I couldn't find more comprehensive coverage of the results of the NFL Veterans combine. Overall it wasn't at all something that would help many of our players. The running back times are hilarious though. Felix Jones runs in the 4.8 range now after running a 4.4 at his combine in like 2008. Their is a list of some of the other RBs as well - running in the 4.8s/4.9s. It really exposes the caste system which is good for us. It provides evidence from the source how quickly the so called super affletes supposed superiority deteriorates very quickly.

I heard Carriker threw up 40 225lb BPs and Tyler Wilson generated some positive buzz with his workout. Carriker is a beast, has been more of a victim of injuries impacting his career than anything else. I think he should make a team.

The media also trying to make the whole Michael Sam gay story popular again since he was in attendance and had a mediocre workout.

The NFL Network had an hour-long show about the Veterans Combine yesterday, and reading between the lines it must have been painful to watch -- and that's not even referring to the network's renewal of last season's intense love affair with the super-slow, "tight-hipped," as Solomon Wilcots called him, Michael Sam. I did catch the part that focused on the RBs. Felix Jones was interviewed and he looks about 40 years old and his 40 times were somewhere in the 4.8s. Michael Bush was even slower and looked pathetic in the clip they showed of him doing a cutting drill.

Both Wilcots and Daniel Jeremiah agreed that Mikel Leshoure or however his name is spelled, was the most impressive running back. Wilcots specifically mentioned Leshoure's "speed" even though he ran a 4.6 something. If Leshoure was the speedburner of the group, you can imagine what the others looked like.

I saw some clips from that special too. Bush has always been a slow plodder, if he was white he would have been a fullback. His reaction to his 40 time was hilarious. Wilcotts comments on leshoure are baffling as he wasn't very impressive with the lions prior to getting cut.

They did mention former army qb Trent steeleman who is trying oit as a wr. He was comparing himself to Edelman - a smart move on his part.

I mentioned this to a buddy of mine. He ran a 4.9X and is 6'1"/245 pounds he could field offers to play fullback but tailback should be out of the question. The ROFLMAO moment of his informal tryout was his reaction to his bald tire time was this X rated comment...http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4156/michael-bush

I can't believe how awful these times are. And a lot of these guys ran fast times during the combine. Do you think it's possible that a lot of current NFL players are running considerably slower than they did when they got drafted ? I mean the DWF honestly believe that NFL player are literally the greatest athletes in the world, but we here at Caste Football know better than that.

The 40 times do not surprise me. I mean after 4 years of playing running back in the NFL its going to hinder your 40 time, especially from the rookie combine numbers. I think Felix Jones running in the 4.7s is actual surprising.

The Bears signed former Redskins 2nd round bust Jarvis Jenkins. In the three seasons he has played Jenkins has 2 sacks and his highest season tackle total is 28.

If you watch closely, there are times when you will see the referees running on the sidelines alongside a receiver or running back. I've seen times where an RB/WR was running full speed, and there was a white 60 year old, gray haired referee nearly keeping up speed with the them. A 40 yard dash at the combine is done completely fresh, with months of preparation, by an early 20s prime athlete right out of college. It doesn't reflect how fast a player will run in game 12 of the season in the third quarter, when they have gotten tired. It certainly doesn't reflect how fast they will run once they are over 30. It's a myth that an RB need to run 4.4 to be productive. Some of these slugs running 4.9s later in their careers are still putting up over 4 yards a carry.

The fixation on the 40 yard dash above all other measurables is by design. Odds are that black athletes have a better chance at doing better in the 40 than in any other exercise. As real football metrics, the shuttles, 10, 20 yard splits, broad and high jumps are a much better indicators of potential than the 40, which is probably only useful for deep-threat receivers and special team coverage units.

By bringing the focus here, it all but guarantees the blacks will stand out. There are a few white outliers, but they are numerically overwhelmed by the sheer quantities of blacks invited vs. whites. If focus was distributed to more realistic football metrics, whites would be even or have an advantage. Can't have that!

great post. These players who prep for the combine for months also do their best to train specifically to run a 40 yard dash. They practice their stance, form etc. The 40 is in no way a measure of football ability and interest in this arbitrary stat is weighed far to heavy by both the supposed expert talent evaluator and drunk white fan alike.

Do you think that Toby Gerhart's 40 time right now is much slower than what he ran 5 years ago ? I doubt it. The reason why black athletes suffer extreme athletic declines is because they're lazy and they just give up after winning the lottery. No need to diet, stay in shape, avoid excessive partying, etc; their black privilege will allow them to coast through their playing careers.

The Vikings have signed bad safety Taylor Mays.

If Mays gets any significant playing time look for many blown coverages that will be blamed on white safety Harrison Smith.

Meanwhile superior white safeties are out of the league or were never given a chance.

Gerhart may be an exception in that he was not feature back taking all the hits and lumps for 5 years as a starter. But if he was a feature back for 4 or 5 years, his 40 time would most likely be slower.

Mays is absolute garbage. If he were white he would of been criticized for having good straight line speed but no "hip swivel" but based on the fact he is black he does have "hip swivel" even though he has no coverage ability or agility to speak of. He is probably on hgh/steroids as he looks a lot like laron Landry - lots of pumped up artificial muscle but mediocre football skills.

Casey Matthews was also signed by the Vikings. Hopefully he is slated to be a weak side linebacker and they give the middle linebacker position to Audie Cole

Packers just signed street free agent CB/S Kyle Sebetic. From the sound if it, he'll be replacing Jarret Bush as their special teams guy.

Cole Beasley re-signed with the Cowboys. A 4-year deal worth 13.6 million.

Good to see u back kaptain! Very good deal for Cole considering a couple years ago he was an undrafted fringe prospect. Props to Jason Garrett on bringing Beasley back for awhile he was going to walk away but Garrett extended an offer that Cole could rejoin the team.

There are still a lot of quality players out there. Its quite scary looking at some of these big names still on the market:

OL
Lyle Sendlein
Gabe Carimi
Eben Britton
Brian De La Puente
Mike Pollack
Chris Meyers
Domanic Raiola
Daryn College
Adam Snyder
Doug Legursky
Rich Ohrnberger
Chad Rinehart
Scott Wells
Jake Long

RB
Peyton Hillis
Brian Leonard

WR
Wes Welker
Connor Vernon
Dane Sanzenbacher

DL
Brett Keisel
Trevor Scott

LB
Chase Blackburn
Colin McCarthy
Andy Studebaker
Miles Burris
Will Herring

S
Jim Leonhard
Matt Giordano
Reed Doughty
Zeke Motta

With the exception of maybe a handful, all of these guys are plug and play starting caliber.

**Also worth mentioning, for some odd reason, Rotoworld's list of available free agents does not include Wes Welker or Peyton Hillis. What's the deal Rotoworld? Why these two in particular?

Nice list upside. Pretty sure Leonhard and McCarthy have both retired.

I am shocked Britton is a free agent. He was part of a really solid bears o-line in 2013.

I think Carimi is still on the Falcons but not sure.

I also saw that the Lions cut Anthony Boone and signed Garret Gilbert.

Good catch Upside. Why indeed?

Could there be some sort of agenda involved here?

Conner Vernon still hasn't gotten a chance to play anywhere, such a talented player being wasted away.

I just read an article on NFL.com about Leonhard. He says he would listen to offers, but it would have to be the right situation.

You're right about McCarthy. Just saw it on Rotoworld. Damn, so in only a few seasons, we've lost McCarthy, Pat Angerer, Stewart Bradley, Russell Allen, and Chris Borland, all at a relatively young age. That's a kick to the gut...

Yeah, he'll be one that we will remember for a long time if he doesn't get a chance. Then you look at receiving corps like Jacksonville, St. Louis, or Tennessee, and you just wonder what the hell these GMs and coaches are thinking?

Taylor mays has been cut by the vikings and shon "if I was white I would of been an undrafted fullback" Greene is going to be cut by the Titans.

The panthers continue their bad offseason full of questionable decisions by giving 32 year old, 3 acl injuries, average lb thomas Davis a sizeable 3 year extension.
