I've said it before. How the hell could they leave this kid off the Olympic Team in 2012 for the Individual Events. It was a slap in the face. Kilty went out there today and showed the world that he is the best sprinter on the planet! I'm in shock. I knew he was capable of medaling but to become the World Indoor Champion is beyond my wildest dreams.

Yes white men can sprint! Richard Kilty is the the world champion! His name will forever be etched in history!


Morne Nagel is still the fastest white sprinter ever over 60 meters but Kilty is only 1/100th away from tieing that record.

Wow! I am one of those doubters regarding the 100 meters, but Kilty does have good 200 meter speed, so yeah I do see him breaking that 10 barrier... but I think he will shatter his 200 meter outdoor best even more so. Congrats to Kilty.

He was knocking on the sub 10 door last season. He should break it this season but one negative on his chances is that he will be mostly racing in Great Britain. The weather there isn't conducive to fast times. I hope his agent gets him into races in Southern Europe or the US south where fast times from poorer runners than him are quite common.

Amazing performances!
Both men's sprints were won by white guys.
The last time a white guy won the World Indoor 60m was
1997 - Haralabos Papadias of Greece was the winner.
At that same championships, Kevin Little of the US won the 200m.
So these great performances are not without precedence.

Congratulations to Pavel Maslak and Richard Kilty! I hope there are great things to come from both of them outdoors this year.

Daphne Schippers opens her season with a 7.23. So I believe that gives her the European lead.
Sailer has 7.25 and 19yr old Britain Sophie Papps is at 7.27.

In the US, as I just mentioned, Jenna Prandini is at 7.24.
Hannah Cunliffe down to 7.35.

Unfortunately not much to report in the men's short sprints at this time.

Some encouraging times in the women's heats at the World Indoor Championships:
Verena Sailer had the 3rd fastest qualifying time - 7.13.
Daphne Schippers at 7.19; and teenager Sophie Papps with a new PB of 7.22.
Meanwhile, the best times this year for the US girls are:
Jenna Prandini at 7.24; Katie Wise of Indiana State at 7.30; and Hannah Cunliffe at 7.35 (2nd fastest HSer in the country)

They didn't select him for this event as well. "Kilty, who was only selected for the World Indoor Championships after James Dasaolu was forced to withdraw through injury."

I'm guessing their plan was to keep not selecting him for major champs and he would lose interest, or not get funding which would effect his performance.

Looks like I was right they did have a plan to ruin his career.

Good news, bad news in the women's sprints at the NCAA indoors.
Jenna Prandini didn't run well in the final, coming in 7th at 7.32. But the good news is, another white sophomore, Katie Wise of Indiana State came in 5th with a time of 7.25.
I wonder when the last time 2 white girls made the finals of this race? Probably sometime in the 60s.
It's a real renaissance for women's sprinting in the US.

...and let's not forget Hannah Cunliffe. We've been talking about her for a few yrs, but she is STILL in HS, and ran 7.44 last night in Idaho.
Lots to look forward to with these girls in the future!
