Chad Hansen - WR - Golden Bears
Cal head coach Sonny Dykes said redshirt junior WR Chad Hansen is "one of the best pro prospects on the team."

"Chad’s got a chance to be one of the elite receivers in the league," Dykes added. Hansen has the highest receiving totals of any returning Cal player -- their receiving depth chart was decimated over the winter -- with 19 receptions and 249 yards and a touchdown in 10 games off the bench. He had five receptions for 52 yards and a two-point conversion catch in the spring game. Heading into August, Hansen is listed as the starter at "Z" outside receiver position on the depth chart.

Indiana redshirt junior WR Mitchell Paige drew praise from an anonymous Big 10 coach.
"Mitchell Paige is 5-foot-nothing, but he’s a hell of a slot guy and competitive SOB who you’ve really got to watch out for in the punt return game," the coach said. Paige finished second on the team last year with 57 receptions, third on the team with 684 yards and ended up leading the Hoosiers with six touchdown grabs. From Yesterday: Nebraska wide receiver coach Keith Williams said senior Brandon Reilly holds the keys to going from a good wide receiver to a great one. The senior had a couple drops on Tuesday and his position coach said he thinks Reilly doesn’t know his own potential. Williams wants Reilly to continue to get better mentally and challenge himself to build on last season.

as Leonardfan touched on in this thread's opening post, Cal's coaching staff heaped praise during the offseason on the now-junior wideout, Chad Hansen. and he finally got a scholarship! he still had to show his playmaking on the field to silence the doubters, though, since last year he totaled just 249 yards.

after the season-opening game against Hawaii, consider his playmaking proven. Hansen finished the contest with 14 receptions for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns. the following should be noted:

- he had 9 more catches than anyone else on his team
- his 14 catches were just 2 off the Cal single-game record (especially notable considering Cal wants to spread the ball around)
- he set career-highs for catches, yards, and touchdowns ... in the first half

throughout the game, it was clear that he was far and away the best receiver in the game, and he showed off his talents in a variety of ways. whether it was jumping over an affletic defensive black *tm* to pull in an underthrown ball for a touchdown ...

giving a go-to-hell as he picks up yards after the catch ...

or "somehow" using his (i'm sure tight hips) "deceptive" speed and blue collar hustle to elude the room-brightening smilers in the open field ...

it was clear that Hansen was exercising his White privilege to full effect as he repeatedly oppressed the Black Lives Matters secondary of Hawaii. hopefully, this is just a prelude of more things to come!

The "look" such an obvious and blatant term for black. I hope Cooper has a huge senior season and parlays it into an early round pick.

North Dakota State junior RJ Urzendowski is the Nebraska high school record-holder for receptions and receiving yards (but wasn't recruited by Nebraska!), was the top Bison receiver a season ago, and looks to be their big-play guy in the passing game this year, as well.

he accounted for 59 yards and 1 touchdown on just 2 catches, including the longest play of the game (a 47-yard touchdown catch and run). he also had another 30-something yard catch-and-run off a bubble screen called back due to a penalty well behind the play. sigh.

I just read some huge article off of draftdaddy about Cooper Kupp. My god it was so off putting. One college recruiter said nobody would recruit him because he was a skinny white kid and did not look like a D 1 wr. He went on to say the guy just did not have the body type of someone that plays D 1 ball. He seemed to have forgotten he said " white kid " at the beginning of the statement. Next a pro scout thinks he will make a great slot receiver in the NFL. He is 6'2". Then he stated he will be better than Welker or Edelman because he is taller. # 1 the guy is not a slot receiver. # 2 This guy torched a pretty good Oregon secondary for 13 catches and 3 td's. He has more catches than Jerry Rice and td receptions than Rice and he has done it in two less games and he still has a year to play. He is fast, fluid , runs incredible routs and can create after the catch. My only knock on the kid when he runs he looks like " crazy legs " Elroy Hirsch. He will be a first round pick based on a team's needs and he will play on the outside and dominate the NFL for years to come.

Toledo's Cody Thompson, a 6-foot-2 junior, is perhaps the most under-appreciated, under-rated, and overlooked big play threat in the country. even most of us here at CF don't give him enough credit.

he's so good, that he makes plays like this one look routine. last year as a sophomore, he was #3 in the country in yards-per-catch (22.3) while leading his team with 825 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air.

this season, he's picking up right where he left off ... on the road tearing through the defending Sun Belt Champion Red Wolves secondary like a, well, Rocket. pun! he had multiple big plays on the night, including catches of 48 and 54 yards, as well as the above 16-yard touchdown. his dazzling run-after-catch ability literally leaves defensive blacks *TM* grasping at air and sprawling on the ground. he did have a fumble, which marred his otherwise stellar performance. he finished with 174 yards on 5 catches for an eye-popping 34.5 yards-per-reception in his season debut. imagine what he could do if he had some explosiveness or athleticism!

Dan Arnold is a junior wide receiver and preseason All-American for Division III Wisconsin Platteville. an all-conference performer a year ago, he led the Pioneers with 921 yards and 12 touchdowns on just 48 catches.

he's also an All-American hurdler, finishing last track season with a personal-best 13.93 in the 110-hurdles. to put it in perspective, that time would have easily qualified him for the semifinal round of the NCAA Division I track and field Championship.

oh! did i mention that he's doing that while standing 6-feet 6-inches tall?

this dazzling athlete is obviously playing small college football, but he's a big time talent. he's one to keep an eye on.

The Wyoming Cowboys have an impressive duo of White wideouts. In yesterday's victory over Northern Illinois, both Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt, went for over 100 yards. Gentry had 104 yards with a touchdown and Mualhardt had 106 yards with a long catch of 44. Will be fun tracking their progress this season!

if you're a White high school record-setting, blue collar over-achieving wideout and pass the 2,000 yards receiving mark, IN ONE SEASON no less, then you might just be able to snag a spot on the Auburn Tigers ... as a walk-on back-up kicker. truly. here's the almost unbelievable (if it weren't for the Caste System) story of Will Hastings, an outstanding talent who was completely ignored by almost everyone. except himself

Will Hastings, from Little Rock, Arkansas (Pulaski Academy High), caught 113 passes for 2,040 yards and 23 touchdowns in his senior season in 2014 to become only the second player in state of Arkansas history to record 2,000 or more yards receiving. if my numbers are correct, he caught 26 touchdowns as a junior. he didn't receive a single scholarship offer. measuring 5-foot-10, 172-pounds, he is hardly a monster. but he's also not the smallest guy in the world (despite what some detractors would tell you). but, with nothing to lose and his love of football, he decided to try his luck at Auburn and walked on. as a kicker. the rest is ... well ... interesting.

during the winter conditioning and testing drills after his freshman football season (he'd been the designated onside-kick kicker), Hastings set two Auburn records for agility. he ran an eye-popping 3.89-second pro agility drill, and he blazed a 10-yard sprint in 1.38 seconds. his times are the fastest ever at Auburn in both categories. he's also the fastest current player in "L" drill for agility, with a stellar 6.46 seconds. here's the proof:

with a new receivers coach on the staff, they started giving him reps at wideout even though he's still also listed as a kicker on the official roster, too. he kept making plays. it was soon apparent that he couldn't be covered. and he had the best hands on the team.

this spring, he got more reps. and made more plays. this fall, he kept getting open. and catching the ball. pretty impressive considering the previous receivers coach (black former black quarterback Dameyune Craig) "didn't really like him for whatever reason" according to the current coaching staff. with his "surprising" performance, Hastings earned a scholarship.

in Auburn's opener, his 3 receptions for 29 yards were both second on the team. each of Hastings' three catches resulted in first downs, two on third down, and one on fourth down. his first career collegiate catch gave Auburn it's first first down of the season.

isn't it "weird" that a kid with so much obvious physical talent and playmaking ability could be so completely ignored by all the so-called "talent" "scouts" that allegedly "scour" the country for "talented" players? and isn't it also "weird" that, despite how we're "informed" that "the best players play," this young man was wasting away on the bench because his position coach "didn't really like him for whatever reason?" i "wonder" what the "reason" was ...

JC, stories involving the Caste System are unbelievable. I've been reading stories like this for 8+ years at CF, so I thought I've seen it all, but this might take the cake. Backup kicker!? How many guys would have have this young man's fortitude to not give up on his football dream? Can't be too many and who would blame any White athlete for giving up. Either being ignored or sadistically jerked around by Caste clown, cucked coaches. "Men" who would be seen as traitorous scum during any other time in history instead of "respected" multimillionaires.

we all "know" if you want dat speed, you gots to go to down souf! Florida, in particular, gots lots o' dat speed! in light of that "truth," it was interesting to witness something supposedly impossible in the University of Florida's season opener ...

even wif all dat speed on da Gators, the fastest player on the field, in point of fact, was on the other team.

when UMass true sophomore tailback-turned-wideout Andy Isabella (who i mentioned in detail in this post) stepped on the field, he was THE fastest player in the game.

take a moment and read that again.

Isabella, with a personal-best of 6.72 in the 60 meters, 10.51 in the 100-meters (the state record-holder in the state of Ohio), and 21.27 in the 200-meters, is one of the fastest football players in the nation. he was also completely ignored by the so-called "talent" "scouts" and college coaches who reportedly "covet speed." you can find more info in my original post on him, but suffice it to say that this Zero-star, completely unrated non-recruit was faster than any of the "real" affletes in Florida's secondary, all of whom were highly recruited (4-star cornerbacks Duke Dawson and Quincy Wilson, 3-star cornerback Chris Williamson, and 4-star safeties Nick Washington and Marcus Maye).

yes, that's right. Isabella (zero stars, zero FBS scholarship offers) is faster than the starting quintet of the Gators with scholarship offers from literally almost every FBS program. "weird," huh?

you certainly don't take my word for it. watch this 53-yard bomb, which, if it hadn't been underthrown likely would've been a 93-yard touchdown. as it was, the first-year wideout (he was a tailback as a freshman and in high school) finished the game with 3 catches for a game-high 95 yards.

just imagine what he could do if he had some explosiveness! or some speed. or talent. or whatever it is that allegedly he doesn't have which caused him to be so completely ignored by the "experts" who supposedly want guys just like him ... only darker.

a quick follow-up to my above post regarding Will Hastings of Auburn ... he was targeted 4 times (the second-most of any Auburn pass catcher), and all 4 targets resulted in first downs.

Hastings had 3 receptions: he picked up eight yards on a third-and-7, 10 yards on third-and-10 and 11 yards on fourth-and-4 against Clemson. he also managed to contort his body on an under thrown ball by quarterback Sean White to draw a defensive pass interference call, which also resulted in a first down. not bad for an unwanted walk-on kicker ...

it seems i've heard this story before ... one of the top high school sprinters in the country (personal-bests of 10.53 in the 100-meters and 21.26 in the 200) is an all-around dominant force on the football field whilst setting numerous school records.

what's supposed to happen next, according to the "experts" that insist that coaches "recruit the best talent available," is that scholarships are supposed to pile up as coaches recruit players like that in order to use their "coveted" speed for their programs. that happens a lot, if you fit the mold. but if you don't "look the part," then those scholarships never appear.

meet Scotty Miller, a true sophomore wideout for Bowling Green. his elite, game-breaking speed provides instant big-play potential on every snap. his high school resume indicates he's a multi-dimensional playmaker with the ball in his hands. yet, he only received ONE scholarship offer from an FBS program. "weird," huh? i guess his blue collar, lunchpail, over-achieving looks turned that legitimate, game-changing speed into something so deceptive all those coaches couldn't believe he was actually fast.

this is what deceptive speed looks like, i guess ...

as it is, Scotty Miller has 3 catches for 99 yards in the first quarter today, including that 71-yard touchdown catch-and-run. imagine what he could do if he was explosive!

edited to add: midway through the third quarter, Miller now has 5 catches for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Hastings had a 29-yard TD catch against Arkansas State, with another catch going for 5 yards. This guy should keep getting better and better as he gets more snaps and targets.

Currently 4 of the top 8 FBS receiving yard leaders (Hansen #1, Sperbeck #6, Thompson #7, and Taylor #8) are white, with VandeBerg and Gentry not far away. Meanwhile, 3 of the top 4 receiving yard leaders at FCS-level (Summers #1, Barhelette #3, Kupp #4) are also white, with Wieneke #12 for yards and T-#1 for TDs. And yet NFL WRs are roughly 10% white (would be more like 2% if you exclude the Packers and Patriots) and I'm sure these guys are "too slow" and "not athletic enough" to play in the NFL
