I was watching BSPN highlights last night waiting for the Stanford stuff and an NBA highlight reel was shown and somebody actually passed the ball to another opponent. Maybe he was having a seizure. Remember when the game was fun to watch in the 80's with the Celtics and Lakers? At least it was a team sport back then. Absolutely unwatchable.

I was invited as a guest through work to this week's Nets-Hawks matchup, my first NBA game in many years. The Nets are an awful team, apparently still hampered by trading for all those old Celtics players a half-decade ago. They did give double-digit minutes to five different white players (if you count Brook Lopez, which I don't always). It really seems like the league's worst teams stick a couple extra white guys on the floor on purpose (I'm thinking of last year's Sixers team, especially).

Speaking of the Sixers, TJ McConnell, undrafted point guard out of Arizona, finished off the Knicks with an inside-out baseline jumper as time expired the other night. The Knicks, however, were without their own star point guard, Derrick Rose. Rose, who was acquitted of gang rape this offseason, apparently grew so upset with Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek that he simply didn't show up to the game. Had he been kidnapped, waylaid, or lampooned? No, he just flew home to Chicago for a couple of days to stew because Hornacek (a former prolific white off-guard himself) played undrafted Ron Baker down the stretch in the previous game. Despite a salary of over $180,000 per game, Rose could not muster the will to suffer this indignity in person. Fortunately for the city of New York, he has calmed down enough to return to the team, and Hornacek has learned his lesson by once again burying Baker on the bench the next two contests.

Overall, I felt that $0 was a fair price to pay for the evening of NBA action, and I would consider doing it again for that amount in a large social group setting.

For the most part Phall you're correct, however, there are a couple of decent teams who play white players in bunches. I've been able to watch a little of the Charlotte Hornets this season. They're 20-19 and I've seen as many as 4 of 5 white players, when healthy, on the court at a time. Zeller, Kaminsky, Belinelli, and Spencer Hawes, I kid you not, were all on the court at the same time leading a massive comeback against Cleveland I believe. I don't think they won, but Kaminsky had a huge game that night. Also, OKC, 24-16, can have Adams, Sabonis or Kanter and Singler on the court at the same time. Several teams play 2 white players at a time that are pretty good too. San Antonio and Memphis and Atlanta, who just traded Kyle Korver.......

as mentioned Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Mike Dunleavy and Mo Williams. Korver is listed first on the Cavaliers depth chart at SG. We'll see tonight when they play out west. It'd be great to see Love and Korver tearing it up together, but I doubt he gets many touches.

CS, my (middle) son is a big Korver fan & was upset when the Hawks traded him. However, it's a great opportunity for Korver to get more open shots & perhaps a championship ring.

At the half way mark into the season and it has been a middling affair. I went into the season pessimistic and nothing has happened to change my gloomy outlook. There are clearly no white superstars anymore and it is doubtful one will emerge in the next couple of years. White players are not focus points on teams per say and there are very few white backcourt players of any import. Sure there are a few bright spots here and there but overall nothing to jump up and down about. If I had to pick the best white player it would be Gordon Hayward. He is having his best season to date and the Jazz actually lead their conference. I like his playing style a lot. He can do a lot of things well and is a smooth natural athlete. He has had some pretty dunks this year. Out of all the young white guys Porzingis has the most upside and most expect him to blossom into a big time player. He has a ton of potential. Unfortunately the Knicks have fallen on some bad times and winning basketball is what it is all about at the end of the day. Remember Larry Bird played on terrific teams and the biggest reason why was Larry himself. It is also disconcerting to think loaded black to the hilt Golden State are in position to win the whole thing. What a drag.
The verdict on the next wave of white players from college, high school and overseas is decidedly mixed at best. The good news is their are several quality freshman playing in college right now. The bad news is the high school classes of 2017 and 2018 are white free at the top. The just announced McDonald's All American game features no white players. Hell they could field four all American teams and still no white would make a roster that is how barren it is for the classes of 2017 and 2018. White prospects make up around five to ten percent of the top 100 in these two classes and most all of them are towards the bottom of the lists.
There are some Euro players who could emerge come draft time this year and next but there are also black Euro players getting hyped to the max. The 2017 NBA draft will start becoming clearer in a month or two. Grayson Allen was projected to go in the 20's before the season but the gurus have dropped him like a rock into the second round and( beyond?) so he might have to stay at Duke next season just to get back on track in their minds.

Hard to disagree Shadowlight. However, as you said there are some freshmen playing well and as you know JackLambert does a great job of covering college basketball. Hopefully, we'll see some of these players break through into college and the NBA in the future, despite getting overlooked for the McDonald's All-American Team.

I want to add to your post about Hayward and Porzingis; There could be another white star on the rise if he continues to get playing time. Denver's Nikola Jokic, PF., last four game stats have been 35/12, 29/15, 30/11, and 22/10. He's averaging almost 15 points and over 8 boards on the season. At just 21 years old he seems to be coming into his own. Denver also starts Danilo Gallinari and plays their young center Jusuf Nurkic, 22, quite a bit.

Sam Dekker starting tonight for Houston possibly for Ryan Anderson, flu, but I hope not, because he's playing well. Leading the Rockets with 16 first half points, 2 boards and 2 steals in only 18 minutes! It would be nice if Anderson and Dekker could start together. Could be a good night. Many of our guys playing well early!

Dekker out scores Harden. Finishes with a team high 30 points and 4 boards as Houston beats Memphis. Marc Gasol, Memphis, also playing well this season finished with 32 points 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, should be an all star!

Well men, this is about as good as it can get with us in the NBA. Despite several guys being out or not in action, and or not having their best game; Vucevic, Nowitzki, Rubio, Anderson, McDermott, and Korver just to name a few. Not a bad night considering the odds. Porzingis, Love, and Redick didn't have their best tonight, But Hayward, Gasol, and Dragic played like the all stars they are. Sam Dekker showed what he can do when given the chance. Ilyasova has been playing well lately as well as Jokic. Good to see David Lee get a start and he responded.

Great updates. I'm exited to see Decker finally getting his game back to a level where he demands
to be on the floor more. He was so amazing in college. Most of our guys just need more minutes. Too
many teams leave them on the bench for most if not for the whole game. You can only improve by
practicing and playing in real time.
