 16 points as they opened with a win tonight.

South Carolina's Maik Kotsar led the team with 13 points tonight in a win over Wofford.

Wisconsin's three white starters were also their three leading scorers in the Badgers' opening blowout win tonight! Ethan Happ led the way with 20 points and 11 boards (both team highs), Andy Van Vliet had 18 points and 8 boards (2nd on the team in both), and shooter Brevin Pritzl had 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Duke's Grayson Allen had a strong outing as the Blue Devils destroyed an overmatched Elon team. He had 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Freshman Alex O'Connell added 8 points and 3 boards off the bench.

Maryland's Kevin Huerter and Michel Cekovsky both had good outings; Huerter was second on the team with 13 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Cekovsky had 10 points and 3 boards.

Few more results from last night:

Georgia Tech's Ben Lammers got things off to a nice start in China against UCLA, with 24 points (game high), 10 boards (game high), 2 steals, a block, and an assist! Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets came up just short. Freshman forward Evan Cole looked good in his 22 minutes off the bench last night.

For UCLA, they had two white players on the floor for pretty much the entire game, with Thomas Welsh and GG Goloman starting, and Alex Olesinski coming off the bench to spell them. Welsh looked good with 10 points, 8 boards, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in the win. This should be the rotation up front for the Bruins for a while with Cody Riley (the presumptive backup to Goloman), currently staying in China due to shop-lifting.

Purdue devoured a cupcake last night to start the season off. Isaac Haas, in just 17 minutes, scored 16 points, 7 rebounds, and also had a steal and a block. His backup, Matt Haarms, was just as impressive, with 11 points, 5 boards, two steals and two blocks. The Boilermakers' leading scorer on the night was Dakota Mathias, who had 18 points to go with 4 boards, 3 assists, and a steal. Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert both played double digit minutes off the bench in addition to Haarms.

Marquette blew away a terrible team last night, and Andrew Rowsey led the way with 23 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 3 boards. Matt Heldt had 13 and 5 in a starting role. Sam Hauser was pretty quiet. The good news for Marquette is is that they'll get Aussie Harry Froling eligible next month.

Bucknell lost at the end of the game in a close 79-78 contest, but it wasn't because of Zach Thomas. The star player for the Bison had a tremendous game with 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 2 blocks. He should be a stud this year.

Wyoming's Hayden Dalton also had a similar performance, with 30 points, 13 boards, and 2 blocks in a win against Chattanooga.

Perhaps the best performance of the night goes to Marshall's Jon Elmore, who led the Thundering Herd to an OT win with 38 points and 8 assists!! His teammate, forward Ajdin Penava, didn't slack either with a 20 and 10 night.

Unfortunately for Iowa, Nicholas Baer is out for about three weeks with a finger injury, but the Hawkeyes' other white players stepped up. Freshman center Luka Garza led Iowa with 16 points, 5 boards, and 3 blocks. Remember this kid; he's gonna be good. Sophomore PG Jordan Bohannon also had a nice game, with 12 points and 6 assists. Freshman forward Jack Nunge also had himself a nice debut, with 10 points, 4 boards, and 4 steals!

Oregon State's duo powered the Beavers over a cupcake. Tres Tinkle had a game-high 24 points to go with 6 boards and 2 assists. Drew Eubanks had 16 and 7.

For Oregon, senior Roman Sorkin started and had 23 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore PG Payton Pritchard (who many think will have a breakout year) stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, and a steal.

Belmont nearly knocked off virtually all-black Washington, falling by just four points at Washington. The Bruins should finally be making a return to the NCAA tournament, and forward Dylan Windler is a big reason why. He had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Austin Luke, pegged by many as the Bruins best player, had a rough outing. The PG was just 1/8 from the field, with 7 assists to 4 TOs... ouch! The assists were good, but not the rest of the stats.

Finally, Davidson blew away Charleston Southern last night! Sophomore combo guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson was absolutely sensational!! He's going to be a breakout guy this year for the Wildcats. He had a team-high 24 points, to go with 9 rebounds and 8 assists; barely missing out on a triple double!! Senior Peyton Aldridge had a nice start to his last campaign with 18 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists. Davidson should be fun to watch this year; they had 29 assists as a team last night to just 1 TO... wow!!!

Another guy who plays on a darkish team is Xavier's starting SG JP Macura. Macura averaged 14.4 ppg 4.4 rpg 2.9 apg in 33 mins pg in 16-17, and he's gained NBA interest heading into his final season! Look for him to get picked late in the 2nd round. They also start Sr. F/C Sean O'mara 6'10 245, who posted modest 6.1 ppg 3.5rpg in 13 mins last season. Thats pretty much it for Xavier, other than a couple walk-ons.

Alabama Crimson Tide
I had to do one for my parents Alma mater. HC Avery Johnson guided the Tide to a 19-15 record in the SEC. Their roster looks like your typical SEC team with a few pale faces sprinkled in.

Incoming Fr. Collin Sexton will grab most the headlights, but Sr. Riley Norris is probably their most important player! Starting SF Norris 6'7 205 returns after a 16-17 of 9.1 ppg 3.8 rpg in 27 mins. A career .360% 3pt shooter he's the Tides best shooter, and should be one of the best in the SEC! Fan favorite G Lawson Schaffer was impressive in limited mins last season, and will see a bump in PT. Schaffer a 5'11 So. was a preferred walk-on, despite averaging 22 ppg and 7 apg for one of Alabama's top HS teams. He'll be apart of the Tides rotation as one of the back-up PG's. He posted 5pts in 11 mins in the season opener vs Memphis! The only other white on the roster is another walk-on So. F Landon Fuller 6'8 225, he likely will only see garbage mins.

Creighton destroyed all-black Alcorn State today 109-72. Freshman guard Mitchell Ballock was second on the team in scoring with 15 points, and forward Martin Krampelj has been playing well to start the year; he had 7 points and 12 boards tonight. Most playing time was fairly limited, as Creighton subbed a lot this game.

Ethan Happ had 12 points and 11 boards as the Badgers coasted past Yale, who have four black starters without Makai Mason in the lineup.

Miami's three-point sniper, Dejan Vasiljevic led the Hurricanes with 16 points in a demolishing of Navy.

Matt Farrell had 15 points and 2 assists in Notre Dame's season-opening win against DePaul yesterday; Max Strus had 11 and 5 for DePaul in a losing effort.

Grayson Allen had 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in Duke's win Saturday; their final tune-up before playing Michigan State Tuesday.

Duncan Robinson led Michigan in scoring in posting a 21 and 7 line, and Mortiz Wagner had a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a Wolverines win. Good starts for both of our Michigan stars!

Calvin Hermanson led St. Mary's with 24 points while also grabbing 7 boards, Jock Landale had 13 and 8, and Emmett Naar had 8 points and 12(!) assists as the Gaels got their season going against a cupcake.

Three UCLA basketball players detained in China on suspicion of shoplifting were headed back to the United States on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump said he had sought the help of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the case.

Staff for Delta Air Lines confirmed that the players had boarded a Delta flight from Shanghai to Los Angeles.

"What they did was unfortunate," Trump told reporters earlier in Manila. He said the trio, who have been held since last week, could have faced long prison sentences, and described Xi's response as "terrific."


"They're working on it right now," Trump said.

Trump had raised the issue with Xi during a dinner held during the U.S. leader's Nov. 8 to 10 state visit to Beijing. Trump was in the Philippines capital for a summit of Asian leaders.

Asked about the trio and Trump's discussing the issue with Xi, China Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a daily news briefing in Beijing: "Until now, I have not received any update, so I am unable to provide any further information."

The three basketball players from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) were detained by police on Nov. 7 in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou over allegations of shoplifting. They were not on the team's return flight to the United States on Saturday.

A senior White House official said the players had been given relatively light treatment due to Trump's intervention.

"It's in large part because the president brought it up," the official told Reuters.

The UCLA team had been in China for a game against Georgia Tech in Shanghai on Saturday, which UCLA won 63-60. The teams had traveled to Hangzhou earlier in the week to visit the headquarters of the game's sponsor, Chinese tech giant Alibaba.

The three students — freshmen LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley, and Jalen Hill — were taken in for questioning by police about alleged shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store during the Hangzhou visit.

They were released from police custody early on Wednesday and had been confined to a luxury hotel in Hangzhou pending legal proceedings, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Always pleased when Grayson Allen has a great game and leads Duke to a victory. Also Svi helped Kansas beat dreaded Kentucky. Somehow the filthy NBA is able to dictate the eligibility rules regarding College Players and every stinking year we have to witness this disgusting Kentucky program bring in mostly one and done freshman who are always black as Dick Vitale squeals like a pig in heat about their "athleticism." I do wonder some time if I am dead already and residing in hell because this is a recurrent nightmare every season. It turns College Basketball and the notion of higher education into a farce.

As for the three UCLA players who robbed multiple stores in China see above. How brainless do you have to be to cause trouble in a Communist country that has major civil rights issues? On ESPN Stephen A Smith thinks they should be suspended half a season and Will Cain thinks the whole season. I agree with that. Max Kellerman thinks a game or two will suffice. Get a grip Kellerman. The President had to get involved for crying out loud. As it is UCLA has so far copped out suspending these fools "indefinitely."

Thanks for the kind words, Shadowlight; I definitely appreciate it. I know I'm a bit late, but some great performances by Grayson and Svi last night in prime-time games!! Nice video of Barcello, WL! I look forward to watching him play this year.

Here are a few more from note last night: In addition to DiVincenzo, freshman point guard Collin Gillespie has been playing a huge role for the Wildcats early as well. Gillespie had 10 points, 5 assists, and 4 boards with no turnovers last night. When Brunson moves to the NBA, it'll hopefully be Gillespie's show to run for the next three years.

In a less publicized game then the two in the Champions' Classic, Purdue and Marquette had some great performances by our guys. First and foremost, Isaac Haas has been phenomenal for the Boilermakers in the early going. Haas led Purdue with 22 points, five boards, 2 assists, and a block. Marquette constantly had to double team him, Heldt and his backups simply couldn't hold Haas down. Dakota Mathias also stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 4 assists, and 5 boards.

For Marquette, Andrew Rowsey has had quite the start to the year. The senior dynamo kept Marquette in the hunt with 25 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. Sam Hauser finished with 12 and 8 on the night.

There's a couple games from Monday I wanted to draw attention to as well.

Nearly all-white St. Mary's ended up crushing CF non-favorite New Mexico State 92-74, who's lengths to not recruit any white players have been noted on CF. Landale finished with 20 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in a dominating performance. Emmett Naar was just as dominant, with 22 points, 5 assists, 3 boards, and no turnovers.

With his primary competition out for the time being, Northwestern's Gavin Skelly has been making the most of his starting role, and he had 14 points and 6 boards in a win Monday; here's hoping he continues to start going forward!

Over-achievers from mostly-white Belmont, after nearly knocking off Washington in their first game, managed to knock off nearly-all black Vanderbilt in a nice early season upset. The Bruins started three whites, with three more logging at least five minutes off the bench in the Bruins' 10-man rotation. Starting forward Dylan Windler led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds!! Hope to see this team continue to improve and make the tournament.

Lastly, Florida's Egor Koulechov got himself settled in nicely in Gainesville; in just 26 minutes, he had 34 points (11/17 from the floor), 5 assists, and 5 rebounds!!

Wisconsin Center Ethan Happ has 9pts 3reb and Guards Brevin Pritzl and Brad Davison have 7 and 11 respectively at half. Tied at 34! Good one on FSN.

Wisconsin and Xavier played a great game last night, with Xavier winning on a couple of lucky late threes. Ethan Happ willed the Badgers into a tie with Xavier at 64-64 with less than two minutes left when Bluiett hit the two shots for the Musketeers. Happ finished with 21 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, a block and a steal last night. Brevin Prtizl finished with 13 points and 4 boards. The guy that impressed me most was freshman combo guard Brad Davison. Davison was in at the end of the game for the Badgers, usually unheard of for a Wisconsin true freshman this early in a season. He finished with 12 points. JP Macura finished 2nd on the team with 20 points to go with 8 boards and 4 assists for Xavier.

Belmont got another quality win last night, upending Middle Tennessee, which should be one of the top mid-majors in the country this year. Dylan Windler had a double double with 11 points and 10 boards, while stud PG Austin Luke finished with just four points, but dished out 11 assists!! I'm hoping Rick Byrd and the Bruins are able to get back to the Dance, and the way they've played against big programs and a quality mid-major thus far makes me think they can.

Michigan sophomore Jon Teske sparked what was an anemic Wolverines team last night against Southern Mississippi. The big man had 10 points (on 5/5 shooting!) and 11 boards in just 15 minutes!! Duncan Robinson finished with 12 points and 4 boards, while Wagner had 12 and 6.

Dejan Vasiljevic seems to be starting for Miami now, and the move has paid off; Vasiljevic was tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points, while also grabbing 4 boards and 2 assists.

I was bored this morning, so I found myself watching South Carolina. The Gamecocks may actually be watchable this year, thanks to two big guys. We remember Maik Kotsar, a freshman who started on their Final Four team last year. This year, they have Felipe Haase, a freshman from Chile who's been averaging 25 minutes per game already on the season! Haase is a bigger guy at 6'9 250, and he impressed me this morning. In their demolition of UTEP this morning, Kotsar had 14 points, while Haase had a nice 7 and 7 in 24 minutes.

Matt Farrell had 18 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists in a blowout win for Notre Dame.

Egor Koulechov had a double double in Florida's win over North Florida with 13 points and 10 boards, while also dishing out 5 assists.

I've been paying attention to a few more teams, and I hope to write a couple of them up in the coming days.

Forgive me, but Monday, I somehow didn't post about the highly anticipated debut of Virginia's redshirt freshman Jay Huff. He went 7/8 from the field and finished with 16 points, 5 blocks, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 24 minutes!! Not bad for the 7'1 forward! He's got all of the tools to be a great player.
