2014 Indoor Track Season

Even though it's still December, I wanted to start a thread to post results from some of the sprinters we follow from around the world. The first result I've seen so far is Shane Crawford running a time of 6.69 which is a nice base for very early in the season. Most guys won't get going for another month or so. It's good to see him still running. I hope he has a great season.

I'm interested to see if Michael Tumi can duplicate his incredible success of last year indoors. He has to improve his speed endurance for outdoors but there is no doubt that Tumi can fly! Hoping he can break Nagels 6.48 of around a decade ago. The world record for the men is still held by Maurice Greenes 6.39 way back in the day. It should be an exciting indoor season!

watch out for a young new zealander by the name of andrew whyte ( apt name:icon_wink.. a seriously talented 400 meter junior athlete already running at almost 46 flat....:rockon::rockon:..this guy is going state side soon methinks !!!!

Greg Rutherford has recently announced that he will also be competing in several sprint events this year. He plans on competing indoor as well, while also looking to improve his 10.26 100m time later in the outdoor season.

What's up albinosprint. Got your text but I was having trouble with my phone. I tried to respond but it kept bouncing back. That was good news yesterday. I am anxious to see what Rutherford could do as well. Mitchell Watt is another guy that would be a great sprinter. I am also really excited to see how the youngster Kristoffer Hari does this year. He could be a shorter version of Lemaitre if he continues to improve. The kid is a phenomanal talent!

firstly alibino sprint contact WL.!...:icon_lol:......and yep should be interesting to see rutherford over 60 m..he is training with a london based sprint group ....really hope kilty goes into the 6.5s this winter i think he is ready to do so .hopefully lemaitre also does an indoor season as i reckon it would transfer to the outdoors , remember 2011. anda:

Last year Watt expressed some desire to sprint and stated he was training for it. I don't believe he ever competed in a major meet in a sprint, but he certainly has potential. Ran a 10.26 with jumpers spikes and left over blocks.

Well, I am happy to bring the the first notable news of the season . . . Ramil Guliyev ran in Russia a few days ago.
His 60m 6.76 is not great, but the fact that he is running is!
Let's hope he's back on track.

Great news jacknyc. Where did you find this result? Just curious. I haven't seen any european indoor lists for men or women yet? Guliyev has only one major problem. A lack of a descent coach. The guy still stands up right out of the blocks. He has done it since he was a junior. He has to be in his mid 20's now so time is running out. Fix his start and refine his technique a little and you will have a sub 10/sub 20 sprinter with out a shadow of a doubt. Great to at least see him running again.

Very few top results yet but most of the guys haven't raced or have only raced once. Here is the top euro indoor lists so far. Expect all of these times to really go down dramatically by february. Glad to see Robertson open up early. He had a really nice year last summer. There are alot of young russian sprinters that could be stepping up their game this years on the mens side. Great to see.

Ivan Ukhov opens his season with a huge 2.38m high jump!
That's 7ft 9-1/2 inches! Wow.

Ukhov is now up to 2.41 (7ft 10-9/10 inches!). Very close to the indoor WR of 2.43.

Meanwhile Galen Rupp broke the American indoor record in the 5000m, and now is 7th on the all-time list.
In the same meet, Mary Cain broke the World Jr Record in the 1000m.
A great start to the season for all of these talented athletes.

Christian Blum opened up his season with a time of 6.68 in the 60 meters. A solid opener. His career never hit the heights he was capable of. The really bad injury he had at the end of is 6.56 indoors win many years ago seemed to change him as a sprinter. He never really got back to that level again. Hope he can have a descent year. Alex Schaf also of Germany ran a 6.67 yesterday for the european lead. I hope Robert Herring of Germany can also get back on track.

. . . and Germany's Verena Sailer has the Euro Women's 60m lead with a 7.25 posting this weekend.

Sophie Papps, the up and coming youngster from Great Britain, still only 19, with a nice 60m win in 7.31. But even better she ran 7.27 in her semis!
So that puts her 2nd on the European women's list!

I'm excited about her, as well as the young collegiate sprinters we have in the US - Mary Beth Sant and Jenna Prandini.

...and let's not forget Hannah Cunliffe. We've been talking about her for a few yrs, but she is STILL in HS, and ran 7.44 last night in Idaho.

Arkansas senior 400 meter runner , Neil Braddy, has the fastest 400 in the world at the moment. He was a 10.5 100 meter guy in high school so Im wondering if this kid could crack 45 seconds on the outdoor circuit?

Braddy's leading time this year is 46.36.
Patrick Feeney from Notre Dame just ran 46.38 today.

I believe Chris Geistling is having a pretty good indoor season. Its to bad we cannot get more talent at the shorter events. Its kind of sad when Great Britian can produce Robertson, Pickering, Gemili, Cackett, Talbot , Sommers, Kilty and Showler-Davis over the last 5 or 6 years. Who does the United States have? Dallas Buroughs and arguably Joe Fisher who both have regressed IMO since high school.

Many runners regress from HS to College....it's always been that way, and there's probably many reasons for it.
Can't think of any US guys in the short sprint these days.
But meanwhile, Alex Schaf of Germany ran 6.67 today. Good early season time.
