Alright, 2015's final Major and lots to talk about. I'll start by saying no matter what happens, this has been a great year for the PGA. Jordan Spieth winning The Masters and U.S. Open followed by Zach Johnson taking the British Open.

I completely agree CS!! I love the PGA Championship; anything can happen in the year's final Major. Some great groups: McIlroy, Spieth, Johnson in one and Fowler, Day, and Dustin Johnson in another. It should be an awesome weekend.

Like you said, so many story lines - Will Spieth win his 3rd major of the year? Will McIlroy have some form in his return and title defense? Will there be another first time major winner (such as Fowler, Johnson, Garcia, etc.) ala Kaymer, Bradley, and Dufner? Will a vet like Phil, Furyk, Adam Scott, or Bubba find some weekend magic and pull out another major?

It should be an awesome (and likely Tiger-free!!) weekend. Honestly, there could be a LOT of different winners for this major that would make for a great story. I'm just hoping it's something close to last year in terms of Sunday excitement, where Rory out dueled Phil and Fowler to win his 4th major on the back 9 on Sunday.

Yes JL, I think this PGA is up for grabs. Any number of players can win this.

Interesting note on Spieth. He has missed the cut in the last 2 PGA's, however, I believe he'll be around for the weekend this time.

Zach Johnson coming off his British Open Championship had a T-3 in the 2010 PGA, the last time it was played at Whistling Straits!

.....and Tiger keeps saying he's on his way back and almost there. We'll see.

If Woods doesn't win the PGA, he turns 40 in December, and will fall further behind Nicklaus' pace of 18 Majors.

Nicklaus won number 15 at age 38, won 2 more at age 40, and of course his record 6th Masters at age 46!

Woods would have to win 3 Majors next year to keep pace with Jack, if he doesn't win this weekend.

There he is, Tiger Woods, once again on the front page of the PGA Tour website being touted as a part of a marquee group featuring, Martin Kaymer and Keegan Bradley. The 278th ranked player in the world is currently even and in a T-39 at this point, with about half of the field yet to tee off.

Thomas Bjorn is -5 and in 1st.

2. Dustin Johnson -4

Tiger caught saying to himself: "Jesus f-cking Christ, what the f-ck is wrong with you?!"

http://www.sbnation.com/golf/2015/8/13/9147479/tiger-woods-cursing-again-pga-championship

The writer says Woods had been playing better golf with the exception of the last 2 Majors. He failed to mention that this isn't Greenbrier or The Quicken Loans where he finished T-32 and T-18 respectively on easier courses and lesser competition. This is the PGA at Whistling Straits, a tough course, with all of the top golfers in attendance! (97 of the top 100) as well as others.

He missed the cut at the U.S. Open and The British Open on the hardest courses and the toughest competition. He did make the cut at The Masters, however, Augusta is a forgiving course for those who aren't driving the ball particularly well. He got away with it there, but now the cream is rising to the top.

Woods just doesn't have it right now on the tough courses with the top players in the world. He will probably never get it back or anywhere near what he was!

Always amazed by people who invoke the name Jesus Christ, whom they don't believe. He shows a total lack of respect for God or anyone else.

Woods is at +4 with six holes to play and the projected cut line is +1, so it looks like Eldrick will again be jetting home from a major after two rounds.

The leader board is really bunched at the top with well known and not so well known players jostling for position. Jason Day is currently one stroke ahead at -9 but the tournament is wide open at this point.

Unless Woods produces at least 2 birdies in his 5 remaining 2nd round holes, completely turns his game around, makes up over 10 strokes to overtake the leaders, and wins the PGA Championship...he'll enter the 2016 Masters having gone nearly 8 years since winning the 2008 US Open, his last (and likely final) Major.

How many golfers who've gone even half as long without winning a major are still being discussed by the corporate media as relevant? Rhetorical question, of course.

It's already been a great round of golf today, with the leaders yet to tee off.

Phil makes a career high for birdies in a major, with 9 on his round today!! He's now at -5.

Boo Weekly has the low round so far, with a 65, and is -6 for the round.

Rory drained a VERY long putt off the green at #2 for Eagle, but made a couple of bogeys to drop back to -4.

Spieth birdies his 1st hole of the round to get to -7!!

Brendan Grace also moves to -7 just now.

I have to say I'm shocked at how little coverage Spieth is receiving in his round. He has just now moved within two of the lead.

I completely agree. For awhile there, I thought he had fallen off the pace, and then they show that he had made two birdies in a row at the time. I wonder if Tiger ever got such little coverage so close to the top of the Leader Board?

What a day of golf!! Everybody shooting low rounds today. Kaymer and Grace shoot 65 and 64 respectively today. Maybe everybody else making putts and hitting great shots could explain why Spieth hasn't received as much air time? But still, as one of the most popular players on Tour and the #2 ranked golfer in the world, I think he should be receiving a bit more coverage.

Jason Day is playing great today, and has a 1 shot lead over Matt Jones.

The third round was simply spectacular. Lots of great players tearing up a very difficult course. Jordan Spieth and Jason Day are in the final grouping, same as the final round of the British Open. So many story lines but of course the best one is if Jordan can do it again. All the majors have been off the charts good this year.

I was glad to hear the CBS announcers stating the obvious near the end of the round -- that golf has entered an exciting new era and the game is as healthy as can be. Even veteran Tiger brown noser Nick Faldo agreed. And I liked Jim Nantz's not so subtle dig at the "We'll Never Let You Go, Tiger" Media Brigade when he said that it's time that those "stuck on the same old story lines" took notice of the sea change that's occurred over the past few years, starting with the rise of Rory followed by Jordan and a bunch of very talented young players.

Even skysports limited the cheetah woods coverage and paul mcginley slated woods over his delusional first round comments.

Rooting for jordan, but everyone upthere seems likable so im going to sit back and enjoy it.

Did anyone else catch Rich Lerner's comments last night on the Golf Channel on the Tiger Woods era? It went something like, "We can now say the Woods Era is officially over," it now belongs to all these great young players."

It went something like that. I apologize for not getting it completely right. I was kind of shocked when I heard him say that and very exhausted from a long day yesterday and fell asleep early last night. I hope I wasn't dreaming.

Again, did anyone else hear this?

Today is setting up to be the best round of golf in 2015. Spieth could win his 3rd, Rose could add another major, as could Kaymer or McIllroy, and D. Johnson could finally break through. Should be a great day.

After another colossal disappointment at the PGA, it's becoming passé for the media to mention Woods as anything but distant memory.

I heard it. Of course, it happened after a long segment about Woods -- who didn't make the cut and didn't even play yesterday -- and after many other references and comparisons to Tiger by Golf Channel after the third round.

Rabbi Lerner, Golf Channel's Propaganda Minister, said it, but don't think for a second that Golf Channel and the media will dial back the over the top coverage of Woods very much despite Jim Nantz's observation that the media is "stuck on old stories."

But yeah, can't wait for today's final round.

Tiger's obituary was officially announced on the golf channel last night. Brandel Chamblee has been the ballsiest tiger critic over the past few years (even called him a cheater after his controversial drop at the masters a couple years back.) He noted that Jack, Arnie, and Player didn't miss 3 consecutive Major cuts until they were in their 50's. The whole panel agreed with him.

Jason Day is adding to the list of new young bucks that are in this game of golf for keeps, winning his first major in determined fashion, at +20.

It's good to see the storylines change, and it's for the better as we all know why. Hopefully this new era is here to stay and the idolatry for the "magical one" is over for good, at least as far as majors go.

I was hoping really hard for a Spieth win, for many reasons. He would have broken some more of Tiger's records that most can't seem to let go of. Spieth did break Woods' aggregate scoring record for Majors in one season -54. The record was held by Woods at -53.

Spieth became the second youngest player ever to reach number 1 behind, guess who? Woods. Even though some are saying the Woods era is over. Everyone and anyone will forever be compared to him as who is the best ever, even though (Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, and Bobby Jones, and maybe a couple others) were better than Woods, unless they start winning a lot of majors. That's why I hope either Rory or Jordan will win at least 15 before they're done. I hope McIlroy or Spieth don't become complacent and settle for what they've already accomplished!

Congratulations to Jason Day.

Extremely impressive display of powerful yet accurate driving combined with a deft putting touch by Day. He just wasn't going to be beaten today.

Golf looks to be in its best era since the "Big Three" in the 1960s. Given the power and conditioning of today's stars I don't know how well Nicklaus and Palmer would be able to hang with them. But the field is so much deeper now that I don't think any one or two or three players will be able to dominate the majors for any length of time. There's all kind of young players that may break through soon, while players like Rose, Watson and Kaymer are in their peak years and can still win another major or two. Golf isn't conducive to the kind of domination of majors that we see in tennis. There are simply too many variables as far as courses, weather, tee times, luck, and too many good players.

Day played phenomenal golf over the weekend, and he definitely deserved the win. Congrats to Day!

I agree that nobody will be dominating the field for any length of time. In addition to Spieth, Rory, etc. You've got guys like Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Fowler, Brooks Koepka, etc. who'll likely win a major or two during their careers. At the other end, 45 year old Jim Furyk won a tournament this year too, leaving the door open for the older guys on tour as well. Phil also played a great weekend at -9 under par, so he's not quite done yet, either.

And yet "somehow" the "great" Tiger is being left behind by this field.

DW, JL,

I must respectively disagree with the assumption that no one or two players can dominate. Up until the last 2 Majors, Rory and Jordan had won 4 Majors in row up until the British Open and Spieth could've won all 4 this year. Rory won 4 within a 4 year period.

I say this because, McIlroy and Spieth are very young, 22 and 26. When a dominant player comes along they generally win,(Majors), early and often as did Nicklaus and Woods.

I believe McIlroy or Spieth could be like Nicklaus or Woods if they want it bad enough. I'm not sure about McIlroy, but Spieth seems to want to win a lot of Majors and be number 1 in the world.

Spieth let it be known early what his goals were to win Majors and be number 1. He attained both at barely 22 years old. Now lets see how many Majors he wants!
