Baseball was far and away my favorite sport growing up, but over time I began losing interest, and now follow it very little, mainly to see how White players are doing.
Sports Illustrated (from a Cultural Marxist Perspective) had an interesting article recently on this year's trends. Through May 1, 38.2% of all runs scored this season have come on home runs, the highest percentage ever, even more than during the Steroids Era.
The reliance on homers is because baseball more and more is becoming a "homer or strike out" game. Strikeouts are up to 21.5% of plate appearances, also the highest rate ever, while walks are at the lowest rate in half a century. Batters are now hitting singles in less than 15% of at-bats, the lowest rate ever. And, stolen bases are at the lowest level in 44 years.
SI writes that "teams have become reliant on home runs because there is no other reliable way to score. Stringing hits together has become an uphill battle. Rallies are snuffed out by strikeouts that increase in frequency as the situation becomes more important."
How sad. Rallies -- stringing hits together -- bunts, hitting to the opposite field to advance runners, sacrifice flies, choking up on the bat to make contact and other strategies to get on base and generate runs -- is the essence of baseball. Now it's swing for the fences on every pitch and either hit a home run or strike out.
Sports Illustrated of course doesn't criticize this state of affairs, which is caused by a drastic decline in fundamentals, which in turn has been caused by MLB's pandering to minorities, particularly hispanics from Central America, many of whom are ungrateful, arrogant punks. There are other factors, such as BSPN showing little but home runs, which encourages players to try to hit them to make that night's highlights and land big contracts.
SI and the rest of the sports media rarely decry the decline in fundamentals and discipline in sports, for obvious reasons. Hell, they want that state of affairs as part of the agenda to bring down White culture and its freedoms and meritocracy and replace it with a third worldish society that can be much more easily controlled and manipulated. About the only thing they'll bemoan is a supposed lack of quality quarterbacks in the NFL, which just happens to be the one glamorous White position left in football, the one that drives the anti-White hive bonkers with hatred and jealousy.
